Planet Waves Weekly Horoscope, Feb. 12 – Feb. 19

Aries (March 20-April 19)

Aries (March 20-April 19) — It’s time to reconcile who you are with who you present yourself as being. As the digital era has developed so rapidly during the past 10 years, evermore people are acting as their own publicists. To some extent this is true for all of us. You have reached a moment of reconciliation, where your image and your reality need to be perfectly in sync, or at least honestly reflective of one another. This is about more than having an accurate Facebook page or Match.com profile. It’s about a level of integrity wherein you actually are who you are. Recent events may have demonstrated certain inconsistencies between image and substance, and the problems they can create. You may not feel comfortable fully exposing yourself. But if that is true, the question is, why do you want people to know some things about you but not others? What goes on what list?

Taurus (April 19- May 20)

Taurus (April 19-May 20) — You are discovering how subtle leadership is — and self-leadership as well. You know that you must be your own best example, which qualifies as authentic maturity. The real revelation is how much freedom that offers you. This includes the freedom both to think and to act, and to navigate the many rules and regulations of society in a way that facilitates your creative mission. You can afford to experiment more boldly on the level of your message. Clearly you have something to say, and if you act on that you would potentially be transgressing certain customs or the expectations of others. That, however, seems to be the point of having anything original to say. Doing so is about neither mischief nor approval; rather, it’s a kind of probe into reality to see what happens. Keep your sense of humor.

Gemini (May 20- June 21)

Gemini (May 20-June 21) — You are getting clear about what you want to do. That, in turn, seems to be based on what you think is possible. So I suggest you consider that anything you want to do is possible, so that you don’t limit your plans. You may need to revise them at some point, though for now, think big. Allow the visionary piece of your mind to roam free and unhindered. This is less about what you want to do and more about who you want to become. Take the chance and consider who that might be over the course of five to 10 years, or even twice that. This will compel you to assume that you will live at least that long, which is part of the vision that you want. There is something else, which is widening your overall sense of scale, of time, distance and your potential. Give it a big stretch and remember, the most important faith is faith in yourself.

Cancer (June 21- July 22)

Cancer (June 21-July 22) — The Sun ingresses Pisces this week, after a spectacular New Moon in Aquarius. You can think of this as a reminder to keep your commitments to yourself. The promises you make to others are something that you take seriously. Part of what makes you who you are is that you strive to be true to your word. What may be preventing you from honoring your own agenda is some experience of commitment with someone else. Because of the depth of your involvement, this may not be a matter of cutting your ties and moving on. You might think of it as a matter of balance, though it looks more like integrating some of your desires into your life in a more holistic way. This is a pattern where everything supports everything else, rather than detracts. If you take careful and conscious steps, you can accomplish this.

Leo (July 22- Aug. 23)

Leo (July 22-Aug. 23) — It is likely that you will become much more careful with a business or financial relationship that you may have taken for granted. The potential for mutual benefit is profound, and it is worth the personal investment you have to make to bring that to fruition. What you may be struggling with a bit is the sense of transition, seemingly with no guarantee of the outcome. Yet in most ways the outcome is in your hands. Admitting that fact alone will feel like cashing in on your good karma. Among the other helpful factors in your environment are ideas such as ‘we’re in this together’, and ‘I’ve been preparing for this for a long time’. In fact that may translate to a very, very long time — many lifetimes of training for what you are now doing. When you meet any challenge, remind yourself of that.

Virgo (Aug. 23- Sep. 22)

Virgo (Aug. 23-Sep. 22) — As planets continue to collect in your opposite sign Pisces, this will be an exciting week to be a Virgo. It’s as if everything you thought of as responsibility morphs into a reward. Given that, you could say that the greater your sense of duty, the greater the benefit you and others will receive. What seems impossible one moment can emerge into the manifest world the next — so don’t burden yourself with the question of potential. There will be plenty of transformation going on over the next week or so, which is why I suggest you take a loose and observational approach to existence, participating when you feel called to do so. Any transaction can lead to the contact you seek. Yet it’s more likely to be in some unforeseen future form than in its current form, which is why transitions are your best friend.

Libra (Sep. 22 - Oct. 23)

Libra (Sep. 22-Oct. 23) — If you’re feeling stressed out, or like you’ve been doing one thing too long, I suggest you relax a bit. Take a breath. Take a look at the world around you. Remind yourself that time is always in motion, and that the world is in a constant state of flux. Remind yourself to get out of your own way. Be honest about what you want, and notice how you feel when you do that. Pay attention to any possible superstition you may feel about desire being a hindrance to fulfillment. Notice your level of confidence. And then, watch what unfolds. You may not have direct control over the next few developments of your life, though for now you can afford to say that you don’t need to. Your life is heading in the direction of healing, of connection and of service. Yet that’s just the beginning. Those qualities lay the foundation for many other possibilities. First things first.

Scorpio (Oct. 23- Nov. 22)

Scorpio (Oct. 23-Nov. 22) — For you, creativity is usually a matter of confidence. This includes not just the art or music that you may make but also the way you approach every aspect of life. This is one of the deep misunderstandings of existence. I recognize that some tasks seem so boring that there is no possible way to take an innovative approach, such as sorting out a thousand files, shoveling your driveway or entering figures into Quickbooks. But is that really so? The interesting approach to seemingly boring or repetitive tasks can lead to methods and solutions that save time and energy, or that get the job done better. Anyway, most of what you do is more exciting than those things. And I would suggest that this actually does come down to a matter of confidence, and of challenging yourself to remain alert, involved and inventive at all times.

Sagittarius (Nov. 22 - Dec. 22)

Sagittarius (Nov. 22-Dec. 22) — Don’t let your doubts run away with you. You may feel them, they may tug at your sleeve or at your emotions, but don’t believe them. Just notice them. Be on the lookout for the one that says ‘you are to blame’. That is the shadow form of something much more significant, more mature and that does not involve guilt: you are responsible for how you respond to your environment. It would seem that you are moving into a new level of self-understanding involving your family, in particular, your father’s side of the family. You have been held accountable for many things that have nothing to do with you; they existed long before you were born. Normally these things go unquestioned, because they existed in your environment since before you can remember. Now, they may suddenly come into focus, and I suggest you question everything.

Capricorn (Dec. 22- Jan. 20)

Capricorn (Dec. 22-Jan. 20) — You may feel like something is bugging you but you don’t know what it is. You might be feeling upbeat and able to face the challenges of life, but there’s something that you cannot put into words that’s annoying you. The obvious solution? Try putting it into words. You might not be able to fit it into five words or a page, but if you do The Artist’s Way morning pages routine for a week or so, you will learn a lot. That means writing out three pages as early in the day as you can, and setting the pages aside. After about a week, read them over and see what you’ve got. It’s likely you will have figured out your little thing long before that, and will have discovered that it is, indeed, rather small. But it may give you a big clue to cultivating future happiness.

It’s this sense of presence and connection that our listeners respond to, as much as the information Eric offers. Birthday readings from Planet Waves are not predictive; they’re more like illuminating infusions that will inspire you. Recent customers put it this way:

“I found out how to make myself feel safe in the ways I needed to feel in order to put those animal hooves on the ground and make something happen in the real world time.”

— Jennifer

“I am stunned by your seeming x-ray ability to see into the soul’s unfolding growth. Your insights are tremendously valuable.” — Loretta

Your 2015 birthday reading covers new material, making it the ideal companion to your Cosmophilia annual reading.
It’s also a perfect gift of encouragement for yourself or your favorite person with an Aquarius Sun or Aquarius rising.

This reading is downloadable for multiple listens, and also comes with your tarot reading for the year and access to last year’s reading so you can check Eric’s accuracy. As with other recent readings, you’ll be invited to participate in a live call-in program where you can ask Eric questions about the astrology for Aquarius in greater depth.

Aquarius (Jan. 20- Feb. 19)

Aquarius (Jan. 20-Feb. 19) — Wednesday, there will be the second New Moon in Aquarius within just four weeks. This is one of the most unusual New Moons I’ve ever seen — happening 1/60th of one degree away from Pisces. If there was ever an event that happened in Aquarius and Pisces simultaneously, this is it. How to interpret this? You are very, very close to accomplishing something, though that something is deeply personal. It’s all about your relationship to yourself. To me it looks like some profound misunderstanding that you’ve been carrying around is suddenly resolved. You have been holding yourself accountable, and then suddenly you may discover that you’re off the hook. This has some positive implications for you; the question is, what can you do, now that you’re free?

If you would like to hear the first section of your Sagittarius, Aquarius or Capricorn birthday reading — or if you’re curious about what a birthday reading is — I have set up this page where you can listen free.

Pisces (Feb. 19- March 20)

Pisces (Feb. 19-March 20) — You get a second chance at something you were sure was a lost cause. That this happens may surprise you; you may not have seen it coming, or thought that it was remotely possible. This development may manifest a number of different ways — for example, as discovering an advantage you’d overlooked; remembering something you had forgotten, but that changes everything; or discovering you have the cooperation of your friends or colleagues, when you were starting to doubt that. Either way, there is the feeling of some deeper truth being revealed to you. Whatever happens will provide a boost to your confidence. At the same time, you have this idea that you must take absolute responsibility for yourself. You are better at this than you think and you can cut yourself some slack. As others take increasing responsibility for themselves, you will have a lot less to worry about.

