Weekly Horoscope for Friday, Dec. 20, 2013, #980 | By Eric Francis
Venus, the planet traditionally associated with your sign, stations retrograde over the weekend. That’s a fairly rare event; no planet is retrograde less than Venus, though this event happens entirely in Capricorn, where Venus has not been exclusively retrograde since 1802. The next two months are a truly beautiful time to resolve old family issues, particularly on your father’s side of the family. The material may surface on its own; you may be aware of topics or themes that you’ve been brewing for a few years, which you’re now ready to address as a conscious choice. Please use this time well. Nothing like it will happen again for years to come. For you, making peace with the past also means understanding what happened, why it happened, and how it influenced you. Nobody is going to hand you easy answers, but you are eminently capable of putting the pieces together. Take your time; be both careful and intuitive.
Weekly Horoscope for Friday, Dec. 13, 2013, #979 | By Eric Francis
Any sense of being emotionally stuck deserves a closer look. This may manifest as feeling more complicated than usual, hesitating expressing yourself, having anxiety attacks related to your personal security or feeling like your sexual energy is blocked. What you’re feeling is starting as one thing and then as it bubbles up to the surface, expresses itself as something else. So I suggest you not be overly concerned with the form that any of your emotions are taking, but rather that you go deeper and see if you can learn more about the source of the energy. One possibility is that you’re feeling the extent to which you’re dependent on others for affirmation. That in turn may be a manifestation of some abandonment fears that are usually concealed below the surface. You might test your perceptions against a simple question of how this relates to that particular theme. Remember, too, that guilt is never what it seems to be; it always travels incognito.
Weekly Horoscope for Friday, Dec. 6, 2013, #978 | By Eric Francis
There are certain people who when some worldly power is vested in them immediately strive to establish their position and make all kinds of changes. That would be ill advised right now. I suggest you take an approach that combines “wait and see” with the kind of leadership that stays focused on maintaining some continuity for a while. As recent events have demonstrated you don’t know everything and people are not going to tell you everything. Eventually you’ll find out everything you need to know but the operative word is eventually. So take your time to find out who your real allies are and solve important problems as they arise.
Planet Waves Monthly Horoscopes — December 2013, #977 | By Eric Francis
Events of this month can serve either as a hologram or miniature model for what you can do with yourself during the coming year or, alternately, as an example of what you do not want. There’s likely to be some mix of the two, though I am inclined to think that you are about to discover the benefits of actually asserting yourself. I suggest you do this in your own style (well, that’s always what you do) but don’t let the concept of style include any form of passivity, compromise before the conversation, or getting snagged up in your contemplation/indecision thing. The idea here is to be bold and take a chance. This is where what I will call the reverb factor comes in. When you assert yourself, you’re likely to get a little echo back, in the form of some disapproval from someone. This verges on being a universal phenomenon, and it’s a potential stumbling point for those at a new phase of experimenting with their will and influence. The problem is that it’s enough to keep most people in their shell, silencing their opinions or otherwise refusing to ruffle feathers. Yet overcoming this seems to be the whole point of your astrology this month, and the phenomenon lasts well into next summer. Start the ruffling now and you’ll get some valuable practice.
Weekly Horoscope for Friday, Nov. 22, 2013 #976 | By Eric Francis
In order for your worst fears not to run away with you, you must question them every time you feel them. Consider how little of what you think will go horribly wrong actually does. Very few houses burn down; cats rarely get caught in the garage; kids tend not to fall down the stairs and break their heads. Since you don’t deal cocaine, the government probably doesn’t care about you. Given all of this, most people respond by being reckless. So while you’re busy not believing that the worst will always happen, it’s essential that you not react in the other direction and assume that nothing could ever possibly go wrong. The wide, pragmatic middle ground is to focus your senses, use your awareness and use what you know. If you have a concern, use logic to assess its validity. If you have a problem, use logic to solve it. Remember that you do exist and that people care about you. Invite people you love into your home and you will feel that more.
Weekly Horoscope for Friday, Nov. 15, 2013 #975 | By Eric Francis
Events of the past few days seem to have cracked your shell and set you free from a binding you may not have known was there. Or did you? The way you’ve found out other times was through a similar experience of a boundary giving way. You often live in what seems like a Chinese puzzle, consisting of many intricate, interconnecting chambers, and you always seem to be exploring or bursting out of one or another. Lately, however, you’ve come through a big one, which may have been initiated by inner circumstances, outer ones, or some invisible force for transformation. I would remind you that you’re still vulnerable as a result of this. Be cautious who you share with. I suggest you move slowly and gently, and not overestimate your strength. A lot of your emotional blood is rushing in the direction of a world of feelings that you’ve discovered, most likely pleasant, certainly a bit strange, potentially associated with a loss of some kind. Easy does it. What you experienced is real and it has taken you to a new space within yourself.
Weekly Horoscope for Friday, Nov. 8, 2013 #974 | By Eric Francis
I suggest you respond to a burning desire rather than denying it or trying to pretend it’s not affecting you. You may have tried to compartmentalize this one many times, and it hasn’t worked. Now you get to burst out of those compartments, and it’s probably going to feel awesome. It could be awesome in that orgasmic way, or like when a shard of glass that got embedded in your skin years ago finally makes its way to the surface, tearing the skin to get out but it feels awesome because it’s finally getting out. Or as is most likely, a deep inner truth that you’re finally coming to terms with, which is arriving with an awesome sense of relief. It’s a beautiful thing to actually feel committed and passionate, and to put the two together. It’s awesome when you allow yourself to acknowledge the love that you feel.
Inner Space Monthly Horoscope for November 2013,
standing in for weekly #973 | By Eric Francis
I’ve reminded you before that everything comes down to self-esteem. The way your chart is set up right now, you might alternate between feeling like you’re really struggling with your self-worth at the same moment you’re figuring out just how much you have to work with. There are many ways to tease out the elements of the esteem you have for yourself, though I would suggest that the best measure is respect. Imagine someone you look up to, admire and whose thoughts and ideas you honor because they ring true. Do you feel this way about yourself? What would it take for you to get there? It might seem a contradiction to look up to yourself, though can self-esteem have any other meaning? Whether you have a long way to go or just a few steps to take, now is a great time to focus, explore and most of all seek true understanding of this idea.
