Sagittarius 2013

Weekly Horoscope for Friday, Dec. 20, 2013, #980 | By Eric Francis

Consider carefully the influence you have on someone close to you — you’re a much more potent force than you may imagine. That includes on individual people and also on your total environment. You may be going through so much interesting, intense, strange or curious inner movement that you may not be noticing how it’s radiating out into the world around you. Take the time to get some feedback from others about what they perceive about you. Open up the space for a dialog and put more energy into listening than into speaking. Trust that people already get what’s on your mind. You will learn a lot from what they have to say and from slowing down enough to get a sense of what they are feeling. While this theme is focused right now, it’s going to be a recurring theme for the next two or three seasons. So, take a deep breath.

Weekly Horoscope for Friday, Dec. 13, 2013, #979 | By Eric Francis

You are the master of your destiny, but for that to have any meaning, you must remain in fidelity to what you know is right and true for you. That means understanding your motives and setting aside anything driven by jealousy, the sense of being unfairly treated or thinking that someone else is supposed to meet your needs. Anything of that general variety is a ruse or a distraction, a kind of ego game that can block you from awareness of your true strength. This is a moment when your choices have more power than you can imagine; when you have more personal influence than you’ve ever acknowledged; and when the karmic stakes are unusually high. Therefore, this is a time to think your options through and to make your choices carefully. Small decisions can lead to great things, though that’s too much power for most people to handle.

Weekly Horoscope for Friday, Dec. 6, 2013, #978 | By Eric Francis

Imagine you’re standing between two mirrors. You want to see the front of you and the back of you at the same time. But you’re in the way, no matter how you do it, and you’re starting to get frustrated. What would happen if you got out of the way and allowed the mirrors to reflect one another? That would open up a seemingly infinite space, into which you could see in two distinct directions. Now, observe that this is all a metaphor. The ‘body’ is your ego consciousness; your sense of ‘I’. The mirrors may be two philosophies, two situations, two people, or most likely of all, your ongoing confrontation between the past and the future. If you get out of the way, they can have an authentic dialog. You’ll be able to make subtle adjustments and see their perspectives accurately. You’ll be able to feel your way down the two time tunnels, and sense which is the most authentically you.

Planet Waves Monthly Horoscopes — December 2013, #977 | By Eric Francis

The more you retreat, the more you’re putting yourself into position for maximum contact and action. It may seem like a paradox; however, we both know you’re determined to experience those very things, despite what appears to be a certain emotional hesitancy. When the spark meets the fuel, however, your specific frame of mind will not make a difference, except for how much fun you have when the time comes. So whatever you are doing with your emotional energy, however you feel about putting yourself forward and embracing your feelings and those of others, I suggest you count yourself as moving in the direction of what you know you want the most, whether you think you’re doing it or not. You are in a rare, beautiful position to learn the nature of trust where intimate exchanges are concerned. Part of that trust involves understanding that you have the power to opt in and also to opt out. This state of being often exists for you only in potential; only right now that potential is more like low-hanging fruit. I recognize that you don’t necessarily want to get overly caught up in someone else’s world, and in that you have options. You know that every relationship involves taking a chance. What is not said often enough is that not daring also involves a risk as well.

Weekly Horoscope for Friday, Nov. 22, 2013 #976 | By Eric Francis

Be not deceived by the unreal. Embrace what is true. It may take you a few days to figure out one from the other, so slow down and observe, listen and consider what you learn. Over the next week, the influences in your chart shift from idealism and denial to awakening. If you make the effort to be objective now, your awakening will be one of resplendent clarity rather than a shock. Therefore, make an effort to consider several sides of every equation, and most significantly, to stick to your most important goals rather than allowing yourself to be distracted by entertainment or diversion. You may have to remind yourself from day to day or even hour to hour, and consciously maintain a balance between the larger scenario and the important details. If you’re getting mired in trivia, set it aside and go back to your top priorities. Keep at this for a while and you will be unstoppable.

Weekly Horoscope for Friday, Nov. 15, 2013 #975 | By Eric Francis

Just because you’re questioning a commitment, or your idea of commitment, does not suggest you want out. What it does suggest is that you’re ready to make adjustments to your situation that are oriented on establishing some balance. I don’t suggest you get too carried away with that idea, however. A little goes a long way, and nature has a way of evening things out over time. Stick to the very basics of nourishment. Make sure whatever situation you’re in provides the food, water and sufficient rest for everyone involved. Ask if you have any desires or needs that have been left out of the discussion entirely — and check in on the same topic with anyone who you might be involved with. In truth, a real exchange requires everyone to be open, so that they may give and receive. Open implies vulnerable. Where do you stand with that?

Weekly Horoscope for Friday, Nov. 8, 2013 #974 | By Eric Francis

At a certain point, you’re going to have to think of yourself as being something other than emotionally wounded. It’s true that you’ve suffered some injuries; everyone has, and you have a few that stand out in comparison to the people you know. It’s just that carrying around that idea makes something that happened in the past realer than it is, and realer than it needs to be. You may not be able to directly address the past situation; you may not be able to resolve it. But information is becoming available from another part of your consciousness which may show you two things: one is how you’ve put what happened in the past to good use, and I do mean very good use. The other is that while you may have some memory or personality matrix organized around this past event, you have in fact moved beyond it, and no longer need to define your personality or the trajectory of your life around this thing.

Inner Space Monthly Horoscope for November 2013,
standing in for weekly #973 | By Eric Francis

You may be feeling so much that you want to burst. But it looks like you’re not sure whether to implode or to explode. There seems to be a deep relationship situation in your life, though the way it looks, someone is lodged in your consciousness and in your libido in a way that you cannot shake, but where the person is less than available in physical reality. You might want to question whether this is a fantasy situation or something that you can actually ground in the physical world. Indeed that seems to be a theme of your chart from many points of view: the distance between how much is going on in your imagination versus what you’re actually experiencing in real time and space. Fantasy may seem safer and it may seem more accessible — assumptions I suggest you challenge with direct experience.