Planet Waves Weekly Horoscope, Feb. 5 – Feb. 12

Planet Waves

Weekly Horoscope for Thursday, Feb. 5, 2015 #1035 | By Eric Francis

Aries (March 20-April 19)

Aries (March 20-April 19) — What is your ideal concept of a group? And if those people got together, where would it be? Most group activities have shifted to the Internet. Your chart describes you planning some kind of collective activity, designed with a specific purpose (rather than only recreational). I suggest you plan on the small side. And keep it original, and a bit secluded. You might think of this as a gathering of people who speak the same language, which might be the common ground of science, literature, art or technology. Imagine if you had the opportunity to fully express and explore some unusual idea with people who clearly understood it. Think of it as a sacred space for that particular interest, no matter how odd or unusual, with the result being a moment of freedom to consider and share your ideas. Try it out, and keep it real (in three-dimensional space rather than online).

Taurus (April 19- May 20)

Taurus (April 19-May 20) — Venus in Pisces is working its way toward a conjunction with Chiron, the planet of healing and awareness. The combination of these three factors looks spectacular, as if you get to reveal or express yourself in some unusual way. The feeling described by this aspect is bold and vulnerable, yet because it’s in Pisces, it has a public quality, extending outward. It would be ideal for some kind of musical or theatrical performance, art exhibition or coming-out party. Even if you’ve got nothing special planned, at least two factors will follow you around. One is that you will have some more-potent-than-average impact or influence on the people around you. The other is that you get some out-of-the-ordinary confirmation of your talent, such as getting a glimpse of what it feels like to truly be recognized. With that in mind, turn it up and shine out.

Gemini (May 20- June 21)

Gemini (May 20-June 21) — Mercury is gradually slowing to a halt in Aquarius, and Mercury retrograde will end on Feb. 11. Normally this would arrive with some turbulence, and you might have to do some rearranging of your agenda next week. However, this event looks more like an opportunity to focus one specific long-range plan. The idea is not to plot out your whole life, but rather to proceed with a specific focus. The way this looks, there is one particular intention that you’ve had, and which has resisted coming to fruition, or been hung up on some issue you don’t understand. If you recognize this description, the thing that the situation is awaiting is your commitment. When you make up your mind and devote yourself fully, you will experience greater faith in your plans. And you may have the feeling that providence, or some power greater than yourself, responds to you in kind. Keep that dialog going.

Cancer (June 21- July 22)

Cancer (June 21-July 22) — Even if you’re not the spiritual type (which you probably are), I suggest you send some energy in that direction. Use whatever tools or resources you have. Consider ways that meditation or contact with your higher power have brought some result in the past. Tune into the feeling that was involved; for you, the unseen realm has a specific sensation or tone that confirms you’re on that wavelength. This is likely to feel exceptionally positive, loving and potentially erotic. Yet that last attribute can have the odd sensation of sexual one way you look at it, but not exactly sexual the other way you look at it. There are indeed two distinct facets to this, and you’re free to choose either one at any time. The only thing you’d need to do is be aware that the other one exists concurrently. There’s an important metaphysical formula here.

Leo (July 22- Aug. 23)

Leo (July 22-Aug. 23) — You may feel like you need more of something, or more space, or more time. What you’re likely to find is space opening up within you. Yet to notice that, you would need to focus your attention inward. Think of this as opening up a sanctuary in your mind. That becomes the space where you are the host of external reality. Imagine it’s a room where you invite the people you know and the events you perceive. As you do this, an exchange may open up; something that seemed impossible manifests for you to experience. The more consciously you hold open your inner space, the more you will open up the potential for exchange with others. As for time, take it slowly right now. Part of the sensation of time going quickly is the tendency of modern humans to rush. Cooperation will help; many hands do indeed make light work.

Virgo (Aug. 23- Sep. 22)

Virgo (Aug. 23-Sep. 22) — Though yours is a mutable sign, subject to frequent changes, you need to guard against rigid emotions. These are most likely to arrive in the form of being self-judgmental. You might respond to that as digging in and claiming your right to say no — which is indeed your cosmic privilege. You might want to claim, at the same time, your right to say yes, and to say maybe. I suggest you guide your choices in a way that keeps your options open rather than narrows them down. The way to do this is to recognize when you’re judging yourself and consciously choose to let that go. The thing about judgment is that it’s connected to guilt, and guilt is the feeling of being convicted without a trial. If you are fair to yourself, you will see your options. If you forgive yourself you will be able to breathe, and choose among them.

Libra (Sep. 22 - Oct. 23)

Libra (Sep. 22-Oct. 23) — You may be feeling a strong pull in your own direction, which is to say, away from relationships. Yet there is something in one particular connection that keeps you coming back, despite the tension you may be feeling there; despite the tendency of this relationship to shake you up. The direction to go is neither toward nor away — it’s in a third direction, which is a space of healing. Healing is likely to feel submissive and pleasurable, as if you’re releasing yourself to a process of some kind. This may feel like being carried, or transported. You may have the sensation of journeying deep into yourself to retrieve something that you may have lost contact with at some point earlier in your life. When you find it, you will discover a familiar blend of the sensual and the mystical, which is your true home.

Scorpio (Oct. 23- Nov. 22)

Scorpio (Oct. 23-Nov. 22) — It will be easy to lead or follow a partner into some rich creative and erotic territory. You may notice that one of you has the capability of going into a state of mind or of feelings that the other does not have such ready access to — but which can be found through the miracle of partnering. This will also work in solo situations, as your inner male and inner female energies have rarely been so wide-open and full spectrum. Allow your imagination to go free. Think of these experiences as experiments, as art projects, as adventures. Let yourself be led out of your typical patterns of sexuality and relationships into something that is unfamiliar and feels daring. What you do will reach close to the core of who you are and influence every other aspect of your life.

Sagittarius (Nov. 22 - Dec. 22)

Sagittarius (Nov. 22-Dec. 22) — You may be noticing that the more emotional side of your nature has been coming out lately, and it’s about to reach another peak. To my eyes this looks like an introspective creative space opening up within you. This is the part of the process of art or music that’s the most internal, prior to the actual expression. You are in the alchemical dimension where your inner movements and revelations give rise to what you might let out. Honor the inner mystery of creation as it begins on the level of feeling and emotion. Notice the rich spectrum of memories and experiences that might give rise to. Then allow that profoundly personal process to move you into formulating some new idea or form of expression. Keep this close to yourself for now. You do not need to share it, nor are you under any obligation to. Yet it remains yours to share, to offer, and to experience yourself.

If you would like to hear the first section of your Sagittarius, Aquarius or Capricorn birthday reading — or if you’re curious about what a birthday reading is — I have set up this page where you can listen free.
Capricorn (Dec. 22- Jan. 20)

Capricorn (Dec. 22-Jan. 20) — There may not be words for what you’re feeling, though you would benefit from finding ways to express it. One contradiction might be that your experience is too deep for words, or too beautiful, or too distant from them. That is the time to find the words, which you may be searching for. You may have the feeling that words will diminish the depth of what you’re feeling or reduce the beauty, or pain, or passion, to an object form. That is a superstition I suggest you challenge. There is something unusual that you seem ready to express, to relate and to communicate about. It’s not new, however — it’s something you’ve been thinking about, feeling and experiencing for years, and which has recently come into a new degree of focus. If you are searching for or struggling with words, I have a suggestion — pictures will help.

Aquarius (Jan. 20- Feb. 19)

Aquarius (Jan. 20-Feb. 19) — Mercury is slowing to a station in your sign this week. It’s been retrograde since late January, and the whole process has been in Aquarius. Here’s how I would tell the story, based on the chart: You’ve been in search of something you may have forgotten or abandoned. That something is a way you used to relate to yourself, and it was a beautiful thing; well, not a thing, but a space where you could relate to yourself in a certain way. For example, it might have been the state of mind wherein you used to keep a journal. The journal was important, but the devotion to doing so, the ritual, the honoring of the inner space, was the real gift. It may have been a yoga practice, or a spiritual practice, or even reading. It is something done in a designated space, which served as a personal ashram. It looks more mental or intellectual than it does physical, though it could be either or both. You are very close to that space right now; you are right at the door or you may be standing inside.

If you would like to hear the first section of your Sagittarius, Aquarius or Capricorn birthday reading — or if you’re curious about what a birthday reading is — I have set up this page where you can listen free.
Pisces (Feb. 19- March 20)

Pisces (Feb. 19-March 20) — These have been a bold few weeks for you. You are experiencing what it means to have Chiron and Neptune in your sign. Though these are long-term transits, and somewhat well developed by now, they are being lit up by the presence of Venus and Mars. This whole constellation of planets has been offering you a look at your actual potential, and the opportunity to feel what it’s like to be yourself in full-spectrum form. Mercury, for its part, is slowing to a station in a sensitive corner of your chart, which is adding a depth of inner vision unusual even for you. Here is how I would sum things up: You are learning to engage the physical with the spiritual. You are bringing what is normally etheric or astral into some solid form, and you are doing so in a way that’s revealing of what is possible: the beauty of translating your inner world into tangible form. The beauty of real.