Planet Waves Monthly Horoscope for November 2013,
standing in for weekly #972 | By Eric Francis
There is a cosmic feeling to your charts right now, as if you encounter some spiritual intervention that helps you work out an emotional knot you’ve been carrying around nearly forever. The way the picture looks, you’ve been drawn with increasing intensity to focus on a group of issues that seemed daunting and even impossible to address, not knowing how you would do it. Yet at a certain point, you seem to have suspended doubt, and then soon after that, you seem to have made a commitment to yourself. That was akin to the choice to make an investment in yourself. The thing with an investment is that it’s never a sure thing. You have to put up a lot of energy (in various forms, including emotions and money) before you get a return. Then, that return might be something entirely different than you are expecting (which seems to hold true for both business investments and for deeply personal ones). It looks like something is about to come to fruition. I will say this, however: the die is not cast. Your imagination will have an influence, though when you go there, you may experience some fear. Consider that fear a psychological response to the expression of your potential power. If you feel guilt, consider that direct evidence that you’re moving in the right direction — that of claiming your value, your personal power, your resources and your independence.
Weekly horoscope for Friday, Oct. 18, 2013 #971 | By Eric Francis
Friday’s lunar eclipse in your opposite sign Aries is a reminder that you can only be yourself; you cannot be anyone but yourself. If that is true, it’s also true of the people in your life, including those with whom you are the most intimate. One of the most common modes of ‘preserving’ relationships and ‘making them work’ is that our culture trains us to be someone other than who we are. At the same time there’s relatively little information about how to be oneself, and few situations where it’s appropriate. That all said, it’s ultimately inevitable — and people put in the same room, the same home, the same company or any other form of the same time and place, will eventually figure that out. Being who you are and acknowledging others for who they are is the foundation of a relationship, even if it seems to threaten it at first.
The Oracle Horoscope, standing in for Weekly Horoscope 970, Oct. 11, 2013
Not all problems can be solved by money. Money can be very useful, but it is utterly useless without ideas to back it up. Isn’t it amazing that virtually any crisis, difficulty, struggle or puzzle can be solved with a single thought? In case you are trying to work something like this out (and people may be depending upon you to do so) here is the formula that will work for any difficulty this month. Consider your problem, any problem, and imagine that a mom and a small child (about five years old) are working on solving it together. There are some suggestions the mom has, and others that the child has, but between them they see the whole situation, and poof, the solution appears.
Weekly horoscope for Friday, Oct. 4, 2013 #969 | By Eric Francis
You stand at a crossroads, on a scale that you may not even dare imagine. It’s an inner intersection that joins together where you’ve come from with where you are now, and several potential realities that you have the option to manifest. Yet lately you may feel like it’s more of a crosshairs than a meeting of avenues. That sense of impending risk, danger or challenge is a slightly veiled sensation of your potential coming into maturity. This doesn’t necessarily arrive with the promise of how wonderful life will be when you step into a dream. It might arrive with a hint of how daunting it is to confront the truth of your own talent, or the potential to realize a desire. Whether you’re confronting a question, embarking on a mission or freeing yourself from a commitment that no longer works for you, your astrology is describing a sense of awe at what is possible. Now the key is to see this as something inside yourself rather than external to you.
Monthly Horoscope for October 2013 #968 | By Eric Francis
An eclipse in your opposite sign Aries will give you a new perspective on a relationship. It’s like a veil will be pulled back allowing you to gaze into the unknown. The underlying reality is different than the one you can see under normal circumstances. You have experienced plenty the past couple of years that you don’t fully understand, spread throughout a diversity of situations. They all have something in common, and this is what I suggest you look for when you have those momentary opportunities to peer beyond the facade of existence. What you learn will help you sort out the issue of what you seem to want versus what you seem to get. You will feel better taking even small steps in this direction; I can offer you a clue — what you (really) want is unlikely to be the standard scenario of a comedy ending in suburban marriage. You have something edgier in mind; something more creative; something with more potential. Along the way, I suggest you evaluate your experiences not on whether they add up to your fantasy but rather how you feel about yourself. Each experience you have with another person has a way of influencing your inner relationship. This has nothing to do with the storyboard of expectations — it’s all about the real chemistry that you share with others, which in turn shapes your life and your experience of living.
Inner Space Horoscope for October 2013 #967 | By Eric Francis
The Sun’s movement through your sign into late October will provide a feeling of completion that has either been missing, or passing by in fleeting experiences. Since the Sun is in Libra for just 30 out of 365 days of the year, there are two ways to make the most of this experience. One is to refuse to take it for granted — count the opportunities you have now as rare, if not once in a lifetime. The second is to allow what happens over the next few weeks to reveal what is possible when you engage fully with your life, with the world and with the events that are developing in this moment. You’ve been waiting for this moment for a long time, though there is no longer a need to wait, or to consider every possibility for what might go wrong. Control is a non-issue — what you have is better: the ability to make decisions on the spot and get an immediate result of some kind.
Pisces Full Moon Moonshine Horoscopes, Tuesday, Sep. 17, 2013 | By Genevieve Hathaway
You are in a moment of setting some key patterns involving your emotional and physical health. I propose an idea — that balanced living actually starts with taking care of you first. When you are emotionally and physically nourished and cared for you will have more to give to others. The patterns you begin now will carry you for a long time. What you are building can be thought of as holistic living — taking into account the whole rather than just the individual parts. As you make small changes to your approach, notice how they have a larger impact on your overall health. With a replenishing well of energy, you’ll be better able to smoothly keep yourself feeling good and have an overabundance of creativity to share with others and your most important projects.
Weekly Horoscope for Friday, Sept. 13, 2013 #966 | By Eric Francis
You have many options open, though they may feel like situations to which you must respond. That’s a compelling kind of option, and included in it is the chance to turn what looks like a problem into an opportunity. I know a lot of people have probably made a lot of money with that statement, which relatively few people know what to do with. Here’s how it looks in the chart: You encounter something that triggers you emotionally. You have the option to gloss over the issue and move on, or figure out what was at the bottom of your response. I suggest you do that, because as Mercury moves through your sign, it does so in an increasingly provocative and emotional way. The sooner you make contact with the material at the root of the matter, the sooner you will make sense of your situation and be able to find the opportunities within it. Most of them involve emotional healing and finding a place of clarity with someone who you really wish you could understand a lot better.