Planet Waves Monthly Horoscope for November 2013,
standing in for weekly #972 | By Eric Francis

You seem to be working through the whole love vs. fear thing — that there are two emotions, and that all other feelings and sensations emerge from one or the other. One does not cancel the other out or compensate for the other; there really is a choice. However, you may be getting the occasional torrent of fear that obscures the love you’re feeling. There’s a potential lure to the fear in that it’s blended with passion, potentially sexual passion. It may reach into some of your deepest, darkest desires, yet at the core is a form of anxiety. I’ve been studying this one with my spiritual teacher Elisa Novick: it’s a tricky one. The love, alternately, has a cosmic feeling to it, and may feel disembodied or impersonal; that may seem to contradict your desire to go for the physical and the embodied, though you still have that option open to you. The ‘choice between fear and love’ may manifest as the option to build on one foundation or the other. If you thought of it in those terms, the choice would be easy. You may be wondering where the fear will go, if you choose to place the home known as your soul on love. There’s a vent opening up, through which fear or any other negative emotion can be returned to the universe as unconditioned energy — liberating you in the process.

Weekly horoscope for Friday, Oct. 18, 2013 #971 | By Eric Francis

You have an extended opportunity to accomplish some great things, though to get there you must focus on the details. If you’re in a leadership role or even in a parental role, you may have to focus on the details of others. In either case you will need to go out of your way to do so gently. The sensation is persistence and setting an example rather than any form of aggressive leadership. You have available to you a depth of emotional access that gives you what I can describe as a heart connection. The same factor also puts you in contact with your sense of injury. It’s a fine line to walk, but for you it’s necessary; you are gradually approaching a crossroads where you will make a firm commitment to the mutual healing of yourself and the people in your life, or perpetuating something from the past that you know really needs to end.

The Oracle Horoscope, standing in for Weekly Horoscope 970, Oct. 11, 2013

When seeking money, remember your ethics. When working for advancement in your career, remember your ethics. I say these things knowing we live in a world where the concept of ethics seems outmoded and even useless. I assure you, it’s not. Whatever the current trend in thought, no matter how popular, useful and effective it may be to forego questions of authenticity, or matters of right and wrong, there is such a thing as karma. We are all subject to it. I don’t think you’re an unethical person; rather, I see a spell of astrology where the ends might seem to justify the means. They do not. How you go about something, from the specific methods you use, to the motivation that drives you, is every bit as meaningful as what you accomplish. Indeed, the two are so closely related as to be the same thing: if you notice you’re being driven by some form of ambition, you might want to check your goal and make sure that it’s really something you want. For an extended phase of your life, you are being granted a mantle of power. You have an aura of authority, and that connotes responsibility. I suggest you live like your telephone is tapped and like you’re being followed around by a television crew. Live as if you are actually accountable for your actions. You are. You are also accountable for the constructive, creative and sincere deeds to your credit, but on that particular theme, I suggest you let others do the talking.

Weekly horoscope for Friday, Oct. 4, 2013 #969 | By Eric Francis

I am sure you’ve had the insight that the world would be a happier place if more of us were as interested in what we could contribute to a situation as what we could get out of it. With Jupiter, your ruling planet, coming under focus in Cancer (the sign of nurturing) and in your solar 8th house (that of exchange), the question of what you offer and receive in your relationships is a top priority. Jupiter is suggesting that you have a lot to offer, and that at the same time, if you’re open, plenty is coming your way. You can therefore afford to be generous. Yet if you’re feeling resistant to sharing yourself in some way, I would propose that it’s the result of a deeper anxiety: something hinting at your relationship to existence. It’s difficult to get access to the source of this kind of issue, though you have it now, and will have increasing access over the next few weeks. You can understand this, and you can work it out.

Monthly Horoscope for October 2013 #968 | By Eric Francis

You seem to be pursuing some recognition or success, which you’re associating with money. Is this a valid connection? What if you considered the participation-visibility aspect of your work as one idea, and the business success as another? I know that the two are often conflated — for example, fame (a form of participation, based on acclaim) is associated with fortune (financial success). They’re not the same thing, on any level. Acknowledgement for what you do, and the opportunities that open up, is its own critter. Along with this you may include the integrity you put into your work, the message, and the ways in which you grow as a result of expressing yourself. Success in business is not assured from any of this, nor is it a matter of luck. It’s a matter of careful planning, conscious decision-making, a learning process and the careful choice of partners. Looked at this way, it’s clear why scrambling up these two kinds of success ladders doesn’t work so well. No matter how well-known a person is, no matter how well respected, that does not ensure or even hint at cleverness when it comes to handling money and business arrangements. And, sadly, skill with money is often associated with lack of integrity — that is not inherently true. Take these two sides of the equation separately and you will make a lot more progress — of the kind known as maturity.

Inner Space Horoscope for October 2013 #967 | By Eric Francis

You seem like you’re about to burst, and it’s about time. You’ve been ready to crack your shell for many seasons, though the sensation has been like one of those days where it’s always threatening rain, and the thunder is rumbling, but the sky never lets go. There are precipitating factors in your environment that may bring on a spiritual love explosion; what looks for all the world like a kind of mystical ecstasy experience with no drugs necessary. As for bursting, what you may know is that once you start loving you don’t ever stop. The question is why you would want to. And that is a good question to ask, if you need to — though that would not be about justifying holding back but rather reminding yourself that you’re free to plunge into whatever (or whoever) is inviting you in.

Pisces Full Moon Moonshine Horoscopes, Tuesday, Sep. 17, 2013 | By Genevieve Hathaway

You are connecting the dots in how patterns of independence have either helped or impeded you from reaching a grounded sense of inner strength and security. How does freedom support your authentic self or become a crutch designed to protect you from being real and vulnerable? I’m referring to the feeling of pure connection with like-minded people rather than being protected by building large, impenetrable walls. The latter is designed to keep people out while the former builds strength and safety from a support network. What you are sorting out is the fine line between the two and how to navigate the balancing act. As you acknowledge what has worked and what has not, you will be able to shift your patterns to build a sense of security based on strong connections with those close individuals around you.

Weekly Horoscope for Friday, Sept. 13, 2013 #966 | By Eric Francis

It’s time for a dialog about what makes you the most uncomfortable — that is, your personal taboo. This will seem bolder and braver before you do it and maybe for the first five minutes, and then it’s likely to feel perfectly normal. Whomever you’re discussing this with is likely to have a similar experience, so don’t worry about burdening them or thinking that you’re pushing them into weird territory. Rather than push, lead the way with a personal disclosure that at least seems daring and like you must cross an inner boundary to get there. That will get the discussion going. There are likely to be a few surprises as you proceed, potentially quite pleasant and liberating. While there are a few possible emotional and intellectual destinations, you will discover something about your own point of view as well as that of your conversation partner. One discovery might be something like how little you need to have in common in order to have something really special between you.