Planet Waves Weekly Horoscope, Jan. 29 – Feb. 5

Aries (March 20-April 19)

Aries (March 20-April 19) — Use your imagination. It’s all you need. If you can visualize something, you are most of the way to creating it. You may not even need to take that second step, because just considering the possibilities is beautiful. Yet you’re likely to take action, and when you do, make sure you’re focused on what you want the most. Please don’t compromise based on what you think is possible or impossible. Right now all potentials are equally accessible. What you can render in your imagination is just one step away from manifesting in reality, which is why it would be wise of you to stick to what you want to manifest, create or access — then allow that to be real with no guilt. Focusing that one thought will have more healing power than a year of therapy.

Taurus (April 19- May 20)

Taurus (April 19-May 20) — I suggest you not let a little resistance or seeming obstacle persuade you of anything. Indeed, should you encounter something that seems to be slowing you down, I suggest you just try a little harder. If you focus on what you want to create in your most idealistic concept of life, you will have more strength and motivation to address any practical issues that may arise. Dispense with them efficiently, take care of the basics and move on to what you know matters more. And at the moment, I assure you that pleasure matters a good deal more than business, than profits, than most responsibility. I would, however, maintain some awareness if you are needed to make a spot decision or to resolve a situation that someone brings to your attention. Again, be efficient, check your work and move on.

Gemini (May 20- June 21)

Gemini (May 20-June 21) — You seem ready to revolt against everything you ever believed that was not true. Remember, though, that this is not merely a mental exercise. What you believe is true or not will directly influence what you choose to do, or not to do; and whether you have faith in yourself. Don’t waste too much time on this. What is not true does not matter; as soon as you deem it so, emphasize what you know is real, or meaningful, or creative. It’s true there may be that side of you wondering what consequences will befall you if you violate someone else’s idea of morality. If that happens, remind yourself that any imposition of morals onto another person is inherently hypocritical. You are the one who decides what is right for you. Claim that ground and use it well.

Cancer (June 21- July 22)

Cancer (June 21-July 22) — Your astrology is pulsating with sex and art right now, and it’s coming to a boil right on the hotspot of your cosmic stove. In astrology there is one house that combines experimentation, daring, creativity, passion and teenage-styled curiosity — and that is where the action is for you. For your purposes there is very little difference between these things, though I would invite you to seek out what you want in the form you want it most. I suggest you touch on as many of those 5th house attributes as you can, with the emphasis on curiosity and daring. If you swim out into some deep water, you will have all the more fun. The creativity piece is about doing something you’ve never done before, or in a way you’ve never done it before. Treat the whole world and all your experiences as surfaces to paint on, and then watch and feel the colors burst into cosmic fire.

Leo (July 22- Aug. 23)

Leo (July 22-Aug. 23) — Intimacy takes patience. More than that, it takes being receptive. That, in turn, requires letting go of control and experiencing trust. If you look around at the world we live in, none of these things are well supported by the environment. Even the most relaxed individuals are being conditioned to be control freaks. Patience is in increasingly short supply. And the sensation of being exploited does not lend itself to trust, or to receiving. But your astrology is favoring all of those naturally human qualities right now. It’s as if your own psychic environment is overriding the world around you, and allowing you to suspend all the usual rules. But you will need to take those first steps, slow down a bit, choose to let go of control. Most of all, relax and receive. Yes, this all takes trust. That’s the whole idea.

Virgo (Aug. 23- Sep. 22)

Virgo (Aug. 23-Sep. 22) — You seem to have a lot to do, but really it’s less than you think. With Mercury retrograde, I would suggest a few simple strategies. First, keep a blank pad on your desk. If your desk is your Droid and a seat on the D train, then keep a little notebook with you. First, make a list of several partially done tasks that have been nagging you for several months. Complete three of them and notice how much better you feel. One or more of these is likely to include a purely technical task or some form of system maintenance, such as backing up your disk drive. When you work, be attentive and take safeguards. While you’re completing these old tasks, keep your notebook handy and begin sketching out some future tasks — again, ones you’ve wanted to do for a while. As you sketch, develop a basic strategy for getting started that includes one or two steps you can take straight away.

Libra (Sep. 22 - Oct. 23)

Libra (Sep. 22-Oct. 23) — You may be wondering when all the relentless energy is going to relent. It may not, ever — which means the solution is to make choices about your environment that provide you with the kind of space you need for specific tasks. Right now that would appear to be space for what you might think of as ‘creative tasks’ — those involving breaking new ground, exploring, or playing. This may involve clearing a table or your desk and focusing the necessary supplies. However, more significant is mental space, which includes your use of time. Right now in the onrush of digital life, time is organized like walking on a high wire from Point A to Point B — with the seeming risk of falling off. The kind of time you need is organized as a three-dimensional space where you can walk around freely, with no fear of falling, and with minimal scheduling involved. That’s where your best ideas are.

Scorpio (Oct. 23- Nov. 22)

Scorpio (Oct. 23-Nov. 22) — Your astrology is guiding you in the direction of the exotic, the mystical, and toward a field of experience with a broad horizon. Indeed it’s more than guiding you; there seems to be an irresistible pull toward this wide and beautiful territory. It’s not merely conceptual — it’s physical, actual three-dimensional space as well as an idea. It might be easy to get lost in the fantasy rather than taking the seeming risk of the actual journey to new experience. If you take the journey, leave plenty of room for how it might be different from the idea. Think of the actual experience as an experiment with an unknown outcome. As long as you don’t predict the outcome, or attempt to script the encounter, you will have fun. That is, as long as you remember the key ingredient: take a chance.

Sagittarius (Nov. 22 - Dec. 22)

Sagittarius (Nov. 22-Dec. 22) — Notice who is rubbing up against you, wanting contact with you. Notice, especially, anyone you feel you may not be interested in, but who seems interested in you. There may be some rather excellent potential in such an encounter, though you will miss it if you act as if your mind is made up in advance. It’s too easy to act like you’ve seen it all before. You might also overlook the person if they don’t show up strongly enough on your high-voltage radar. It’s more challenging to slow down, to inquire, to listen, to feel, to notice. And perhaps even more of an emotional risk to allow yourself to feel that someone so beautiful could really be interested in you. Anyone who is might also be just a little intimidated by you as well — it would help if you turned in their direction, and gently closed that little gap.

Capricorn (Dec. 22- Jan. 20)

Capricorn (Dec. 22-Jan. 20) — Planets are aligning in a way that says: express yourself. Speak, write, pick up the telephone, photograph, sketch. Your direction of travel is inward as well as outward. What you say to anyone you are saying to yourself. How you perceive anyone is a comment on your perception as much as it is on that seemingly separate entity. These thoughts and ideas and reflections you have about reality, which are really all about you, are of an especially rare kind over the next few days. I suggest you explore generously, and in a way that you can document. In other words, this is not so much about thinking or meditating but rather putting your thoughts and ideas into some form that you can see, feel and appreciate in the coming days, months and years. The discoveries you can make will be that good — and worth revisiting many times.

Aquarius (Jan. 20- Feb. 19)

Aquarius (Jan. 20-Feb. 19) — You might consider saying the one thing you’re holding back. It’s getting in the way of so much else that you have to offer. Whether this is something you have to say to yourself or to someone else, I am not sure; in either circumstance it would require a full inner admission and deep consideration. I just suggest you not stop there, that is, stop short of actually speaking the words to someone who will hear them, or to whom they might matter. Your relationship to yourself and therefore to existence is going through a profound shift. While this has many subtle dimensions, the net effect is so tangible and immediate and real that it’s impossible to miss. You’re not going through a passing phase; you are going through a rite of passage into a new era of your journey.

Pisces (Feb. 19- March 20)

Pisces (Feb. 19-March 20) — You are experiencing two distinct facets of your nature that each seem to be all of who you are. The effect may be rather convincing, as if you have two entities inhabiting your feelings, your senses and your thoughts. These may, in turn, seem to have two different agendas, which may seem to conflict. But do they really? Are there really two of you, or rather are there two or more ways that you tap into something deep and let it out? I suggest you experiment with that approach. You seem to be experiencing two amazing pools of feeling, inspiration, talent and the need to bring that forth into the world. Yet each of these leads to a common pool, to a vast space within yourself that contains all your potential. You do not need to choose anything at the expense of anything else. Merely reach deeper and bring out what you find there.

Planet Waves Weekly Horoscope, Jan. 15 – 22

Aries (March 20-April 19)

Aries (March 20-April 19) — Your role in a group or organization that you’re affiliated with is about to change. So too will the purpose of that group in your life. Developments will occur in a series of events over the coming week, and you’ll want to take them one at a time, and consciously process the information. Each time you learn something, make sure you’re aware there may be one more bit. As you gather the details, you’ll get a better idea of what you need to do, who you can trust and what the purpose of the changes is really about. Pay close attention and act cautiously, because these developments can influence your professional income, for better or for worse. Be aware that the dust won’t fully settle until the second week of February, when Mercury stations direct. Till then tread lightly and make no assumptions.