Weekly Horoscope for Friday, Sept. 6, 2013 #965 | By Eric Francis
Over the next few days Venus leaves your sign and Mercury enters your sign. One implication is that it’s time to share with others how you really feel, rather than entertaining them with pretenses of any kind. Appearances can be important; we are now in a get-real moment. You may be concerned about how others who are more blunt than you are will react; what I suggest you pay attention to is your response to whatever they may be saying or doing. You face an ongoing challenge to speak up for yourself, accentuated by how powerful you perceive others as being. Yet their power is mediated by how you perceive them, your style of ommunication and more significantly how you relate to yourself. If you’re intimidated, people will seem powerful in ways that are disproportionate to reality. If you pluck up some courage and have a conversation about what really matters, they will seem more like your equal.
Virgo New Moon Moonshine Horoscopes, Tuesday, Sep. 3, 2013 | By Genevieve Hathaway
The connection between your internal psychic state and your physical health will be particularly clear. Notice how you feel physically when you are under emotional pressure. If you feel rundown or sick, check in with your emotional self. As you connect the dots between these pieces of information, a new idea governing how you approach your health will form. I suggest treating your physical body as an extension of your emotions, and your emotions as part of your physical self. This means eating well, sleeping well, drinking plenty of water, giving yourself nurturing down time, and spending time around loved ones who emotionally support you. Through this process you are learning to balance your emotional and physical health — spending time nurturing both aspects of yourself.
Inner Space Monthly Horoscopes for September 2013, #964 | By Eric Francis
You will need to talk about what you’re feeling and what you’ve been through recently — if you want any sense of contact with the people around you. The past matters, especially the past four weeks, and what you experienced will have an influence on your current choices. You’ve just been through another spell of “I can barely believe I’m going through this,” though at least this time around you had the presence of others to verify your experience. Remember how good that felt: you don’t need to go it alone, and the one sure way not to do that is to maintain open communication with people you care about, and those with whom you share common interests. Be real with people and you will have real friends. Stealth and secrecy are not all they’re cracked up to be.
Monthly Horoscopes for September 2013, #963 | By Eric Francis
I’ve written before that most of the problems that people face can be traced back to self-esteem. Your current astrology says that any question, issue or emotion that you experience will come back to this same theme. This has been going on for a while, though it’s a special focus right now. I suggest you focus on who in the past has gone out of their way to make you feel less worthy of love or of any benefit or reward of life. What you’re dealing with is not an actual fact of worthiness — it’s a feeling, and that feeling did not emerge from a vacuum. Meanwhile, I suggest you be conscious of the people around you and what influence they have on you. While it’s true that on one level how you feel about yourself is your business, it’s also true that others have an influence on you, and they will at times run their own agenda. If you have to push back against that, then do it in a creative and positive way. Rather than rebel, set out to achieve something that you want to do, and give yourself credit for having done so. In the end, though, how you feel about yourself is a choice, and I would remind you that nobody is your judge and jury.
Weekly Horoscope for Friday, Aug. 16, 2013, #962 | By Eric Francis
There are challenges that come with being oneself. While many influences tell us how wonderful it is to be authentic and in your integrity and all of that, few reveal what a pain in the ass it can be. If you’re ever wondering why authenticity is not more popular, that’s my theory — it’s not easy, and it comes at a cost. It is, however, considerably more convenient to be open and clear with the world voluntarily than it is to be so under some form of duress. I suggest you practice, which is to say, make a practice of full disclosure, and willingness to have the whole conversation. To do this, you’ll have to be willing to give up some aspect of your image, or self-image; the grit of reality and the polish of public relations do not mix well. The practice will serve you well. Over the next few weeks you will find yourself in situations compelling you to be increasingly real, with yourself and with others. It would be excellent if you were to emphasize that point as a matter of choice before you have to.
Weekly Horoscope for Friday, Aug. 9, 2013, #961| By Eric Francis
You seem to be lost in the sauce of your own life. It’s as if you have gone missing from yourself, or as if you’ve replaced your presence in your own life with an idea about who you are. It’s kind of like you’ve invented yourself into an avatar, though it’s a pretty convincing one. That process may get a little jolt over the next few days, and you’ll be awakened into the reality that something more is possible. It may be that someone tries to get your attention with an action or a statement. It may be that you encounter a person or experience that compels you to bring more of yourself into the exchange. You may decide spontaneously to wake up from a slumber of self-denial. Whatever form the reality check takes, I would count it as a positive development and good practice. Venus, your ruling planet, is heading for your sign. Currently it’s in Virgo and arrives in Libra on Aug. 16. That begins a whole new phase of life experience — one that will require you to be fully present in your own reality every day, all the time.
Inner Space Monthly Horoscope for August 2013 | By Eric Francis
You still may not be fully in harmony with the extent to which you’re perceived as a leader. I don’t mean a boss, though that may be true. I mean someone in a position of moral authority, someone who is a reference point for right and wrong. As such, it’s essential that you question yourself, and that those questions lead somewhat directly to useful information. It’s clear that you’re doubting something about yourself, indeed, it’s likely that you’re obsessed with your doubts. But that’s not a direct path to knowledge — it seems more like a diversion. If something doesn’t have an answer, it may not be a valid question. This one doubt may be covering your deeper faith in yourself. Set it aside for a few days and look at yourself from another point of view.
Monthly Horoscope for August 2013 | By Eric Francis
If you recognized that you don’t have to go it alone, you would feel a lot better, and your life would be easier. This transformation would happen without much fuss, and the results would be easy to see. It’s true that you are subject to forces outside your ability to control them, and lately you’ve really been feeling this. You may also be questioning whether there is any solid ground to stand on. Then the sensation that you have to do it all yourself, endure everything and live in a world where people don’t understand you, just feeds on itself. Shift the dynamic by taking the initiative and gathering people to whom you relate. Take that one risk. Reach out to others who you’ve noticed have some similar values or ideas, or who reach you with their positive ideas. As you do this, you’ll begin to realize how influential you are. You don’t want power; you want the ability to connect with others in ways that are meaningful, to share ideas and experience the pleasure of common ground. You may feel like you’re miles away from such a space, when in truth you’re much closer than you think. All you need to do is stop waiting for something positive to happen and recognize that you’re the attracting force. You’re the one who will set into motion the changes you want to see and experience.