Weekly Horoscope for Friday, Sept. 6, 2013 #965 | By Eric Francis

Make sure you’re playing a supportive role in the lives of the people around you. By supportive I mean something other than competitive; preferably collaborative. That would call on you to let go of what may be considerable anxiety, which seems to flare up every time you want to do something that taps into your determination and creative vision. Listen to the fear and don’t let it stop you. Listen and don’t put others into the role of rival. You may have the feeling that you and everything and everyone around you are balanced on a hair-trigger, and that if you say or do anything meaningful there will be an earthquake. You’ll have to be willing to test that theory to claim some emotional space, though a good start is reminding yourself, every time you feel a burst of anxiety or uncertainty, that you can act in modest ways to hold the world together — and you’ll feel better for doing so.

Virgo New Moon Moonshine Horoscopes, Tuesday, Sep. 3, 2013 | By Genevieve Hathaway

You are working with a few ideas about your father’s psychological and emotional experiences and how it negatively affected you growing up. These concepts likely involved pain passed down through many generations, stemming from dismissal passed down from father to son. I suggest acknowledging this and the wounds you carry from it. This is in fact a large step in the healing process. As you work through this material, remember that it has no bearing on your value and worth. Re-accessing parts of yourself that you shut down due to pain may come with the feeling of a distinctive new you. This is your clue that the healing has brought you to a new place, a new perspective. What you are ultimately receiving from doing this work is something that was built to last — a greater feeling of emotional stability.

Inner Space Monthly Horoscopes for September 2013, #964 | By Eric Francis

You’re in a situation where you must be both the micromanager and the visionary. This isn’t easy. All the details in the world don’t add up to the larger scenario, no matter how well attended. But they do need to be attended. You also know that you’re one of the few who cannot only understand the grand scheme — you’re one of its most influential authors. Therefore, make sure that the details get taken care of, but don’t let them bog you down. One way to do that is to take care of them well in advance. You know what they are; you know who is dependable and who is not; you have a sense of the timing involved. Keep a grip on this layer of things and you will soon emerge as a leader of the people and the author of a genuine idea or concept.

Monthly Horoscopes for September 2013, #963 | By Eric Francis

Every time I see the charts from the point of view of Sagittarius, I want to write about sex. Maybe that has something to do with your ruling planet being in your solar 8th house — the one that represents the sex you want the most. Yet it may also represent what you fear the most, where you must encounter the most compelling aspects of relationship and where it’s possible to get lost in another person. That may indeed be your concern, and it could be valid. You may be wondering what to do: go deeper, or extricate yourself? I suggest you start with a good meditation on Be Here Now. Jupiter is also in Cancer, the sign of nourishment and comfort. This is a meaningful place to be, and I can say with some confidence that at least it’s not boring. And you’re getting more of what you need than you may recognize. In fact you could get a lot more of what you need, and share with others what you have and that they need. If relationships are about exchange, then you’re in the ideal place to do that. You have plenty to give, you have lots that’s being offered and all you need to do is be open — especially to doing that elusive thing known as receiving.

Weekly Horoscope for Friday, Aug. 16, 2013, #962 | By Eric Francis

If your desire nature or ability for exchanging love with others keeps getting caught in your security issues, you now have a welcome moment of relief. But you won’t be able to experience it until you dare to say or do something that you could not bring yourself to do in the past. What I’m suggesting is that you return to the scene of a boundary that you could not cross and see how it feels to be there and to consider going over it. This is better than being picked up and carried, or met at the gate by someone willing to hold your hand. The difference is that you get to be the one making the decisions, and you get to have the satisfaction of taking the risk successfully. This is a good time to question what you’re so worried about. I would propose that you’re more irked by the possibility of good things happening than you are about bad things.

Weekly Horoscope for Friday, Aug. 9, 2013, #961| By Eric Francis

You seem to be invested in an obsession of some kind. The question, however, is whether this is a self-obsession or whether it’s really about someone else. Another related question is, is this a sexual thing or isn’t it? If it is, it has a curiously asexual quality, though you might want to check whether that’s some kind of defense mechanism. You could also inquire with yourself if you’re trying to figure out if the scenario meets the approval of someone important in your life, such as your father. That wrinkle, or some kind of father figure, may be casting a kind of weirdness over the situation. I would offer, though, that just because something is a little strange doesn’t make it wrong, unnecessary or unhealthy. In fact, the slightly off-pitch flavor may be the point of interest or intrigue. While you’re sorting through this, I suggest you notice any way in which you’re holding back your passion, commitment or energy fearing that you might not be approved of, if you were to let go into the person and/or the feelings involved.

Inner Space Monthly Horoscope for August 2013 | By Eric Francis

There is an I Ching hexagram (number 41) called Decreasing. Really, it means concentrating. I think of the energy of this hexagram as being about cutting back on what is not necessary, trimming back your energy field and focusing on what is important — with a view toward the long run. That is what your charts are about now. Tidy up any fires that are burning out of control; keep your flame concentrated and contained. Use your heat and energy consciously. While you’re at it, organize the kitchen, clean out one cupboard, scrub the teakettle and toss out anything that doesn’t belong in your refrigerator. Focus on doing what is necessary using less energy than you usually do, but using it more meaningfully. Your confidence will grow and in the process you will discover some unexpected form of success.

Monthly Horoscope for August 2013 | By Eric Francis

Speaking at the recent Queer Astrology Conference, I started my talk by reminding everyone that sex leads to existence, and that people who don’t like or don’t approve of sex are likely to have some deep misgivings about being on the planet. Your charts are reminding you of the connection. Because religion has gone so far out of its way to build its fortunes on shaming sex, we take for granted that it must be inherently unspiritual. This is straight out of the Toxic Sludge Is Good For You school of public relations: tell a lie often enough and it seems to be true. Your chart is issuing a bold reminder that there is nothing more spiritual than sex. If you know this, then let it inform your whole life. If you’re struggling with it, if you have some moral aspersions around the topic, and they are irritating you, I suggest you check out the whole ‘relationship to existence’ angle. If you belong here, then how you got here is a good thing. If you don’t belong here, then you might have an issue with the way you got here. Consider this long enough and it’ll start to make more sense — to you. You might not be able to do much with or for others who are still waging war against themselves. Thankfully, they’re not the only people on Earth.