Taurus (April 19- May 20)

Taurus (April 19-May 20) — Step up to the challenge where professional responsibilities are concerned. You are no longer playing in the minor leagues. You’re working on a level where people are depending on your judgment, your knowledge and your skill at handling potentially complex situations. This has taken you time and a real investment, and you have every reason to be confident in yourself. Invariably, complex situations involve people, their personalities and coordinating communication among them. That seems to be the only management skill that matters these days. You’re in an excellent position to do something that many people find challenging — to listen. That will give you access to the mysterious power known as having a clue what people are saying. That will give you the opportunity to solve a problem, which by the way you may need to solve twice.

Gemini (May 20- June 21)

Gemini (May 20-June 21) — If you change your mind about a long-term plan or goal, I suggest you not send out a press release. Keep your decision to yourself. I suggest you not cancel any plans or arrangements until you’ve given this some time — my recommendation is at least one month. And if you can avoid it, don’t make firm commitments for what you’re planning to do — rather, take steps to keep your options open. Rather than thinking of this as a ‘final’ decision, feel out your options. By feel I mean sit with, and get the actual feeling of. Slip into that reality for a while and give yourself permission to make that choice. You actually have quite a few more than two choices, and this is not an all-or-nothing circumstance. Many shades of mix and match are possible, and once you begin to move on your plans other possibilities will open up.

Cancer (June 21- July 22)

Cancer (June 21-July 22) — Keep a keen eye on financial and business matters. You’re in a more powerful position than you think, though as always where transactions, partnerships and shared resources are concerned, you must be alert, detail-oriented and as shrewd as you can muster up. If you have investments, keep an eye on them. If you’re interested in new investments, make sure you take care of the ‘due diligence’ thing, which I suggest you stretch out at least until Mercury stations direct on Feb. 11. During that time, I suggest you allocate cash only to basic necessities or operations costs and minimize other exposures. As you do this, you will learn a lot about your own finances, how you do business and the ways you can make decisions that give you a considerable advantage. This really is a scenario where knowledge is power.

Leo (July 22- Aug. 23)

Leo (July 22-Aug. 23) — Take extra care to ensure that what people tell you is actually true. However, we live on a planet where for many people, deception is a way of life. Question the obvious, look carefully at what seems unusual and even inquire about what seems perfectly normal. The thing you don’t want to do is let things slide and hope for the best. I’m not suggesting you change your nature and become a suspicious person. However, your trusting nature does not always work in your favor, and it’s often an excuse for slacking a bit and not verifying what people say to you. Sometimes it takes guts to ask a follow-up question, much less ask for documentation. I suggest that you do both, and take various steps to reality check, that is, check your own perceptions. And for a while, hold yourself to the same standards of verification.

Virgo (Aug. 23- Sep. 22)

Virgo (Aug. 23-Sep. 22) — You may not be able to make head or tail of what someone close to you is going through, feeling or becoming, though don’t let that stop you from having fun with the experience. Yes, this is the extra zesty kind, and it’s probably not on the menu. What you may be concerned about is how others will perceive your experience, which is in reality nobody’s business but your own. If privacy means anything, it’s the right to feel and to experience intimacy in the way you choose to. Anyway, the shape of your chart is describing you going against the current of what is popular or considered a matter of common sense. Every factor in your astrology is pushing you to think for yourself, which means having exactly the experiences you want to have, for whatever reason you want to have them.

Libra (Sep. 22 - Oct. 23)

Libra (Sep. 22-Oct. 23) — You simply must experiment. Whether this is with art, with ideas or with sex (or better still, all three), a rare combination of factors is taking you into your own personal avant garden. You can go beyond anything ordinary, which seems to be what the planets are conspiring to get you to do. The feeling of doing this is taking a risk. I don’t mean dancing on the edge of the roof. I mean the sensation of going into unknown, strange or unpredictable territory. Allow yourself into that state of mind where you don’t know what will happen next. Then once you’re there, consciously allow anything to happen. You can afford to have some misgivings that you consider and disregard. You are in a contained space; there are natural limits in place. Get to that spot where you know you’re pushing them.

Scorpio (Oct. 23- Nov. 22)

Scorpio (Oct. 23-Nov. 22) — It’s obvious that your ideas about life go well beyond those of your family and very likely your closest friends. They are more concerned with keeping things tidy and organized than they are with discovering what is possible. Right now you are being drawn into acknowledging desires that would make many people around you nervous. When I say drawn into, I mean that it’s like you’ve been picked up by a current and are being carried into a place that you know you have in you all the time, but which recently seems to have stirred to life in an unusual way. What you’re feeling is the intensity that comes from inside you, needing no external stimulus. What is coming in from the outside is making things more interesting, adding some flavor and diversity. The creativity and passion are coming from you. Remember!

Sagittarius (Nov. 22 - Dec. 22)

Sagittarius (Nov. 22-Dec. 22) — What may have seemed like a great idea may no longer seem that way — though there are a whole bunch of better ideas on the way. One of the themes of this year and of the foreseeable future is focusing yourself, which is another way of saying that the result of every day must be some form of work product. Work itself is not enough. Being busy is not enough. Making money is certainly not enough. It will help you immensely to establish a discipline associated with the projects you’ve had in mind for a while. Start with one of them. Break it down into steps and start taking those steps. Persist every day, not allowing the distractions of the world to get in the way of what you know you want to do. Around this basic daily practice, something much more comprehensive can grow. Commit your energy daily — preferably at about the same time every day.

Yours & truly,

Capricorn (Dec. 22- Jan. 20)

Capricorn (Dec. 22-Jan. 20) — Be careful with money, and slow down the implementation of your business plans. A short delay now will save long delays later in the year. Take the time to get it right, and to plan your timing carefully. I suggest that with anything of a financial nature — that is to say, involving outlay of cash, unusual use of credit, or new plans for income — go on pause until around Feb. 14. There are some things that may not be able to wait, though if you evaluate them carefully you may find a workaround. Unless there is some kind of absolute, inviolable deadline, explain to others that you’ll be ready to sign or have that paperwork in a few weeks. Where money and commitments are concerned, it pays to honor Mercury retrograde.

Aquarius (Jan. 20- Feb. 19)

Aquarius (Jan. 20-Feb. 19) — The Sun ingresses your sign in a few days, followed by a rather spectacular New Moon, followed by Mercury stationing retrograde in your sign. That’s a lot of Aquarius and that suggests an unusual degree of activity for you, some unpredictable events, and a new phase of your inner journey. In fact the ‘inner journey’ has been the main theme of your charts for several years, and I suggest that you take a survey of where you’ve gone. Declare the Mercury retrograde that ends on Feb. 11 a kind of review period, where you tell yourself the story of what you’ve experienced the past six years. Start with a list of the major events, changes of location, career moves, relationship developments and your own creative plans. You will get an idea how much territory you’ve covered. That, in turn, will help you figure out what you want to do next. Clearly, something is brewing.

Pisces (Feb. 19- March 20)

Pisces (Feb. 19-March 20) — Mars in your sign is stoking up your desire to live and to make contact. Mars in the fashion of Pisces is a self-sustaining creative dynamo. Monday, Mars focuses an exact conjunction to Neptune, which feels like connecting to some elemental source of who you are. You’re likely to have a drive to express that in some way, and I suggest you make contact now and let that inspire you for the next couple of years. Then next week Mars connects with Chiron, in a conjunction that will remind you how much strength, awareness and power you hold in your hands. That is more than a metaphor — Chiron almost always expresses itself through the hands, whether for healing, loving touch, some creative enterprise or digital (manual) contact with the wider world. Mars won’t be back in Pisces till the end of 2016, so get it while it’s hot.

Planet Waves Weekly Horoscope, Jan. 8 – 15

Aries (March 20-April 19)

Aries (March 20-April 19) — Trying to imagine how others perceive you can be perilous, and you’re almost always wrong. It’s such a waste of time and energy I suggest you skip it, and hang out where you feel good, where you feel welcome and where people willingly make eye contact with you. However, this is a fine time to keep your promises, take extra responsibility for and with the people around you, and hold yourself fully responsible for what you choose. It’s also a great moment to defuse any disagreements in your environment or at least to take the opportunity to ratchet them down rather than ramp them up. Go gently in your environment. The vibe in the air is that of instant karma, so spread peace and love in ways large and small.

Taurus (April 19- May 20)

Taurus (April 19-May 20) — Leadership can be perilous. When you get to the point of involvement in life where you exceed the limits set by your parents (or where you know you have to), it can be frightening — until it’s not. You look like you’re ready to see not just how far, but how well you can push those limits. All parents set them, consciously or unconsciously, and they end up being the template of how we interact in situations where authority is involved. For you this is about taking a new role in the structure of any group you are involved with. This role depends entirely on your intelligence and creativity; that is the theme. Your breakthrough is figuring out that you’re one of the smartest people in the room and not caring if that offends anyone. A happy day.

