Forty-five minutes south-west of Paris, at the edge of the Chevreuse Valley, a girl celebrates the colors of the season with her floating balloon.
Paris-based photographer Danielle Voirin travels the world and documents her experiences in photographs. She takes street photography and photojournalism a shade beyond even art, to the level of mysticism. You may see more of her work on her website DanielleVoirin.com, or her alt website, DaniVoirin.com.
This is absolutely exquisite, Danielle! So poignant. It reminds me of a film that was always shown at birthday parties when we were kids – about a red balloon. It also made me think of a rather quaint postcard exhibition I went to years ago, when I was studying in the north of England. Many of the postcards showed luscious green landscapes with one or two people wearing red sweaters. It was explained that this was a trick that was used by photographers to bring out the landscape.
Thank you so much Lizzy. I was quite happy to see this girl walking by, it would be a much less interesting image without her!