Weekly Horoscope for Friday, July 19, 2013, #959 | By Eric Francis

If you’re going to explore your passion, your desire or your need to surrender, choose someone who is either a match for your energy or who has a lot more mojo than you do. Then, bring yourself fully into the situation. Allow yourself to participate. Set aside the approach-avoid routine, for which you’re so notorious; remember how long you’ve waited to let go of all this energy that you’re holding onto. In case you’re tempted to keep holding on, I suggest you ask yourself how that’s serving you — even if that ‘service’ is negative. There’s a long list of possibilities, and it would be excellent if you were really familiar with this material. There are many more reasons why you will be happier if you uncork the bottle and let yourself breathe, feel and spill over your brim.

Aquarius Full Moon Moonshine Horoscopes, Tuesday, July 16, 2013 | By Genevieve Hathaway

As you look to make some changes to your work and home space, I suggest approaching both areas as creative spaces — physical environments through which you express a signature of yourself. Take the time to physically carve out a space in both these places that is your creative workshop – a part of the space in which you have free rein to immerse yourself in your innovative and experimental side. A space where you are free to try new things without concerns of perfection in what you produce. Environments resonating with both your philosophical nature and your explorer nature will provide a nurturing space for you to tap into your core creative energy and use it to guide your work. As you go to work in this new space, continue to remind yourself that what you create has both value and a place in the world.

Weekly Horoscope for Friday, July 12, 2013, #958 | By Eric Francis

Some element of darkness, doubt or shadow will emerge with deep sexual or emotional passion. Therefore you don’t need to be surprised if and when it does — though it would help if you know how to handle yourself. Step one is don’t go into denial. Step two is don’t blame yourself or anyone, just stay with the feelings involved. Step three is remember that these feelings are flexible and therefore subject to change. The mind has a way of making what is now seem like it’s permanent — especially when it comes to emotions. Remember that the feeling body is associated with the element water. Water flows easily; it always seeks balance; it has a way of permeating anything. The only time that’s not true is when it’s frozen, which is unlikely — you’re likely to be feeling a healthy dose of heat over the next few days and I suggest you let it thaw anyplace chilly, and explore the results as you melt the stuck places in your soul.

Weekly Horoscope for Friday, July 5, 2013, #957 | By Eric Francis

Everything you need you will find in the current moment, including resolving a nagging partnership question that seems like it won’t go away. Well, that’s true enough — you need to resolve it. Yet the issue as you’re looking at it seems to be a mask over some other face. Your family background is complex and you may be aware that situations you thought were addressed or that you overlooked have deeper roots than you imagined. It would help if you would go all the way back on this one, and while you’re asking yourself why your life is what it is, and why your family has so much murky energy, ask why the human experience is what it is. What’s that thing that prevents people from getting along? Who are the instigators of discord and what motivates them? You have different motives. You have different desires. You are different from your predecessors, and if you remember that, you will put a stop to the influence they seem to have over you.

Cancer New Moon for Tuesday, July 2, 2013 | By Genevieve Hathaway

You are negotiating and navigating your way through an interesting maze. The situation seems like the perfect setup for you to demonstrate your self-confidence and faith in yourself. I suggest not worrying about how you are perceived; instead focus on bringing your true self into your encounters with others. Put another way — that means no facades, white lies or masks. At the same time, you are receiving a reminder to be realistic about who others are. You are in a unique opportunity to have plenty of traction in all sincere exchanges with close partners. Be confident in the person whom you normally keep a few layers below the surface, and who yearns to be fully expressed and present in the world. As you hold space for you to show up fully, close partners will also do the same.

Inner Space Monthly Horoscope for July 2013, #956 | By Eric Francis

You may find it easier to clear the hot air out of the room now that Jupiter is in Cancer — a sign that’s cooler, more inwardly seeking and oriented on feelings. You’ve learned a lot about yourself with Jupiter moving through your opposite sign. Its new placement is less about what is said and more about what is done. People demonstrate their feelings, their caring, their sincerity through their actions. Words can deceive easily and often do so; it’s more difficult to deceive with actions. Now you need to tell the difference, both in terms of what you do and what others do. Let your actions and the actions of others do all the talking.

Daily Horoscope for Tuesday, June 25, 2013 | By Eric Francis

In order to have the benefits of a mutual situation, the one thing you have to bring is your willingness to offer yourself to the relationship. It would help significantly if you gave yourself permission to receive what others have to offer, and to be a bit more generous with what you have. In the human realm anyway, life is about an open exchange.

Daily Horoscope for Monday, June 24, 2013 | By Eric Francis

You have reasons to trust, and reasons not to trust. I suggest you go over them carefully and determine which are more coherent. You might also ask yourself where those reasons came from, and whose position they argue for. Once you sort this out, you will see that side of this seeming debate makes more sense than the other.

Monthly Horoscope for July 2013, #955 | By Eric Francis

Your ability to make contact with others runs in cycles. Yes, Sagittarius is supposed to be the one-pointed arrow of determination, though that has an unusual way of going off in unusual directions where the deepest layers of intimacy are concerned. You know what’s possible because you cycle there fairly regularly. Then you can enter some other realm, and what was possible then seems impossible and even strange to consider. Jupiter’s ingress into the house in your chart associated with intimacy and emotional contact will help stabilize this aspect of your life for a while. The cycles will, at least, slow down, or you’ll become aware of a much larger pattern that you sometimes lose sight of. One topic you can focus on is your capacity to receive. This is one of those edgy issues that many people struggle with in our nourishment-deprived society — and it can be frustrating when people are offering you something you want and for deeply personal reasons you don’t feel capable of taking it in. So, first, practice receiving. Accept what is offered to you without condition. Stretch your capacity to receive, which will challenge you to feel like you deserve the life that’s being sent your way. Notice how you respond when someone offers you the sex you want: observing that one facet of your emotional patterning will tell you a lot about yourself. One thing to be aware of: the more you open up, the more you will be drawn to bolder, deeper adventures. Get clear with yourself whether that’s something you really want.