Weekly Horoscope for Friday, July 19, 2013, #959 | By Eric Francis
There is something specific on your mind. I don’t reckon you’ve figured out what it is yet, but it’s there, and it’s nagging you to pay attention. Looked at one way, you’re trying to keep a secret from yourself. Yet it looks like something that you dearly want to reveal — not just to yourself but also to others. You seem right on the verge of discovery. But here is the catch. Just as fast as you discover what this thing is, you might forget, or you might decide that it’s too personal or private to consider for long, or to dare even considering revealing to others. Yet that does not make it any less important, helpful or meaningful. I suggest that the moment you discover what this is, write it down. If you wake up in the middle of the night, write it down. If you’re driving on the highway, stop and write it down. Then read it and elaborate and make sure that you remember.
Aquarius Full Moon Moonshine Horoscopes, Tuesday, July 16, 2013 | By Genevieve Hathaway
At the moment, you are working to resolve a point of tension between your creativity and your sense of self-esteem. This could come with the feeling of the energy pushing through, like it’s building and forcing the issue. Your creativity is particularly fertile now, coming with the sensation that instead of having one innovative way to express an idea you have many ways. The key is to feel that you can put this creativity to use in accomplishing your goals. This involves trusting in your ability to apply your ideas and vision. I suggest that you use any doubts that may arise as a chance to get under and around them, healing them through making contact with your actual potential.
Weekly Horoscope for Friday, July 12, 2013, #958 | By Eric Francis
This is an unusual moment of achievement for you. By that I mean that despite any doubts you may have, over the next few weeks through the end of the year, you’re likely to accomplish at least three things you might have previously believed were highly unlikely or even impossible. Don’t worry about how you will get to your end goal. I suggest you not be especially concerned if you don’t even have one of those — rather, focus on your direction of travel. I suggest you take the trip one conscious, tangible step at a time. Look for modest, obvious objectives, and focus on doing what you do better rather than faster. Pacing is essential — there’s a lot of pressure from Mars about to come into play, which might feel like pushing you to pick up your speed. You will get your best results with a slow and steady pace despite any deadlines you might face. As you move through this territory, an obvious and very significant goal is likely to manifest for you, and you will know exactly what to do.
Weekly Horoscope for Friday, July 5, 2013, #957 | By Eric Francis
Now is the time to consider your intentions carefully and to get clear about what you want to accomplish and why. This is unlikely to happen overnight, though you will have moments the next few weeks when you can add certain ideas to your list, and remove some that have been around for a while. One question is the extent to which money plays a role in your plan, and to focus some clear, disciplined ideas. It will also help to have some lines drawn between your desire to be helpful, your drive for success and the necessities of accomplishing both. It’s essential that you understand when you’re being driven by an emotional factor, and to sort through those emotions and get to some clarity. Take this one step at a time. Take notes and keep a discussion going with key allies and supporters via email and gradually come to an understanding with yourself.
Cancer New Moon for Tuesday, July 2, 2013 | By Genevieve Hathaway
At the moment, you are in the process of rethinking how your method of communication and your public reputation are related. Their connectedness is becoming even more apparent than usual, allowing you to see how they influence each other. You innately have a lot of respect for the power of words and the idea that what you say can further your position or negatively impact your reputation. Proceed slowly as you reevaluate how you use words in terms of your public image. A few important ideas will be coming to light that will help you make some changes to continually build a strong public presence. Remember that communicating a concept or idea can be done in a number of forms and often involves more listening than speaking.
Inner Space Monthly Horoscope for July 2013, #956 | By Eric Francis
You tend to leave an impression on others that is more austere and conservative than you may think. There’s a certain reserve around your sign, a reticence to reveal too much, and your astrology is illustrating just such an inner discussion now. You seem to have some compelling reasons to stay silent — and some even more compelling reasons to reveal something specific about yourself. Which is the correct impulse? Well, which haven’t you tried? What are your concerns about consequences? Are they just fears, or are they realistic? One of the main qualifications for leadership is sincerity. Were you to choose that path, what would you want to reveal? Not be compelled to reveal out of some moral dictate, but want to reveal because you will feel better and stronger for doing so?
Daily Horoscope for Tuesday, June 25, 2013 | By Eric Francis
A professional matter is calling for a creative solution, yet I suggest you ask if what you’re looking at is really a problem. Actual creativity means thinking for yourself rather than thinking within parameters and guidelines that others have set down for you. This is when you must break some rules and come up with something original — and you will.
Daily Horoscope for Monday, June 24, 2013 | By Eric Francis
You can accomplish great things, but not if you’re dragging around any resentments about what has happened in the past. Most of those may involve how others said you were supposed to respond, and you don’t need those either. You are being called on a new mission. Stand up and face the future with passion and optimism.
Monthly Horoscope for July 2013, #955 | By Eric Francis
It looks like you’re ready to make some impressive career moves. I suggest that you not count on luck, no matter how lucky you’re feeling. I know there is a time and a place to ‘not trust your own strength’, and I don’t want to get in the way of your relationship to your higher power. However, my reading of your solar chart says that this is a time to think for yourself, and that means making decisions. The very most significant among them is what you want to do with your talent. This is partly about what topic and field of life you want to be exploring, and more to the point it’s about who and what you want to serve. You’ve long outgrown your professional life being self-serving. Yes, on one level this is about your success and making your way in the world. Yet now you’re at the intersection where your higher calling is to work in the public benefit, in a way that’s genuinely productive for the planet and for the community. If something doesn’t meet those qualifications, it’s probably not going to feel satisfying. What you need in your work is the feeling of family — both working with one, and serving one. This is less like the ‘mom and dad’ kind of family and more like the cool uncle kind of family. The difference is that you have more freedom and you’re recognized for who you are rather than who others think you should be. And that is a big distinction.
