Special Comment: Signs of the Times
So, we seem to have survived Mars conjunct Pluto. There was a whole dimension to that aspect that I didn’t mention, with all the politics going on: that Mars expresses the soulful quality of desire that’s contained in Pluto. The Pluto-Capricorn connection feels a lot like the spirit of Eros trapped inside the strictures of religion, school, government and, most of all, family expectations. (This is why coming out to one’s family is such a big deal; sexual truth is, for the most part — but not always — prohibited in family environments.)

Now Mars is moving on to connect with the Uranus-Eris conjunction in Aries. For the next week and a half, Mars will be applying in a square to the conjunction, which comes with its own kind of excitement, provocation and ‘making personal’ the conjunction of our generation. When this aspect is exact on Oct. 29, the Moon is square Mars and opposite the conjunction, which will make it more vivid and real on a visceral level. This conjunction comes as the election season enters its final frenzy and will likely come with new revelations.

Mostly, think of it as being an expression of signs of the times.

Will simply looking ahead fix everything in your life that you want to heal? Not exactly. Yet even young children learn that you have to look in the direction you’re traveling for walking to work well. More elegantly, looking where you want to be is what allows you to steer yourself there, literally and figuratively. Painful lessons from the past can help you get oriented, but they’re not the destination. Look higher and wider for that, starting from where you are now — not where you used to be.

Written in the Planets
Mercury in Libra is still opposite the Uranus-Eris conjunction in Aries. The less you lock into rigid ways of thinking, the easier it will be to bounce off of any unexpected upsets, charged outbursts or anyone who tries to provoke matters from behind the scenes. In fact, the more you can actively take initiative to seek out some new adventures, environments, encounters or collaborators, the better you’ll be able to own the challenges and get creative with them. In the face of impatience (yours or another’s), take care with your words. You don’t need to avoid confrontation, you simply need to speak directly, clearly and fairly, and adjust as needed to the response you get.