Weekly Horoscope for Friday, June 14, 2013, #954 | By Eric Francis

Unexpected developments in a relationship are almost certain to work out in a way that you’re happy with but could not have predicted. You may have noticed that when you get to the edge of any territory, life becomes more interesting. Whether it’s the region near the border between two countries or the edge of an era in your own life, the transition zone is where life often offers the most potential. You have seemed reluctant to take an emotional risk of some kind, or to believe a promise that’s been held out to you. If you look underneath that, you may notice the ways in which your hesitancy says more about you than it does about whoever you’re involved with. That recognition may influence you to be more courageous and more accepting of your own potential. It’s not like you to be this cautious or hesitant, though you get to decide whether that is really helping you. The risk you’re concerned about is not as big as it may seem.

Weekly Horoscope for Friday, June 7, 2013, #953 | By Eric Francis

I reckon there is plenty going on in your life right now, and that you’re not sure about some of it. By not sure, I mean that your intuition may be nagging you about something or someone. There may be a situation that seems to be all promise and little payout. Or you may have concerns about where your own emotional desires and needs fit into the scenario. I suggest you honor your doubts and give the situation a little more time. You’re about to enter a whole new emotional landscape when Jupiter, the Sagittarius planet, enters Cancer in a few weeks. You may need to exercise what feels like extreme patience till then, though it will be worth it. You’ll be on more solid emotional ground, and you’ll discover what it is you were concerned about.

Gemini New Moon for Tuesday, June 4, 2013 | By Genevieve Hathaway

During the next week try working with the concept that your approach to relationships is just that — your own, not dictated by others. Think of this as structuring your relationships to fit who you are as an individual. From there it follows that you hold space for partners to do the same. At the moment, you may feel like you need multiple types of relationships, or multiple relationships, to satisfy the different facets of your personality. I propose reimagining how you assess information regarding whether a relationship is a good fit. Start from the place of how you approach sex, looking for a fluid, growth-centered partnership rather than a strict set of rules and expectations. This is about bringing a willingness to experiment and hold space for personal exploration. Recognize everyone’s experiences and needs, including your own, as valid, withholding judgment. From these open and honest experiences strong relationships can be built with a foundation rooted in love and acceptance.

Inner Space Horoscope for June 2013, #952 | By Eric Francis

Relationships are about an exchange of something substantial, be it feelings, resources, ideas or effort. What happens this month will be enough to illustrate the point. You’re ending a phase of your life and beginning another where ‘too much of nothing’ is no longer enough. Once you’re clear about that, it’ll be obvious who is offering you something, without needing to understand the motive. This may be the exercise in trust that you’ve been planning to embark on for so long. Remember that it takes some trust to trust, and at first you may seem to have no special reason to do so. Not at least based on certain elements of your past — though there are others you may not have considered. And they are reminding you they exist. They’re reminding you there is something about yourself that it’s time to reclaim.

Monthly Horoscope for June 2013, #951 | By Eric Francis

How you use your resources, or the ones to which you have access, says nearly everything about you. It’s the essence of how you relate to others, and what you might think of as your civic role. You instinctively know that humans only gain by putting together what they have, to benefit families, tribes, companies and nations. We need one another — and that is one of the most meaningful foundations of your understanding of life. Where the intent is to share and to be mutually supportive, it usually works well. I suspect that it pains you to see such waste, selfishness and the willingness of people to take advantage of what has been collectively accomplished. You may not be able to stop corporate crime, but you can be the person in your immediate environment who makes sure that resources are accounted for, kept safe and used wisely. Your chart looks like you’re about to be nominated quartermaster in chief for those you know; by one reading you could be coming into a windfall or an inheritance. By another reading you’re inheriting something from yourself, which may be measurable in money or observable as wisdom. In any event, you’re the steward of something that belongs not only to you but also to others around you. You’re being looked up to for your ethics and your ability to allocate this wealth wisely. You’ve been carefully ordering your priorities for years now. You know the right thing to do, and you have every reason to trust yourself.

Sagittarius Full Moon for Tuesday, May 21, 2013 | By Genevieve Hathaway

You are experiencing what may feel like a rift in your internal landscape, dividing one kind of territory and experience from another. Initially this may feel a bit disorienting, like you don’t have solid ground to stand on. I suggest viewing it rather as something that is helping you recreate some stagnant internal patterns. Take time to move through this process of reworking an emotional response. As you get clear on where you have been and where you have grown, you will be able to share this new aspect of yourself and your needs with a close partner. Having clarity yourself is the first step in being able to communicate the changes you are undergoing. Trust that you will find the vocabulary to convey how your emotional space has changed. Apply patience as you bring a close partner up to speed with these changes and growth. It may take a few conversations, but what it will bring you both is a deeper sense of intimacy and connection.

Weekly Horoscope for Friday, May 17, 2013 #950 | By Liam Carey

Things are looking and feeling much better at home than they have in a while. It seems as though the clouds have parted recently and there is harmony in your deep emotional reserves with what you project to your partners. This is the reward derived from the hard work you’ve put in over the past few months. Much has been happening to highlight who you are and what you have to offer in relationships, and it has been difficult to tangle with some of these questions. Accept the harmony of the moment and recognize it as fruits of purification. Nothing can grow without nurturing and you did that well. This is part of the long-term path of dissolving those aspects of your personality that just don’t work anymore, and in turn, discover what does. It’s entirely possible that you’ll feel like you’re living in a dream — and who’s to argue with you? You can imbibe all you like but I doubt you’ll match the high you’ll have by being present with your love, and speaking your truth.

Weekly Horoscope for Friday, May 10, 2013 #949 | By Eric Francis

It’s important to know how much is enough, which includes enough work, enough attention to your health, enough time or effort spent on something and enough emphasis on the idea of relationships rather than the reality. No sign description of Sagittarius that you’ll ever read would say, “These people are good at living a balanced life,” though it’s clear that one of the inevitable longterm projects you’re involved with is one of balance. The way the scale is tipping right now, some balance in the direction of what actually makes you happy would serve you well. This would include being alert for what aggravates, irritates and eats your energy. I suggest you also be alert for what you have not completed, and set about the task of wrapping things up with that person or aspect of your life. At the moment, everything in your chart is guiding you in the direction of closure. You’re about to have access to a lot of energy — I do mean a lot — and you don’t want to waste it dragging behind you anything you don’t really want or need.