Gemini (May 20- June 21)

Gemini (May 20-June 21) — Be conscious of those with a political agenda. By that I mean anything other than a personal agenda of goodwill and intimacy. However, you face a challenge in discerning this, because you’re likely to either be a bit too harsh or a bit too generous in your evaluation. You need to give people a little time to show their colors, such as a day or two. Listen to what they say and in particular what they prioritize. Notice any tendency to drama — that is usually a political gesture of some sort. Meanwhile be conscious of these things in yourself. There is an undercurrent of tension in the air, and you may have a tendency to act from a sense of injury. The antidote is to stay alert and notice when you feel like you’re being treated unfairly. Right then, wake up.

Cancer (June 21- July 22)

Cancer (June 21-July 22) — Take care of business and never mind the slings and arrows. They are merely conceptual, the approximate equivalent of mental static, though they may be convincing at times. Never mind the porno spam. You know the emails you write and get from your friends are much more interesting. Yet even better is the prospect of actual intimate contact with others, and that looks like a real possibility if you choose to stay in the company of people who have the word ‘yes’ in their vocabulary. I’m aware that ‘yes’ is considered to be everything from dangerous to immoral to un-politically correct. What that whole point of view ignores is that without yes, nobody and nothing go anywhere. You definitely have some people and places on your agenda. Remember who, remember where, and be available.

Leo (July 22- Aug. 23)

Leo (July 22-Aug. 23) — Don’t worry about what you’ve decided is impossible. Stick to what you think is possible, even if that’s just a matter of opinion. It’s a particularly meaningful opinion because in many ways it’s the determining factor in the matter. People have done absolutely ridiculous things, under the belief that they could pull it off, even if they would not have tried if they knew what was involved. Also, remember that you can shift something from the ‘impossible’ to the ‘not impossible’ or ‘I’m doing it no matter what’ column at will. It would however help to have that opinion come from the inside rather than trying to convince yourself of anything. There’s plenty to do that you already know you can, you have a thing for stretching your capabilities, and there’s nothing you can do that can’t be done.

Virgo (Aug. 23- Sep. 22)

Virgo (Aug. 23-Sep. 22) — Hold everyone to the truth, starting with yourself. This isn’t as difficult as so many people make it out to be. You see people respond all the time as if reality itself were some kind of mortal enemy to be held at bay, or eliminated when possible. But honesty is not vaguely as uncomfortable as living with the tension and pressure of denial and ignorance. Get things moving by releasing some of your own pressure in this regard — for example, saying what’s been on your mind that you’ve been concerned would have some kind of negative response if you let it out. Consider this a gesture of healing, and of opening the way to even deeper repair of a problem you’ve wanted to solve. What would that be? It involves when you choose to compromise and why.

Libra (Sep. 22 - Oct. 23)

Libra (Sep. 22-Oct. 23) — You have been walking a delicate balance, which may feel something like being on the bomb squad. But the explosives you may feel you’re handling have lost their power for years. What they have is a kind of nostalgia, which is what you are dismantling. It’s more like needing space going through someone’s old collection of memorabilia, which is taking up your old basement, and coming across a deactivated souvenir grenade from World War II. It’s worth handling consciously, getting rid of and getting on with your work. But then your discovery gets you thinking about why someone, anyone, would save such a horrid thing. Who would want that? What is the story behind it? As you start to figure it out, you begin having surprisingly deep revelations about your own life and the direction you want to go.

Scorpio (Oct. 23- Nov. 22)

Scorpio (Oct. 23-Nov. 22) — Your sign is not known for its cool detachment, but it’s a resource you have available right now. This is not the removed distance of not caring; it’s an unusual kind of objectivity caused by being deeply concerned about an issue of justice and wanting the right thing to happen. You know that in order to do that you must remain fair-minded and see the situation in its entirety. You know that you must work with a balanced mind and present both yourself and your ideas that way. The more concerned you are, the more collected and relaxed you will want to be — so calm that it comes through your voice.

Sagittarius (Nov. 22 - Dec. 22)

Sagittarius (Nov. 22-Dec. 22) — Saturn in your sign is placing you in the role of arbiter of reality. You are having to do so in a time when it’s not widely accepted that there even is such a thing. But there has to be for you. There has to be a reference point or orientation — even if there is not a bottom line. So start with a point of orientation, a benchmark or watermark that you can use, at least, as a way of measuring change. Then, you persist in being the kind of person who knows when they’ve thought about something and when they have not. If there is one thing undermining basic agreements and understandings of what is real, that’s the one. Work out the logic a few different ways, and then translate it into words you can explain.

Capricorn (Dec. 22- Jan. 20)

Capricorn (Dec. 22-Jan. 20) — Take care of your home, and who and what you consider home. Keep the fire burning, which is to say, consciously and carefully tend the flame. If you have any questions about the way your life is going, consider that your devotion and attentiveness are the most potent force for your life. The image of the hearth is radiating from your charts; the symbolic one, and the one at the center of your domestic and spiritual life. It’s the source of heat and light, a space where you can prepare food to nourish your loved ones, and a space to gather. Do this consciously, from moment to moment and day to day, never assuming that it’s someone else’s job. You are the one with the understanding and the capability — that’s why it’s your role.

Aquarius (Jan. 20- Feb. 19)

Aquarius (Jan. 20-Feb. 19) — Consider the potential repercussions of anything you do. If you focus on your most loving intentions and let them motivate you, you’ll feel safer and be more secure. The thing you want to look after now is your own best interests. They serve you, and they also serve the people you care about, so there’s no conflict there. It’s difficult to consider what is right for everyone else but it’s pretty easy to distinguish what is right for you, what works, what feels ethical, and most of all what seems intelligent. Remember that when you take action, there’s always the likelihood of reaction. Think that through in advance. Be aware of how you direct energy, especially if it involves focused assertion or aggression. Be as gentle as you can.

Pisces (Feb. 19- March 20)

Pisces (Feb. 19-March 20) — Your worst fears are not true, as you will soon see. But you may as well notice what they are, how they feel and the general theme, which seems to be the results of your karma. Well, your karma is a lot better than you think. People who consciously concern themselves with right and wrong, with self-reflection, and with the possibility of denial are usually working on a pretty high level. You are aware of the possibility of denial and you’re also aware that you can do something about it. You are aware that your thoughts have influence and even power. So, you’re in good shape. At the moment, you can afford to take it all in, and see where you can add something positive and creative.

Weekly Horoscope for Thursday, Dec. 18, 2014, #1029 | By Eric Francis

Aries (March 20-April 19)

Aries (March 20-April 19) — The holidays are rapidly approaching, and most people are thinking about what fun they are going to have. I suggest you keep your focus on what you’re going to accomplish. Aspects for the next few weeks strongly favor productivity, career and achievement. You might feel some tension between these two aspects of life. I suggest you apply the concept of structure and boundaries to resolve that tension. Devote specific times to spend with friends and family, and then focus on the great strides you can make, and are indeed making, in this rare moment. Keep your focus and you can ride this energy quite a long way to some unusual success. One word of caution: alcohol will not help you right now. Keep your drinking moderate to not at all. If you are going to drink, please follow the suggestion of a politician I worked for: stay three drinks behind the crowd.

Taurus (April 19- May 20)

Taurus (April 19-May 20) — Keep a balance between your outer life and your inner life. This may be just a bit tricky, because there is so much happening in your internal world while the seemingly outer world is inviting you to take action in some bold way. The two are not at odds. Your relationship with the people and events around you is driven by your inner reality. To some extent this is true for everyone, but it’s especially true for you now. I suggest you focus inwardly and make sure you know your priorities. Make sure you’re at peace with yourself, which may mean finding harmony with feeling so driven and passionate. When you express that outwardly, cool it off just a little. Strive for cooperation. Set the example of working with others and distributing the workload. But be the keeper of your vision, and then relate that vision to others in a way they can clearly understand and help you develop.

Gemini (May 20- June 21)

Gemini (May 20-June 21) — Concern yourself with one thing only — clear agreements. Watch your tendency to be self-sacrificing, which is probably an outgrowth of feeling like you’re the less powerful person in business or joint financial situations. You may notice a tendency to respond to those in power in a rebellious way — I strongly suggest you keep a lid on that. If someone proposes something that makes no sense, ask them for clarification. If something you’re expected to do or to go along with explicitly contradicts your values, then state that in a respectful way. Remember that every person has their own customs, as does every culture. Some of them make absolutely no sense, but are harmless enough. Some are toxic. You must have the maturity to know the difference. And remember never to sign any agreement that you’re not absolutely certain you can fulfill. People sometimes put some crazy things into contracts. Read carefully. Be alert at all times.