Weekly Horoscope for Friday, June 14, 2013, #954 | By Eric Francis
You may be a little too focused on what you think you have to give up rather than what you think you will gain. In truth, any significant improvement you make does require you to give up something, even if it was the situation that was not working out for you. That kind of thing can be more difficult to let go of than most of us would care to admit. The first thing to investigate are family situations that are demanding too much from you. Once you see beyond those, you may have a lot clearer perspective on the rest of your existence. You’ll be able to evaluate whether recent career developments were really the best thing for you, and explore other options. What is essential is that you really take the time and evaluate each situation, and that you be mindful of your own prejudices and those that were imposed on you by someone in the past (such as your mother). This is the time to see the world and your life through your own eyes, as things exist now.
Weekly Horoscope for Friday, June 7, 2013, #953 | By Eric Francis
Your long-range plans may seem to be conflicting with certain immediate desires. The question you might want to ask is, in this world how practical is it to plan your life years in advance? This might be a time to experiment with the idea that your immediate goals fit into a larger plan, and you don’t need to have that scheme fully mapped out for everything to hang together. You have some excellent opportunities in front of you right now, and others will notice your commitment and aura of success if you allow those qualities to gently come forward. You don’t need to push anyone or anything. There’s a strong wind at your back right now. What I do suggest is that you be realistic about whether you really want any opportunity that’s offered to you in the coming days. The question is not ‘what am I doing with the rest of my life’ but rather, ‘where might this work with my life plan?’ or even better, ‘how does this feel?’
Gemini New Moon for Tuesday, June 4, 2013 | By Genevieve Hathaway
At the moment, you are in a unique position to be able to see how the beliefs you’ve held have affected the choices you’ve made. Beliefs are ideas or perceptions that we judge to be true — it’s a feeling, not necessarily a fact. These internal sensations inform the degree to which we believe or disbelieve something. What we believe has a large impact on how we experience our lives. You are undergoing a process of re-orienting your relationship to belief and how you use it to aid your vision for your life. Over this New Moon, you will be able to move between emotion and detached observation effortlessly. View ideas from multiple angles. Enough distance will let you see if it’s grounded in truth rather than emotional attachment. By testing each belief this way, you will be able to choose consciously those ideas that have a strong foundation in accurate facts.
Inner Space Horoscope for June 2013, #952 | By Eric Francis
Events that develop this month will be enough to focus your priorities on what you know matters — what you’ve said so many times is your top priority. You may start to feel like you have some catching up to do, yet I would caution against acting like you have to make up for lost time. Rather, work with the idea that what you’re doing and the choices you’re making now are right on time. Take the steps you need to prepare for the steps you’re about to take. Perhaps the most important thing to remember is how much you’ve learned the past year. Make sure that you consider what some call ‘both’ sides of every issue and what I would say amounts to taking a circumspect, open-minded approach, never being too invested in your own opinions.
Monthly Horoscope for June 2013, #951 | By Eric Francis
Though this is not necessarily the easiest time for Libras, it’s certainly a meaningful one, and you’re likely to experience a series of breakthroughs on some of your longest-delayed projects or goals. As these happen, leave room to re-evaluate your goals. Question why you have a goal, not just what it is. When you get to the level of your motives, you could shift your point of view with one thought. What’s changed in recent years is that the appearance of doing something, or being known for it, has less importance than ever. That’s a big help, an authentic step on the way to sincerity. Go deeper into who you are and what your real purpose is. Many encounters you have with others are provoking you to do just this: to assert yourself, sometimes in the face of what blatantly contradicts your ideas. What you may discover as you do this is that everyone has something to teach you, or some gift for you, even if the transaction seemed confrontational. Keep your sense of humor, and you will spend your days collecting useful ideas like a bee collects pollen and in the process feeds the world. As you rise in your success — and make no mistake, your star is rising, despite any dubious quests and struggles you’ve been through, or what any other astrologer claims — have fun discovering how much you don’t know, and therefore, how much you have to learn. This is a core element of leadership.
Sagittarius Full Moon for Tuesday, May 21, 2013 | By Genevieve Hathaway
An aspect of your local environment is challenging you in a constructive manner. Pay extra attention to what you are learning in clearing a small hurdle. Whatever you are working through is pushing you to find new resources to get where you wish to go, and in the process, you are discovering a resource in yourself that may not have seemed like one before. What you are connecting with is your ability to see the larger picture in situations. You can think of this as having a greater perspective instead of getting lost in the here and now. This viewpoint can both help you see where you’re going and also where you’ve been, and how the two are related. Holding this kind of vision for your life and the challenges you run into will aid you in moving with intention, keeping your energy and emotions focused on your end goals.
Weekly Horoscope for Friday, May 17, 2013 #950 | By Liam Carey
There is a lot of restless energy in your chart that has been building up for some time and is about to come to a peak. The energy infusion this week will highlight some of the broader ideas about life that you haven’t considered in a while, and a few brand-new ones. It just may enable you to see the rut that you’ve been in and start planning an escape. There is definitely the energy for some long-distance travel here. Perhaps it’s because the in-laws are coming? Pay your dues first; keep the peace and then the reward. There is also this concern: are you restless because of an underlying hurt that you don’t want to deal with? Maybe there is the subconscious urge to move so you don’t have to sit with yourself? It’s been said wisely that travel is a good way to get to know yourself. A shift in geographic point of view can give you a perspective on what you’ve been looking at but not seeing. Then you can decide how much you like it — which is to say, yourself.
Weekly Horoscope for Friday, May 10, 2013 #949 | By Eric Francis
This is a time of resolving your old commitments and entanglements, and moving on to a life that may take you far from anywhere you’ve ever been before. I suggest you summon your sense of adventure and your faith in yourself and get ready to make a series of moves. Don’t waste your time delaying on resolving what you know you’re through with. Make a list of the remaining points to address or work through and set a short schedule for doing so. You are being called beyond those prior attachments, commitments and ideas of who you need to be to others. This may include being drawn to other parts of the country or the world, and beginning what looks like it could be the adventure of a lifetime. This may feel like expressing another aspect of yourself entirely, a hidden side or some parallel reality that you might not have expressed under more typical circumstances. Yet if ever there was a rare moment in your life, this is it.