Taurus New Moon for Tuesday, May 7, 2013 | By Genevieve Hathaway

This week as the Moon and Sun meet in Taurus, your astrology is indicating a burst of energy in your emotional and physical bodies. This may come with the sensation of your body and emotions working as one unit. You can also think of this in terms of balance, with both aspects of you working together in a healthy harmony. Part of working from this balanced place is listening to the signals that both parts of you are sending. Consciously know what nurtures each and build that into your daily life. At the moment, what you are accessing is a well of energy, a type of renewable power source, that you can draw on to achieve your goals. Shift and alter routines and habits to facilitate these two parts of yourself working increasingly as a cohesive unit. Once you set these new structures and patterns, it won’t take much to keep this internal energy source charged and accessible.

Weekly Horoscope for Friday, May 3, 2013 #948 | By Eric Francis

If something irritates you, remove it from your environment. The problem with environments is that they tend to be invisible; the contrast that we need to notice things fades into the background. So you may need to use unusual methods to determine what’s irritating you, one of which will be your dreams. Remember that in dreams there are no stock interpretations, and every element of the dream represents you. Tell yourself any dream you have from the viewpoint of one of the objects or people in the scenario and it will make more sense. Meanwhile, I suggest you hang out with people who can offer you a reflection of yourself, or challenge your perspective in a way that helps you, rather than those who expect you to be a certain way. Clarity is what will help you feel better, in a deep way rather than a fleeting one. In this world, clarity is something that we must work for patiently, though anyone who’s arrived there will tell you it’s worth the effort.

Inner Space Horoscopes for May 2013 | By Eric Francis

One way or another, healing — or the need for healing — surfaces in every relationship. Maybe that’s because love brings up everything unlike itself. Maybe it’s because we carry around so many prejudices from our past relationships, and those obscure our view of who we’re actually with. I suggest you honor the healing aspect of your relationships though without putting that on a ‘higher’ plane than celebrating life. One of our biggest collective problems is pleasure anxiety (that is, tension, guilt or other issues around simply feeling good). In that regard, sincere, wholesome pleasure counts as a form of release from pain and anxiety. Yet along the way, there will be questions, some pain might arise, and in your chart, there’s the question of what to do along that borderline where passion meets anger. Devote yourself to listening and you will have all the information — and the love — you need.

Monthly Horoscopes for May 2013 #947 | By Eric Francis

Isn’t it time to get over the feeling that if you get close to someone, or allow yourself to connect to them deeply, that your life is going to run out of control? Imagine that the ‘out of control’ factor is really an unknown. That’s not what it literally is, it’s just your equivalent of X. You could, under that scenario, revise the story: “if I connect to someone deeply, something of which I’m not sure may happen.” That is another way of saying that if you make contact, something will change — and it will. Both people will change. That is what happens when humans interact: they learn from one another, influence one another, and often become a little (or a lot) like one another. I suggest you list the reasons you have to trust and not trust the situation; to trust and not trust yourself. From the look of the astrology, you’re the person who is the most likely to have a profound or life-changing influence on someone you respect or admire, though you may not be up to believing how that’s possible. Well, it is possible; making friends with a kitten is enough to have a life-changing influence on many people. This isn’t something you have to try to do, plan on or expect. The most helpful thing you can do is trust, which means not throwing your fear in front of your path as a stumbling block. Said another way, you can use your power for or against your own best interests.

Scorpio Full Moon for Tuesday, April 23, 2013 | By Genevieve Hathaway

Over the Scorpio Full Moon, you may experience the sensation of being pulled between having to invest time and energy into either your emotional health or your physical health. In fact the opposite is true: when you invest in one aspect of your health, the other benefits as well. You are in the process of gaining a new understanding of how to be the custodian of your inner world and your physical body. Maintaining balance between inward sustenance and outward flow, you will have plenty for yourself and plenty to give. Tend and manage your process of tapping these resources. This stewardship will be important as the intensity and speed with which life moves and changes continues to increase exponentially. Stewardship of your emotional and physical bodies is an active, conscious process — you can also think of it as a method of loving yourself.

Weekly Horoscope for Friday, April 19, 2013 #946 | By Eric Francis

When I was at Burning Man 2001, someone said to me that many people there were not going to go past their boundaries, but they would find out what they are. You’re currently having your own miniature Burning Man or Burning Woman celebration. Your mental and emotional environment is thriving with creativity and passion. I would ask: how are you responding to this? Are you being pushed up against your boundaries, or feeling uncomfortable at the idea of certain potential experiences? How are you feeling about taking chances you might not take, particularly of a sexual or creative nature? How much fun can you stand? Right now you have the chance to feel the edge of your limits, or to expand them — a little or a lot. Either way, I suggest you notice what those limits are about. If you feel, listen and think, you’ll get information, and you can use it to make choices around the options that you’re being presented.

Weekly Horoscope for Friday, April 12, 2013 #945 | By Eric Francis

You may be feeling a tug away from experimental and creative mode, into get-serious mode. I would recast this another way — your experiment is starting to get results, and it’s time to act on what you’re learning about yourself and your environment. It’s true that you need something solid to work with, and you’ll soon have that opportunity to an increasing depth. Said simply, that something solid is a sense of purpose, though this may be the last thing you are inclined to trust. I understand there’s something about the times we’re living in where we think that ‘meaning is meaningless’. (In academic terms, this is an aspect of postmodernism.) You can get around that one by connecting with the fact that sincerity is always meaningful. One by one, planets are moving into the angle of your chart that describes healing, focus and service. The energy in your life will cool down in degrees, though the gradually diminishing raw heat will leave plenty of fuel and oxygen for passion and purpose.

Weekly Horoscope for Friday, April 5, 2013 #944 | By Genevieve Hathaway

For you, a healthy component of emotional and spiritual balance is enjoying sexual fantasies. They allow you to explore many of your sexual needs that may be logistically challenging to experience directly in day-to-day life. Currently your fantasies are quite vibrant, being stoked by some hot and passionate astrology. Your core essence of self and your energetic sexual self are merging and mixing, stirring up a particularly rich fantasy life that is spilling over into your physical sexual experiences. Take the time to mentally and emotionally explore these fantasies. As you do this you will make contact with an important aspect of yourself, learning more about what makes you unique — and also tapping your well of creativity. The more sexually honest you are, the deeper you will be able to push into yourself, bringing you a stronger sense of feeling good about who you are as a whole being.