Cancer (June 21- July 22)

Cancer (June 21-July 22) — Plenty is confronting you right now. Unless you find this much action to be totally thrilling, you might just want to crawl into the closet. The thing is, you’re in control. You are in command of your life. I know there’s a long list of gurus who would disagree with that statement. It is of course relative to your circumstances. Suffice it to say you have the power of decision in your hands. Everything coming at you, each thing, is an opportunity. You don’t need to accept all of them or any of them. The important thing is that you actively decide what you want, from among the options that you have. While you’re doing this, I suggest you maintain a high level of self-respect. You are worthy of any opportunity that comes your way. You have the experience and the natural talent to handle it. This is why you must choose carefully.

Leo (July 22- Aug. 23)

Leo (July 22-Aug. 23) — You may feel like you have to hold up the sky in a partnership or marriage. Your role is indeed integral to the situation, though leave the work of supporting heaven to the gods. You have plenty of ordinary human work to get done, though you would benefit by applying various techniques of coordination, cooperation and delegation. Yet you need to be the organizing principle, supplying the core intelligence that will get the job done. Think of the delegation of authority as something you give to someone, and then take back when the task is complete. As long as the task is delegated and not complete, you’re still on the hook. Hence follow-through is essential to that ‘core intelligence’ role. So too is structure, and the conscious use of time. Just don’t make the error of feeling like you’re in this alone. There is plenty of support around you; you just need to ask.

Virgo (Aug. 23- Sep. 22)

Virgo (Aug. 23-Sep. 22) — You seem to be in a titanic struggle with your own boundaries. It’s as if some force inside you is trying to break free of every inner constraint you’ve ever lived with, and some outer shell is trying to hold you together, fearing what might happen if you really let go. This is a head-trip. The thing you’re experiencing is a self-concept; an idea about who you are rather than the actual thing you truly are. These ideas can be powerful. We live in the age of self-identification; the whole “I identify as” trip is running at full throttle, and of course, there is an ocean of difference between self-concept and self. It may be an ocean that you’re trying to protect yourself from, because if you open up, you’re going to set sail on the vast sea of experience. This will indeed reveal that any narrow self-identity cannot withstand the uncontainable truth of who you are. If you’re tempted to cling, and notice that it hurts, then feel — and experience.

Libra (Sep. 22 - Oct. 23)

Libra (Sep. 22-Oct. 23) — Gee, it looks like you’re expecting company. Or like you’re headed to a family reunion. Or like the family reunion is headed to you. Ok, that doesn’t exactly qualify as spot-on clairvoyance with Kwanzaa, Christmas
and Hanukkah coming up, though it is a fair reading of your chart. That symbolic picture looks like a collection of every relative and ancestor you ever had is sitting at your kitchen table. Not the formal dining room — I mean stuffed into the kitchen, up against the stove, with bread in the oven. It looks like a collection of characters of wit or at least wisdom, including Uncle Ralph with his dirty jokes, cousin Martha who still after all these decades wears a mini skirt in December, and the presence of many people who have sat around that table in years past who are now memories. Even if that gathering does not come to you, then go to it — and bring someone who’s never been among your tribe before. They will notice many things invisible to you.

Scorpio (Oct. 23- Nov. 22)

Scorpio (Oct. 23-Nov. 22) — “Mrs. Dalloway said she would buy the flowers herself.” “It was love at first sight.” “I have never begun a novel with more misgiving.” “In my younger and more vulnerable years my father gave me some advice that I’ve been turning over in my mind ever since.” “You better not never tell nobody but God.” Every story begins with a single line, a statement of the truth as it is in that moment. No matter how complex the scenario, nor how many people are involved, nor how ordinary or strange, to tell the story, one must begin — and you surely have a story to tell. It seems to be bursting from your mind and aching to be expressed. There is so much that it may seem impossible. Yet I would encourage you to begin. You might find this better done with an older kind of writing — a pen or pencil on the page rather than an electronic device. This will foster a sense of seclusion rather than the idea that everything is public the moment you write it.

Sagittarius (Nov. 22 - Dec. 22)

Sagittarius (Nov. 22-Dec. 22) — The Sun is about to leave your sign and Saturn is about to arrive. This is like your Bar Mitzvah, only it’s the real thing. You are being reminded that you are an actual woman or man, someone who is capable of taking your destiny into your hands. That capability, that capacity or potential, is now ready to express itself through you. Be prepared to take life more seriously, which will require you to keep your sense of humor on at all times. Prepare to leave the swirling chaos of past years behind you. Get ready to draw some lines, and to work within those lines, which will help you concentrate your energy. Don’t be fooled by the idea that boundaries and timeframes are in some way limiting. For you in particular, they are the assurance of surpassing your limitations. You are someone for whom anything is possible — that is a core self-concept you possess. Now you’re about to demonstrate that it’s true.

Capricorn (Dec. 22- Jan. 20)

Capricorn (Dec. 22-Jan. 20) — All of this and many other things shall be revealed. Like, in the next three days or so. I would say you’re approaching the single most interesting moment of self-discovery of your life, but you’ve had a few of those lately. Still, one builds on the next. And it helps if you’ve cleared some debris out of the way, which you have done. One of the most intriguing things about your current chart is the blend of chaste purity and unfettered lust. You may be thinking you’re having some kind of identity crisis. Like, how can both of these things be true? It’s not that they can be true; rather, it’s essential that they be true at the same time. They are opposites that support and affirm one another’s existence. They are options that you can choose from at any time, and live in for extended periods of time. The White path and the Red path are simultaneous realities and they both lead to the same place — to yourself.

Aquarius (Jan. 20- Feb. 19)

Aquarius (Jan. 20-Feb. 19) — Don’t let the pressure get to you. Rather, have fun with it. I know that’s easier said than done, sometimes. I know you may not like to admit that you can thrive under pressure — and you do appreciate some serenity. Now, however, is the time to flourish as the psychic barometer rises. Using some tools will help. One of them will be structuring your time. Another will be setting priorities. Another will be getting enough sleep every night. This may be the most important resource you have, because you’re going to be processing a lot of events and developments in your sleep, some of which will come through boldly. Others will come through as impressions. Then I suggest you set specific, attainable goals. Leave extra time, like a 20% fudge factor, so that you apply time structure in a way that supports you rather than in a way that overwhelms you. A deadline is not the due date — it’s a container for how much time you have to get something done, plus or minus 20%.

Pisces (Feb. 19- March 20)

Pisces (Feb. 19-March 20) — The theme of your charts continues to shift to the achievement and recognition areas, in a big way. In a few days, Saturn makes contact with the professional angle of your chart, your 10th house. While there is no automatic success, this at least is saying that your efforts will add up to some solid accomplishments, beginning now and over the next three years. At the same time, planets are rapidly gathering in Capricorn and on Sunday there will be a rather amazing New Moon right on the solstice. This describes your role in your community, and the important role of collaborators. What is interesting about the supposedly spacey and pleasure-seeking sign Pisces is the way that your solar chart describes your investment in organizations, culture and society. Indeed, the placement of Capricorn suggests that you’re a practical visionary, and this factor is coming through like thunder right now. Yes, there is work to do — though every day you will know that work is making a difference and adding up to something much larger than is obvious.

Planet Waves Weekly Horoscope, Dec. 11 – 18

Note, this is the next-to-last horoscope of the year. The last one will be next week. I will go on break after that, to finish Cosmophilia, the 2015 annual edition, without other distractions. I’ll return with the extended monthly on Thursday, Jan. 1, and editions after that will consist of horoscope only until Cosmophilia is done — planned for sometime the second week of January, if all goes brilliantly.

Aries (March 20-April 19)

Aries (March 20-April 19) — It is up to you to insist on justice, where justice must be done. This is true, even if you seem to be the only person who cares. It is therefore your right, privilege and responsibility to be fair, and to set the example of fairness. This is especially true in our times of shifting foundations and the decay of social values. Where there are no morals, that is when ethics must take over. These concepts are similar, though in my use of the words, morals are externally imposed, and ethics emerge from within oneself, as a voluntary choice. The thing is, you’re in an instant karma moment. The world will meet you exactly where you meet the world. Your fairness will be rewarded by that reflection in the universe. But what is more apparent is that your willingness to listen to others about what they value will create an environment where you feel safe being yourself. These small gestures add up to far-reaching changes.

Taurus (April 19- May 20)

Taurus (April 19-May 20) — What is sex? It’s a gift; it’s a gesture of faith in humanity. It’s a revolutionary act. But is it fun? Well, that works better when you understand your motives. The fun quotient is also dependent on how you experience guilt, shame and piety. When sex is real, it puts everyone onto level ground. In order to get there, it’s necessary to go to the level of mortals. Modern humans are often obsessed with being spiritual, which loosely translates to ‘better than’. Sex is typically not seen as spiritual because for many it translates to ‘lower than’. I would say it really means ‘equal to’. Remember that you, like everyone, are made of the Earth. You are part of the Earth, which means equal to everything and everyone else that is here. The more you tap into this, even as an experiment, the more generous you will feel, and the stronger in your faith you will be.