Taurus New Moon for Tuesday, May 7, 2013 | By Genevieve Hathaway
You are working through a kind of sexual negotiation based on what you value rather than present rules of society. Part of approaching any sexual relationship from an authentic place is treating yourself and the other party as distinct individuals who are growing, changing and learning. Negotiations are a form of relating that helps both parties understand where the other is coming from. It involves giving something while also having your needs met. It’s a type of conversation and dialogue where both parties ultimately benefit. This type of communication takes practice and patience in holding space for you and your partner to share such intimate desires. At the moment, you have the necessary language to move this sexual negotiation along quite far. As you work through these negotiations, remember — the truth is erotic. Working from that premise will help facilitate an open dialogue that can lead to some truly erotic, intimate and soul-fulfilling sexual experiences.
Weekly Horoscope for Friday, May 3, 2013 #948 | By Eric Francis
It’s time to make a list of all the decisions you’re holding off on committing to fully. Evaluate that list and you will get an accurate picture of where your life is at. One image that’s coming through your chart is that of withholding approval from yourself. You simply have to be your own most devoted cheerleader, though that’s not possible if you’re in conflict with yourself. It’s an even bigger problem if you project that inner conflict onto relationships with others. Your life will be altogether easier and happier if you embrace that fact that your feelings come from you. If others have a role in your life that you don’t like, it’s also up to you to make decisions in response to that fact. Looked at one way, your life is a study in power relationships, as events of the past few days seem to have dramatized. You want to live out your own values, and yet at the same time it’s so easy for you to get caught in the values of others. In light of this, the skill to develop and emphasize is not peacemaking but rather the nuts and bolts of negotiation.
Inner Space Horoscopes for May 2013 | By Eric Francis
What you’re going through is not as big of a deal as it seems. It would help considerably if you were less judgmental of yourself, which would help you be less judgmental of others. The whole judgment thing is indeed a vicious circle, and forgiveness has to enter the picture somewhere. Your chart suggests you’re playing the role of harsh parent to yourself more than the role of trusted friend. As the month develops you will have leverage points where you can make decisions concerning how you feel about yourself. These might seem to be emotional, though there is a logical access point. Asking yourself whether something makes sense is a good place to start. I don’t mean makes sense in terms of internal logic — I mean makes sense in terms of being happier or getting what you want from life.
Monthly Horoscopes for May 2013 #947 | By Eric Francis
You’ve likely been through an unsettling or perhaps tumultuous month or two. Events have challenged you to be flexible, tolerant and to make some peace with the fact that many people are different from you. This also means that you are different from they are. However you look at it, you’re in a position where you have to find common ground with others. You cannot set the agenda exclusively, and obviously you cannot have others set the agenda for you. Without some form of negotiating your way into territory you can share with others, you’ll find yourself at an impasse. This happens when people have intractable values. I suggest you look at your values and decide which are flexible and which you cannot compromise on. Then see if you can encourage partners to do the same thing. You are in a situation where something has to give, and where your flexibility will be called on as a bottom line. That’s why I suggest you decide what you’re willing to give, though while you’re at it, you may want to assess your concepts of ‘mutual’, ‘reciprocity’, ‘exchange’ and ‘understanding.’ In the end you will need to reach a consensus. And any honest consensus always starts on the level of values, which are the fundamental elements of who a person really is. So, said another way, this is about you revealing who you truly are — which implies admitting to yourself who you truly are. And yes, that might be a little intimidating.
Scorpio Full Moon for Tuesday, April 23, 2013 | By Genevieve Hathaway
Over the Scorpio Full Moon, emotions may be increasingly intense and strong. Like a glacial river running deep under the ice, when the ice melts all that water is brought to the surface or exposed. This powerful Full Moon is moving you through a warming period, melting the metaphorical ice to expose more of your emotional body. I suggest not getting distracted by thoughts that you’re becoming too emotional or too sensitive; instead dive into your new internal depths. On offer is a chance to explore a part of your emotional body that you have not previously had access to. Feel your way through the territory, perceiving with all of your senses. As you get to know these emotional layers I suggest considering the role they play in your emotional-resources tool belt.
Weekly Horoscope for Friday, April 19, 2013 #946 | By Eric Francis
There’s no way you can keep living with the relationship models that have served you in the past, but which cannot handle the way you and your world are today. There’s too much energy moving for you to hold yourself and others to strict rules or expectations. You also need to know how to work with the fact that people are attracted to you, rather than working against it, or having it work against you. Think of what you’re doing as directing the flow of energy. At the moment you have a lot to manage, and you may have given up keeping track of things. Now would be a good moment to spark yourself to full consciousness and make decisions. Listen to what people say. They will tell you all you need to know about who they are — and in the process, reveal plenty about who you are. Yet of all the information coming through your charts most important is the bit about not resenting when others fancy you. If you do, I suggest you consider it a measure of your self-esteem, and address it on that level. Remember, you don’t have to give up your power when you accept attention, affection and admiration.
Weekly Horoscope for Friday, April 12, 2013 #945 | By Eric Francis
You seem to have unleashed a whole series of rapid changes, and you may be wondering whether you’re in control of your life. I suggest you not ask that as a general question, but rather that you identify specific areas where you have the ability to make decisions, and others where you seem to be at the mercy of other people or of your circumstances. Start with where you know you have the power to choose and try making some decisions. You’re likely to experience the other factors coming into focus and gaining a sense of clarity as you do. I would remind you that your life is not about having fixed values. You have an odd tendency to be inflexible just when you need to stretch and flex the most. You will feel more strength and less chaos when you open up and consider things from a diversity of viewpoints. There is likely to be a clear meeting place between you and someone you care about, if you’re willing to move with what is, in truth, a rapid flow of developments.
Weekly Horoscope for Friday, April 5, 2013 #944 | By Genevieve Hathaway
You are negotiating your way through a somewhat complex relationship situation. This may feel like navigating a maze blindfolded. I suggest using your intuition to feel your way through the situation. As you would use your hands to feel along the walls of the maze and build a mental image of what’s around you, tap into your intuitive body to collect information that can move you through partnership dynamics. What you are making contact with has more to do with material you’re working through internally than an actual relationship problem or difficulty. As you work through this material I suggest you not project your internal state and struggles on a partnership; instead, involve the person in an open dialogue about what you are working through. Holding the space open for yourself to heal and another person to walk this journey with you will also strengthen an existing partnership.