Planet Waves Monthly Horoscope for April 2013 | By Eric Francis

As a Sagittarius, you have a reputation for being one of the most daring signs of the zodiac. I would say from my experience as an astrologer, that’s more packaging than product — except for now. By now, I mean in recent years, and I especially mean now as in this month. Every possible factor is encouraging you to be bold and do what you would not normally dare to do. Start with what you want to do the most, and which is available to you. Could this be as simple as calling up someone you like and letting them know that? Could it be taking up someone’s offer for an adventure, romantic or otherwise? Going down the list of possible reasons you might hesitate, one of them shows up as ‘something in your past’ that you’re afraid might come out. This feeling might be so subtle you haven’t given it a name, though if you’re feeling like you cannot bring yourself to do something and you don’t know why, you will benefit from investigating invisible influences. For example, do you feel like you have a commitment to someone (from the past) which is preventing you from being fully in the present? Is there some lingering unresolved matter, potentially involving a sexual relationship, that is weighing on your conscience? You may think that this is some kind of permanent installation in your psyche; I assure you that if you want to be free in the moment, you actually can resolve it and move on.

Weekly Horoscope for Friday, March 15, 2013 #942 | By Genevieve Hathaway

The area of your chart involving art, daring and sex is about to get a dose of energy and passion. Think of it as an active volcano pushing forth streams of hot, molten lava — it’s intense, fierce and beautiful. Over the next few weeks as Mars, the Sun and Venus all join Uranus and Eris in Aries, I suggest carving out extra time for the projects you feel most passionate about. Channel your renewed sense of daring and vision into what your inner compass points to as your strongest calling. You have enough stretch in one aspect of a project to take a few big leaps and risks. Focus and intent will help you remain grounded, channeling the large amount of energy that is at your disposal. You are coming into contact with your potential in a tangible and real form.

Weekly Horoscope for Friday, March 8, 2013 #941 | By Eric Francis

People in your family were not, and are not, saints; it’s unlikely that many of the saints were saints. Therefore, you don’t need to hold yourself to any moral or ethical standard except what is right for you. When the contents of the subconscious are examined, we discover all kinds of rules, expectations, contradictions and double standards. It’s enough to drive anyone insane, and in fact we all verge on that insanity when it comes down to the expectations that family lays on us as children and even as adults. That is a complex issue; the thing to remember now is, don’t deceive yourself by attempting to hold yourself to anyone’s standard for moral purity. You want what you want, you like what you like. It’s up to you to discern whether your conduct hurts anyone. It’s also up to you to deal with people who tend to ‘get hurt’ by your basic choices some way other than pruning yourself back. Anyway — the whole ‘getting hurt’ game is worth careful analysis. It’s not what it seems.

Weekly Horoscope for Friday, March 1, 2013 #940 | By Eric Francis

I suggest you project all of your confidence into the relationship of your choice. Your life is not as complex as it seems; you’re merely allowing yourself to feel all the things that usually don’t influence you. The astrology is so strong that denial or pretending won’t work; it’s time to actually acknowledge how you feel. I suggest you do this regardless of the rules, or what you think anyone else might have to say about it. The message of the planets is that your life is your life; you and your time are not the property of someone else. That includes anyone in your family who, whether currently or in the past, has (or had) something to say about who you relate to and how. You may not think this a factor, but I suggest you investigate further. One of the issues involved seems to be that someone put into your mind the fear of going deep — the fear of emotional bonding, whether directly or indirectly — through their words or actions. You have a different idea about life, and a different plan for yourself.

Planet Waves Monthly Horoscope for March 2013 | By Eric Francis

To what extent are you allowing your relationships to be dictated or even influenced by your family? This includes your early childhood situation, as well as what these people seem to believe is right for you. One manifestation could be the ‘relationship for security’ equation, which might translate to the one who has money, or the nice appearance, but which has nothing to do with what you actually want. I suggest you sort out your own need for feeling safe from your need or desire to be in relationships to others. Having the right company can help you feel more grounded, though it’s better if that is not the one thing you depend on for a sense of feeling safe or belonging on the planet. Meanwhile, there is this potential matter of how you relate to the expectations of others, and what you perceive as their expectations (whether ‘positive’ or ‘negative’). This situation will summon you to awaken to emotionally-rooted values that guide your life. You may get your buttons pushed, and if you do, I suggest you stop and listen to what is coming up for you, and notice who was involved. The purpose of all this seems to be to get you to pay attention to what you really want, and to claim what is right for you. You are under no obligation to relive anyone else’s past, or your own for that matter. This can be a significant challenge, though it’s one to face boldly if you want to have happy and healthy relationships.

Weekly Horoscope for Friday, Feb. 15, 2013 #938 | By Eric Francis

Waves of energy coming through Pisces, about to be joined by the Sun, are giving you the opportunity to see many things about yourself that are usually invisible. It’s as if some deep inner container is being opened and you’re experiencing the full spectrum of your emotions, including the ones that may frighten you; your craving for vulnerability, which also may be a little scary; your need for contact in a secure environment (which I am here to validate for you). Now as for getting these needs/desires met — they will involve taking a risk. You may feel that risk is like jumping off of a cliff. It’s actually more like slipping into a hot tub that’s just a little too warm for your comfort — at first. The heat will call you into the presence of your physical body, which is where you’re safest in the midst of a profound emotional healing/awakening of the kind you’re having now. To facilitate this, I suggest you design times and spaces where you know you’ll be free from interruption — by phones, kids, critters and anyone not part of your particular experience.

Weekly Horoscope for Friday, Feb. 8, 2013 #937 | By Eric Francis

Sagittarius has one of the coolest and grooviest reputations of all the signs, though secretly, I believe this is one of the most reserved and even conservative signs of the zodiac. Part of this is how you tend to think — in fixed patterns and abstract ways rather than the tangible and the concrete. And those patterns and abstractions can easily get hung up on themselves. Every now and then you reach a point where you simply have to flex your mind in new directions. You might have to make a decision you’ve been avoiding until the last possible moment. You might have to face some unpleasant fact and then deal with it — and when these times come, you can be bold and decisive. That’s about where you are today. Sunday’s New Moon will help you go even deeper — you can address what we could call a systemic issue, some quality of how you tend to think all the time that you may not have given a name to yet. Now, it’s likely to be visible and in clear focus, to the point of being obvious.