Gemini (May 20- June 21)

Gemini (May 20-June 21) — There are times when existence has the quality of a reflection, or rather, when it’s more noticeable. You might not recognize this moment as such. What you perceive is likely to be more than you think you are. It may also lack the simplicity and clarity that you aspire to; you may be looking at some rather unusual and complex circumstances. Rather than a mirror, I suggest you consider everything you perceive or experience to be relational. By that I mean, it’s available for you to enter into a relationship with. I mean anything, anyone, any situation, no matter how blazingly glorious, ordinary or weird it may seem. Treat everyone and everything around you as simply human. Present yourself as simply human. Make eye contact, say hello and extend your hand. Smile warmly and laugh at anything funny. (Footnote: check ‘star-struck’ at the door. Admiration is OK, but just a little, as it will get in the way. Stick to respect.)

Cancer (June 21- July 22)

Cancer (June 21-July 22) — Home-cooked meals; that’s what you need. It doesn’t matter who does the cooking. It might be better if it were someone else, in someone else’s home, but really any home or anyone cooking will do. You are more the type to invite others over and make the effort. It would be awesome therapy for you to subject yourself to such treatment by someone else. Now, I recognize you might not be able to invite yourself…or can you? Is there anyone you can call up and say, “Would you please make me dinner?” (Breakfast or lunch will work, as will a midnight snack. The Universe is flexible.) Really think about it. There is surely someone. However, if there is not, then plan a meal, go to the store, and prepare some actual food in your actual kitchen. For yourself, and for others if you wish. I suggest you make a habit out of it for the next few weeks.

Leo (July 22- Aug. 23)

Leo (July 22-Aug. 23) — Once you contact the creative force within you, you won’t be able to stop it. You might be inclined to take other approaches to the current task at hand — such as labor, toil, effort, time applied to the situation and old-fashioned thoroughness, which all have their moments. Currently though, the force to be reckoned with is the power of an idea, indeed of many ideas. Take up the motto that there is a creative solution to everything. To use this method takes awareness, and a constant dialog with yourself about what you are doing, and why, and the nature of your reality. It requires seeing everything as a new possibility, all the time. That takes more discipline than doing anything the same way every time. Soon enough you will need to develop and apply the ideas that you’re having, and as the planets move over the next few weeks that will develop naturally. Just keep that inner dialog going.

Virgo (Aug. 23- Sep. 22)

Virgo (Aug. 23-Sep. 22) — If you’re on a sexual purity campaign, don’t be surprised if it backfires. You seem to be trying to contain an abundance of emotional energy and afraid you might lose control. The way to keep some influence over the situation is to be real with yourself, and vent some steam. You could probably do a lot more than that and feel even better. From one point of view, your solar chart reads as if you’re concerned some authority figure is looming over you and going to question why you’re feeling so much all the time, or why you want to do whatever it is that you want to do. You don’t have to explain that any more than a bird has to explain why it flies. And if you do feel as if you must rationalize your existence, otherwise be confronted by authority, this would be the perfect time to ask yourself why, or rather whether, that is even true.

Libra (Sep. 22 - Oct. 23)

Libra (Sep. 22-Oct. 23) — You have a story to tell. But you seem to be hesitating. You seem to think it’s too much, maybe more than anyone wants to hear, or more than you want to say. That, and you appear to be waiting for a moment where you can approach the work thoughtfully and carefully, with some discipline. I suggest you move forward now. You can have all the discipline in the world, and if you’ve lost contact with the seed of your idea, with the drive and the living impulse inside you, the perfect moment won’t mean much. So scratch your pen or pencil on the paper, even if it’s in broken or scattered thoughts that you cannot seem to capture fully. Work your way up to a few sentences. Soon enough you will have the focus to develop what now exists in a state of potential. At that time, any first draft at all is better than a blank page.

Scorpio (Oct. 23- Nov. 22)

Scorpio (Oct. 23-Nov. 22) — Keep your money to yourself, at least for a few days. Be careful making any commitments that are indefinite or that you don’t understand. Any ‘good time’ you have needs a fixed budget, such as how much you spend on alcohol, how much you spend to impress someone or how much you put on credit. Your charts seem to be offering some caution around expenditures associated with your infamous holiday generosity. The other side of this astrology is that you may be sitting on some unusual potential for earning revenue, which I suggest you consider with authentic interest and care. This plan must not require an outlay of cash, and if it does, I suggest you pause until the Sun enters Capricorn on the 21st before making any commitments. It could be good, though you really need to think it through methodically and perhaps with expert advice.

Together, We Can End Saturn-o-Phobia

Listen to a Free Preview of Your 2015 Sagittarius Reading!
Dear Friend and Sagittarius:

Your birthday is the time of year to look into your astrology for the next 12 months. And that means facing Saturn-o-phobia: the irrational fear of Saturn.

With Saturn about to enter Sagittarius, I’m here to encourage you to stand with me and end this needless astrological annoyance — right now. Mentions of Saturn will dominate the news for your sign for the next two years, with astrologers making all kinds of predictions.

Planet Waves
Not so scary after all — Saturn in natural color, photographed by the Cassini Space Probe in 2004.

Unfriendly interpretations of Saturn have plagued fans of astrology since the 2nd century, when an ancient portrayed Saturn as a bad guy.

The ancient Greeks were smart, but they didn’t know everything. Aristotle, for example, said that there are only five senses. He left out several, including the sense of humor.

Anyone who has read an astrology book, article or even horoscope column has worried about Saturn, allegedly the matronly voice of authority saying the party ends at 10 pm.

Look up Saturn and you may think you’re about to be called to the principal’s office. I take a different view. I think of Saturn as being about practicality. To me, Saturn is about taking charge of your life; about structuring your time, and making the most of your resources.

When Saturn is active in your chart, you can make progress on things that have long been delayed. If you internalize the Saturn principle, you do something essential to maturity: you become your own authority. In Sagittarius, Saturn will help you craft the potential associated with your sign into something real; something you can hold onto.

Sagittarius (Nov. 22 - Dec. 22)

Sagittarius (Nov. 22-Dec. 22) — You are irresistible even to people who think they don’t like you, but now you’re working with some unusual charisma and influence. I don’t want to hype up what I see in your chart, though it has the quality of bending reality to your will — and that calls for caution. Pause for as few as five seconds and you will be able to see any situation from any point of view. That alone will be enough to convince someone that what you have is what they want. For that reason you must proceed thoughtfully with everyone you think you might influence. Think long-range and consider the long-term consequences. The idea here is not to have less fun, rather to have more fun with less inconvenience at some other time. However, that’s if you’re thinking small. If you want to influence something, focus on a goal of profound importance to you. If you’re craving contact, start with the one person who would mean the very most.

Capricorn (Dec. 22- Jan. 20)

Capricorn (Dec. 22-Jan. 20) — Your inner life and your outer life could hardly be more different. On the outside you’re the very image of impeccability. On the inside you want to explode with excitement, lust or cosmic energy. You may have those days where if someone brushes against you, you’ll let out a moan and burst. Said simply, an inner portal is open. Life force is pulsing through you, and that portal where all inspiration comes in is wide open. People work for years to make this happen, though it cannot be conjured — it can only be allowed, encouraged and appreciated. You might try to force that door closed, though that’s not really a good idea. It would be a waste of beautiful energy, and you could hurt yourself. I suggest you stop worrying what people might think if they knew what was really in your mind. Anyone perceptive enough to guess would be thrilled about it.

Aquarius (Jan. 20- Feb. 19)

Aquarius (Jan. 20-Feb. 19) — You appear to be on one of your independent streaks. And hey, it seems to be working. You need your freedom, and you alone understand how inherently this is woven into the fabric of your being. I suggest, though, that you check in with any significant others (one in particular, from the way the chart looks), and keep closer contact than you might ordinarily. This is not to cramp your style. There is someone in your life who wants nothing more than to be heard, but who may have difficulty expressing their emotional needs. I suggest you take just a little of that burden on. Take the initiative and ask how they’re feeling. Give them permission to open up. Your reward will be added freedom, enough to explore what you want, and enough to be trusted by someone you really care about. At the very least, you have nothing to lose by listening.

Pisces (Feb. 19- March 20)

Pisces (Feb. 19-March 20) — Focus everything into your real work — the most important and most meaningful task at hand — the one that counts now, and in the long run. Yes, eat food and get regular rest, and then focus on your highest goals with everything you’ve got. You are in an extraordinarily rare moment where what seemed impossible is right within reach. You might say this is the time to crack the glass ceiling. To do this well, you must apply discipline and a basic plan of action. Clean up any loose ends that might bind you to the past, including emotional ones that may have a bearing on your work. Eliminate any disadvantages that you can possibly avoid. You’re about to make contact with the power of focus in a way that you may never have before. You’ll soon discover that, even if your methods have been a bit haphazard, you’ve accomplished many things that do in fact add up to a lot. Gathering them together will be easier than you think.