Planet Waves Monthly Horoscope for April 2013 | By Eric Francis
What can you do to place yourself onto some solid emotional ground? You have to live with the situation you’re in, at least for a while; this is not one you can easily evade, run from, or redesign to suit your fancy. And why would you want to? There are so many ways you’re benefiting, and you both understand and want the power of commitment. It would be healthy to account for the ways that you contribute to any emotional situation in your life. Indeed, I suggest you list yourself as a direct co-creator in any and all of your relationships. I know that there’s a way they seem to be thrust at you. I know you don’t understand how or why some things happen. However, taking a passive approach is only going to accentuate that feeling. The more you step up, the more you will feel like you’re able to influence your various life situations. I am not suggesting that you try to take control. I am not suggesting (as you may be tempted to do) that tit-for-tat or “an eye for an eye” is an appropriate response, even when you’re treated unfairly. I am saying claim your space, stand in your responsibility and be true to yourself and to those with whom you’re journeying. That might include asking for what you need, expressing gratitude to those who have helped you or having a dialog about how to improve circumstances for everyone.
Weekly Horoscope for Friday, March 15, 2013 #942 | By Genevieve Hathaway
Your current astrology is highlighting the importance of nurturing and caring for your soul and spiritual side as essential to maintaining a healthy body, mind and emotional state. Think of this in terms of something you know very well — balance. If one aspect is left undernourished then the other areas aren’t as strong. Lately, Mercury has being doing the backstroke through the area of your chart that’s focused on health, helping you discover connections between feeding and caring for your inner self and how you feel on a daily basis. The next question is what do you do with this new information? As Mercury changes direction and begins to move forward, continue to devote equal time to taking care of all aspects of you — mind, body, emotions and soul. An abundance of physical energy and strong health is available to you.
Weekly Horoscope for Friday, March 8, 2013 #941 | By Eric Francis
You may see the possibility of two different paths ahead of you, though it looks like they have a lot more in common, and can be supportive of one another. Said differently, this is not a case of either/or, but rather one of integration, and organizing your life so that the various elements work in a state of synergy. You can stop thinking of your life as existing in parts or in pieces and shift your perspective to the sensation of being a whole person, expressing yourself many different ways. If you find something that does not seem to support the larger whole, ask yourself how you can bring it into the mix. You, your existence and your environment are all far more flexible than you have given them credit for being. The way to make the best use of your abundant opportunities is to stretch yourself into them; experiment like you would mixing colors, combining words and pictures, music and sculpture. Remember, this is about you; there is no ‘it’.
Weekly Horoscope for Friday, March 1, 2013 #940 | By Eric Francis
There are two approaches available to you: competitive or inclusive. Said this way, the choice seems obvious, though every influence in our society is about turning relationships into a zero-sum game. That means a game with many losers and just one winner. The game you want is one where everyone wins. One thing to remember is that there is plenty of you to go around: plenty of love, empathy and appreciation of diversity. You don’t have to ‘commit’ yourself to anyone or anything the way that you were told you had to in the past. The person you need to be committed to is yourself and your own cause, meaning: know your wants and needs. Know what values are guiding you. What I suggest is that you let your imagination guide you, and see who harmonizes with you. Remind yourself how much you have to offer, and you will also remember why it makes sense that others would have so much to offer you. If you bump up against some limit on your self-esteem, climb over it, walk around it or keep going.
Planet Waves Monthly Horoscope for March 2013 | By Eric Francis
You’re the one who brings people together. Though you may not recognize this, many see you in a kind of authority role. You tend to be so soft-spoken or at least careful that this fact might surprise you. Yet you’re a stabilizing force for those around you. This is a special kind of leadership. It involves respecting what is becoming known as healing process, and availability for service. This is different from being ‘self sacrificing’. Indeed it is everything but a sacrifice; mutual gift would be a better description. Yet at times this can be demanding, and it’s necessary to maintain your equilibrium. This is not the same as a perfect balance; Equilibrium is about staying in contact with who you are, even when you cannot fully express those aspects of yourself. That means staying in communication with yourself, monitoring your feelings and being aware of your own needs. I would strongly suggest you take care of yourself, by which I don’t mean long, luxurious spa treatments but rather making sure you get enough rest when possible, eat actual food and maintain your physical space. Make sure you devote some time to other interests at least every couple of days. This is all in service of something larger. You are being called upon to fulfill some truly profound aspect of your purpose, and there’s really no way to tell where it will lead you, except to say deeper into yourself. I would offer one thought, courtesy of A Course in Miracles: everyone teaches, and teaches all the time.
Weekly Horoscope for Friday, Feb. 15, 2013 #938 | By Eric Francis
I suggest you not obsess over your health. This is also not the time to be ‘in balance’. It is the time to immerse yourself in whatever you’re passionate about and to bring passion into whatever you’re doing. The distinction between creativity, work and play no longer exists, at least not at the moment. There are no ‘special’ activities — your whole existence is being infused with an unusual, truly brilliant vitality and sense of potential. You can pour love, energy and creativity into everything you touch, everything you do, and this potency is enhanced by being applied to everything. That said, if you have some preference for what you want, something you’ve been trying to create for a long time, you have the opportunity to do that now. The key is to follow your curiosity and then invest yourself in what you’re doing. If you work a day job, then make sure you can explore in some open-ended span of time, such as when you’re free to stay up all night, take a nap and keep going. Anyway, work is more of a variable than you may think right now.
Weekly Horoscope for Friday, Feb. 8, 2013 #937 | By Eric Francis
In our society at our time in history, there is no aspect of sex that’s not touched or compromised by the abuse of trust or power. This is one reason why sexual situations typically become so complicated so fast. We can find ourselves involved with abuse survivors; we might find ourselves involved with perpetrators. Yet one of the core hypocrisies is that most of the time, we tend to see ourselves as neither. You can safely assume you’re somewhere in the system because you grew up in the midst of all of this. The typical way to deal with this situation is to ignore it, but you’re at the point where that’s no longer possible. The thing you may be feeling is that to confront this web of psychological and sexual intrigue, you have to take a chance — and if so, I would agree with that. All progress requires taking a chance. In this case, the chance is akin to H.G. Wells’ metaphor of how the one-eyed man in the land of the blind is considered crazy — because he can tell light from dark and night from day. It’s worth the risk.