Weekly Horoscope for Friday, Feb. 1, 2013 #936 | By Eric Francis

Your ruling planet Jupiter stationed direct this week, which is a sign that certain wrinkles in your relationships are ironing themselves out. You may also experience a gush of subject matter coming up that was held in reserve or at bay by the retrograde, but I don’t suggest you have all the conversations at once. Give things a week to unfold on their own. There’s a lot of hot astrology coming up in your chart over the next week, and the potential for exaggerated emotional reactions is pretty high. So I suggest you focus on being observant, on listening and on noticing what you’re feeling. Your emotions are likely to be somewhat contradictory at times, so don’t expect them to make sense, or try to force them to. If you take things slowly and gently, the roots of those contradictions will make themselves known. That information will help you, though it’s essential that you not come to conclusions. Rather, be happy with observations that lead you a little deeper into your understanding of yourself.

Inner Space Monthly Horoscope for February 2013 | By Eric Francis

Many questions seem to be arising about what it will take for you to feel safe on the planet, in your skin and in your home. The questions may bubble to the surface in focused ways, or percolate through when you’re not thinking about them. You have two angles of approach to these questions, one being intellectual and the other being sensory and emotional. Rather than choosing one over the other, or bouncing back and forth between them, I suggest you take an integrated approach. That means considering what you think and how you feel, and then noticing the contrast. From any perspective, notice how the world looks and sounds, and take that in. Remember that strictly speaking, you are not your feelings, your sense or your ideas; those are the effect of your life, and what you are now doing is making contact with the cause.

Planet Waves Monthly Horoscope for February 2013 | By Eric Francis

What you think and how you feel are related, though they are two different things. Listen to both your thoughts and your feelings and you’ll get a dialog going, and get closer to a deeper level of personal truth. If you can reach that level of awareness of what’s actually real for you, you will discover that it’s a lot easier to get along with others. Said another way, honoring your inner reality opens up a capacity for intimacy that would decidedly not be there otherwise. Once you’re clear with yourself, any ambiguity that someone else may feel is a lot easier to work with. Once you have that inner dialog going, it becomes easier to set priorities that apply both in the world that exists within your personal space, and the bigger world outside your home. Speaking of, you are currently in contact with what is, in truth, a significant professional goal. You may doubt your ability to fulfill this one, and as the astrology has been developing, it tends to appear and then disappear from your radar. I suggest that you put this into manual mode. This particular goal may seem to fade away, though that’s an illusion; it will be back soon enough, and I would urge you to focus on it even when it’s not a priority knocking on your head all the time. Part of the sense of relief of not having it annoy you is the feeling of not being up to the task, though I assure you that is not true.

Weekly Horoscope for Friday, Jan. 18, 2013 #934 | By Eric Francis

You are in possession of an idea that could change your life, and could even change the world. To be fair, these things pop up all the time, and plenty gets in the way of their development or manifestation. The first thing, however, is lack of respect for one’s own thoughts; the second thing is lack of discipline and the third is usually difficulty communicating the idea to others. So I suggest you work on these one at a time, beginning with honoring your thought process, focusing your discipline to develop whatever it is you’ve been thinking about, and finally, learning to communicate what you’re doing and why it’s a useful thing. This equation may be the direction that your whole thought process needs to go in order for you to be successful. They’re not such difficult steps, but they require actual self-respect; they can be equally good at helping you create it. That is the master theme of your astrology in these years of your life — take advantage of it.

Weekly Horoscope for Friday, Jan. 11, 2013 #933 | By Eric Francis

You may feel under pressure to make some big decisions, particularly of a financial nature. I suggest, however, that you wait until the end of the month (when Jupiter stations direct) before finalizing anything, particularly involving an investment or banking matter. You have more to learn about where partners or significant others are coming from, and what you learn will influence your decision. Meanwhile, it would help if you turned your sense of pressure into a sense of opportunity: in this case, you need to restructure your affairs in some way, which will have a benefit over time. There is an intimate connection between money and the structures that surround it, which takes many forms (including relationships). I suggest you make a commitment to have no guilt about doing what you need to do in order to make your affairs run more smoothly. And, though I will mention it again, take the next few weeks and see if you can deduce what close partners or associates really have on their mind.

Inner Space Monthly Horoscope for January 2013 | By Eric Francis

You now get to focus on money — perhaps in the most meaningful way ever. You get to make up for a lot of past mistakes this month, and do something with the whole “if I only knew then what I know now” thing. And it’s true, this is about what you do with knowledge, in particular, knowledge of your priorities. If you have conscious priorities, you’re so far ahead of the game, you would be shocked. If you develop them over time (which you do) you are at a significant advantage, and if you put your knowledge into action, you have what it takes to do this thing called succeed. Yet the name of the tune is succeeding at what is the most meaningful to you. And to do that, you have to be aware what that thing is.

Planet Waves Monthly Horoscope for January 2013 | By Eric Francis

The question is, are your feelings about yourself your own, or are they the collection of everything that everyone said about you, projected onto you and conditioned you to believe about yourself as a child? You’re probably thinking: Well, I wish it was the first possibility, but I have a hunch that it may be the second. The question is one of context. Everything new that you’ve learned was fit onto shelves and into compartments that were established by the first few layers, and also by ancestral patterns. When you try to put new information into the context of old information, it’s often hard to tell which is which. That, in short, is the beauty of the current moment of your life; the old context is being dismantled (which can feel like falling apart, disintegrating or being shattered, depending on the day). When the structure of your mind is changed so radically, that can feel disorienting, and give you the sensation that you don’t know yourself, and you don’t know what’s really important to you. The thing is, you do. Yet what you’re doing in this era of your life is learning how to perceive that self-knowledge outside the framework of what has been done to you, said about you, or sold to you. It matters not how well-meaning anyone was; the framework is a root of your loyalty to the heritage that you’re freeing yourself from, and the truth is, you will be a lot happier with your own original self-understanding.