Planet Waves Weekly Horoscope, Dec. 4 – 11

Aries (March 20-April 19)

Aries (March 20-April 19) — Keep what you say meaningful, mindful and minimal. Your words have impact beyond what you know. I know the ‘meaningful’ part is challenging, since you can’t usually decide for yourself what is meaningful to others, anyway. You can, however, focus on what is meaningful to you, and describe it in as few words as possible. The tendency of your astrology at the moment is many words, not a few words, however. And the tendency as well is to water them down. If you want to go overboard, do it in writing. And you will stay closer to meaning if you stick to what you’re the least comfortable saying, what is the most private; or pushing the edge of your comfort zone, you will verge directly into meaning. You can say these things to yourself, and you can experiment saying them to others. The meeting point of the two is putting them into writing — and sharing the writing, while the inspiration and sense of daring is still with you.

Taurus (April 19- May 20)

Taurus (April 19-May 20) — Sex is cosmic. Why is that so controversial? Could it be that someone made it so? If you look around, most of the controversies of the world are fabricated, and most things that should be getting the buzz going are kept on the down-low. Seen one way, the cosmic nature of sex, phrased as a question, begs the true nature of existence. We all got here from sex. But that’s the ordinary part. The interesting part is the access to consciousness granted by sex; that is, by sexual desire, experience, curiosity and what can happen in sexual relationships. What can happen is discovery. What can happen is alchemy, between two or more people, and within oneself. Here is a clue: Alchemy is a relic of the ancient world. It’s not regarded as real today, even though so much of it happens. To see alchemy for what it is, look at the world through ancient eyes. Look at the world as if you were dropped into its midst from some other simpler, quieter civilization.

Gemini (May 20- June 21)

Gemini (May 20-June 21) — You could be the walking controversy this weekend, for no good reason. You could cause a fuss by saying ‘have a nice day’. The key will be not taking this personally. Along the same vein, you could be triggered by something said by another. Remember, this is all an illusion. It may feel very real to some people, especially the ones who thrive on controversy or use it to stoke their identity. As a Gemini you have a gift for keeping it light. You can get serious, though you can dial in a kind of levity and the appearance of being superficial. You may need this skill over the next few days, and I suggest you use it without hesitating. It’s highly unlikely that anything polarizing will have actual meaning, though it could have real impact — not the best combination. Keep a smile on your face, and when people get feisty, pretend not to understand. Then listen carefully — there may be some profound wisdom underneath all the bluster and chaos.

Cancer (June 21- July 22)

Cancer (June 21-July 22) — How are you doing at learning to take things less personally? Or rather, maybe the process is meeting every experience of your life on such an intimate, inner level that it becomes so personal that you embrace existence fully. By this I mean it’s possible for you to understand everything as something that happens within you. The perfect analogy: In a dream, a whole world arises, complete with people, scenery, theme and logic. In our culture, we understand that a dream is something that happens within us. (There are other approaches — for another day.) Now think of ‘the world’ as something that happens within your senses, within your mind, within your consciousness. This is, at least, biologically true: your whole experience of life happens within your brain and nervous system. Imagine the influence that gives you. Consider how vital your own attention is to your experience of life. Count as real the ability you have to choose for yourself what is true and what is not.

Leo (July 22- Aug. 23)

Leo (July 22-Aug. 23) — Pride is the last feeling that you want to stoke right now. There are others that will work much better — like cooperation. I was going to say “group integration” but that’s a term better used in the Aquarius horoscope. This astrology is coming from Aquarius by the way — in the form of Mars entering your opposite sign. As for pride, I know the temptation may be there, though it will come off to others as confrontational, and that’s unlikely to be what you want to do. At the same time, you may be noticing that others are asserting themselves to you, that is, asserting their will and their ideas. The key is to meet them without resistance. Imagine the encounter as more like dancing and less like wrestling. When dancing you have to apply some strength and firmness and yet be flexible and flow. Then imagine a group of people doing this dance, without choreography — just music. Listen for the music.

Virgo (Aug. 23- Sep. 22)

Virgo (Aug. 23-Sep. 22) — Listen to what your body is saying. Your body will reveal secrets about your past, if you will only listen. I suggest you ease back on sugar, caffeine and anything else that might alter your consciousness, at least over the next few days. This is for the express purpose of tuning into the messages that are profoundly important but also can be easily obscured. The thing you might have to offer in the equation is the willingness to experience some discomfort. You might also need to sort out the content of what is happening in a current relationship until you understand the subtext. And you will need to see beneath any feelings that you may have about your family, particularly your father’s side of the family. All of this will be worth it. It will be a small inconvenience to bear, on the way to making what could be the first of many discoveries that set you solidly on the healing path.

Libra (Sep. 22 - Oct. 23)

Libra (Sep. 22-Oct. 23) — It’s time to bring the passion back into sex. Passion does not necessarily mean love affair, and it does not mean soul mate. It has nothing to do with ‘spiritual’ unless you’re someone who associates spiritual with biology. This is less about being horny and more about being curious and creative. Imagine if we unhooked from sex all those other values, and just left curious and creative. We would have something fun to play with. You in particular need sex to be interesting, whatever kind of sex it may be. Interesting translates to something different, and a spirit of experimentation. I know this passage of writing will never get into The Missionary’s Guide to Perfect Fidelity, and that’s a good thing too. You’re not a missionary and perfect fidelity is not your goal. In fact it may be the last thing on your mind right now. Remember, curiosity, creativity, experimentation.

Scorpio (Oct. 23- Nov. 22)

Scorpio (Oct. 23-Nov. 22) — Aah yes family, the original group. The tribe. The thing to which we think we belong, and yet somehow, so often, do not belong. The group by which all other groups are measured. You may encounter the temptation to define yourself by the ways in which you’ve got nothing in common with those people. You may be feeling some anger, directed at the past, perhaps for the way things are today. You may get the urge to “burn down their house” (metaphorically, of course). Anger is useful. It’s a reminder that you may actually have a beef with someone, though it’s not always clear who, or why. I suggest you sort that out. Start by assuming that anger is a clue; merely a clue. Then once you have that clue, follow it in and see if you can figure out the dynamic. Don’t be attached to any one discovery. Hang loose and be flexible as you move from idea to idea. You will learn a lot the next few weeks as you do this.

Sagittarius (Nov. 22 - Dec. 22)

Sagittarius (Nov. 22-Dec. 22) — You really do know — even if you think you don’t, and especially if you’re not supposed to. To make an observation, you don’t need to have read the book or collected the certification. There are some things you just know. You might call it intuition, but from the look of your solar chart it’s a heck of a lot deeper; more like the direct memory of something you learned a long time ago. This could be a fleeting experience for you, though I suggest you focus on any interesting revelations long enough to get the actual content and impact of the message. You could find yourself remembering all kinds of things that are absolutely beyond your experience, training and knowledge level. I suggest that you not declare yourself any kind of expert or lay claim to this information any more than to enter into a relationship with it. This is something that can develop over time, if you make the investment of focus and reflection.

Capricorn (Dec. 22- Jan. 20)

Capricorn (Dec. 22-Jan. 20) — Mars leaves your sign on Thursday, ending an interesting micro-era of your life. This began Oct. 26, and it probably started with a bang or two. Looking back, what do you see from a distance, and with the perspective of time? I would encourage your curiosity about the events of the second week of November. What did you learn? It has a bearing on the next few weeks, with the main point of contact being what happens when you judge yourself for things that are outside your control, or judge yourself at all. One of the ways that you, personally, handle the global self-esteem crisis is to detach yourself from the issue. It’s actually a pretty good strategy, since so much of “lack of self-esteem” is a kind of red herring. Often, it involves a con-job by someone else — in the distant past or five minutes ago. But sometimes you cannot distance yourself; sometimes you have to grab the question, look it in the face and say: AND?

Aquarius (Jan. 20- Feb. 19)

Aquarius (Jan. 20-Feb. 19) — Mars enters your sign on Thursday. Mars sign changes are always meaningful, and always noticeable, though this one bears a personal message to you. The theme is how you use your energy. That’s significant now because you will have access to plenty more — drive, motivation, persuasiveness and personal power. This may be off-putting to some people. You don’t need to make your case strongly, or for that matter at all. You will definitely need to apply diplomacy to any situation in which you find yourself. If you don’t add that as a conscious factor, you are likely to decide that you just don’t care and dust it up with someone needlessly. So I suggest you apply your best Aquarian cool, and distribute that Martian energy evenly through your circuits. Let Mars make you more of what you are: humane, idealistic, and — underneath a mind often boggled with a whole bunch of ideas — passionate and sensitive.

Pisces (Feb. 19- March 20)

Pisces (Feb. 19-March 20) — Keep your plans big, and keep them to yourself. What you’re doing now — everything from the changes you’re initiating to the edge you’re walking along — has the power to grow into something far beyond what you currently have, or think is possible. You don’t need to trace that trajectory, or even plot out the scenarios. To do so would likely be to limit yourself. Rather, focus on the kernel of what you’re doing, as close to the seed of the idea as you can. Retreat inward rather than extend yourself outward, particularly on this one thing that you’ve got a grasp on, or that has a hold on your interest. Yes, the Sun in Sagittarius moving across your solar 10th house is about expanding and being visible, which you can do in other ways — in ways that are already tried and true. As for this new thing you’re discovering, keep that between yourself and your notebook.