Weekly Horoscope for Friday, Feb. 1, 2013 #936 | By Eric Francis
People seem to be treating you with more respect these days. It’s as if they have some kind of interest in keeping you as a friend or ally, after experimenting with a diversity of other approaches to your presence. At the same time, you are starting to focus your faith in yourself, your creativity and your longterm vision for your life. The two are working together to point you in the direction of some positive outcomes — especially in relationship situations, which have been something of a tender spot for the past year or so. It’s time for you to take some new risks, and one of them is a creative orientation on your partnerships. I believe that a central question in any relationship is, what are we going to make, as opposed to what are we going to do? Making love is a good start, but I don’t think it’s enough. The idea is more like, what are we going to make with love? All that creative energy wants to go somewhere — you get to decide where.
Inner Space Monthly Horoscope for February 2013 | By Eric Francis
Sexual experiments don’t all go well, but some do, and they are worth trying even though the success rate is not 100%. You may be inclined to approach any such experiment with detachment; I suggest you involve yourself, heart and soul, deeply enough to really feel what you’re doing. This is not as obvious as “no scuba gear at the orgy.” I mean that it will benefit you to recognize any exchange with another person as something real, and to authentically express the ways that you care. Remember, this is not about forever — and taking a cool approach rather than a passionate one doesn’t invoke ‘forever’ or protect you from it. As far as your intellect is concerned, I suggest you be smart, notice how people are oriented spiritually around sex, and do the few basic things to take care of your body.
Planet Waves Monthly Horoscope for February 2013 | By Eric Francis
Your creativity may, at the moment, be in service of something else, something besides your personal creative aspirations. From the look of your solar chart, that could work well for you, as a way of deepening your talent, establishing yourself professionally and as a satisfying way to express yourself. Creativity is often confused with something personal. At times, that is true, though this attribute is over-emphasized in our romanticized, glory-oriented notions of what it means to express oneself. You are playing a pivotal role within some organization or group structure. Your devotion is providing stability to guide others around you through various everyday challenges and the occasional unusual challenge. This is a situation where the more you put in, the more you will get back, though you don’t have to think of it that way; rather, the more you put in, the better things will go, for you and for everyone. If you maintain awareness of how there are certain challenges inherent in human nature, you will see the way those challenges can be subverted, minimized or even resolved through creative thinking. You seem to have ideas that are ahead of the crowd or the curve, and I suggest you not hold back. Say what you’re thinking. Be clear when you notice a problem, even if you don’t have a solution for it; your mere acknowledgment of the issue will set the creative process and the group mind into motion. But that’s not enough; make sure you follow through.
Weekly Horoscope for Friday, Jan. 18, 2013 #934 | By Eric Francis
Controlling tendencies have a root, which is usually some form of insecurity. Right now, any such tendencies that you have are being challenged by circumstances that are offering you the opportunity to see that you don’t have control, but you do have a significant influence. I suggest you assert that influence, which involves asserting your creative authority. I am saying it this way to give you extra faith that your ideas are good enough to be authoritative; you can afford to be confident in them. That means putting them into words and maybe pictures, and presenting them to whomever you think needs to see them. Trust your creativity. Trust your ideas. They may need some revision, true of any idea really, but they are strong enough to stand up to a review and you are strong enough to participate. Make sure that you stay with the process of anything being implemented through to completion. Assert yourself at every stage. This could be big.
Weekly Horoscope for Friday, Jan. 11, 2013 #933 | By Eric Francis
I suggest you stay close to home the next week or so, close to a place where you can pull in and retreat. You seem to be processing some unusually deep feelings, though they’re coming through with the approximate ease that water moves through the bedrock of an aquifer: dependably, though slowly, requiring time and patience. The material includes a review of your as-yet unmet emotional and relational needs; there is something about the past that’s holding you close and about which you may have some regrets, including regrets about how you treated someone when you were feeling neglected. At the same time, you may notice that your curiosity is going in new directions. You may think that it’s your brain acting up, though I would propose that this is an actual physical inquisitiveness that is calling you to explore. You may not feel ready now, though if you’re patient with yourself and don’t try to escape from the past, you’ll discover renewed freedom to try some truly interesting experiences.
Inner Space Monthly Horoscope for January 2013 | By Eric Francis
Those who strive for security tend to create false security rather than establish the conditions that would support actual confidence. Skip the externals, for now; work at making peace with the mixed-up, antiquated ideas that you got from your family as a kid and young adult. Some of those people had no idea what it means to be secure on the planet, though fair to say, few people really do. You seem determined to find out; and you’re in the perfect position to do so. One thing you may learn is that feeling grounded involves accepting the fact that the Earth is moving, that it is a work in progress and that you are a work in progress. But there is such a thing as relatively solid ground — and as the next few weeks progress you are likely to discover a few places that match this description.
Planet Waves Monthly Horoscope for January 2013 | By Eric Francis
Self-confidence is ultimately an emotional phenomenon. It doesn’t matter how much you know or what risks you’re willing to take; those are different qualities. True confidence in yourself, that is, the feeling of belonging in your body and in the world, and possessing faith in your ability to handle your circumstances, is a feeling and it emerges from your emotional presence. You may be figuring out the ways that you were taught not to trust yourself, which you then tend to project outward into an environment you think you cannot trust. You may be discovering the ways you’ve been taught to live within the constructs of the past, rather than in your true desires. I would call that a good thing, because if you see your adhesions to the past for what they are, you’ll be able to address them. That can set the template for your whole approach to growth: be glad you see an issue for what it is, then take steps to work it out. Through this process, you may at times feel a deep, burning desire to be independent. You may find yourself making decisions that compel you to indulge a deep autonomy that you’ve never felt before. Take this as far as you can, but not so far that you isolate yourself. If you lean in the direction of emotional self-sufficiency, you’ll figure out that it’s easier to build healthy relationships from that state of being than from any other. And that’s what I would call true confidence.
