Moonshine Horoscope

Sun is conjunct the Galactic Core

Dear Friend and Reader:

Before we get to Genevieve’s horoscope, first a note. Today the Sun is conjunct the Galactic Core. This happens once a year, in our era, always around this day. We live in a galaxy; we share the space with many other stars. That galaxy is held together by a supermassive black hole, and around that object is a cluster of stars and radio sources that, together, make up the Galactic Core.

Planet Waves

If you’re somewhere you can see the Sun, imagine it’s there, and imagine the galactic arms spreading out, intersecting with the Earth’s horizon on an approximately 45-degree angle.

Today, in this last week of the Mayan calendar, much of the United States is engulfed in grief over a school shooting that took place just five days ago.

This is not just grief over the loss of many young students and the teachers who tried to protect them. It’s profound sadness over the state of our society. I think that we now recognize how many factors contributed to this event, and how prolific those factors are. I think we are finally seeing this event — one of 16 mass shootings in the United States so far this year — in context.

The backdrop of the Galactic Core is perfect for two reasons. One is that it’s about issues that are so pervasive that it never seems we’ll understand them, or be able to address them. Think of the line from the old spiritual, “So wide, you can’t get around it.”

Second is that the Galactic Core serves as our spiritual homing signal. It is the distant call to awareness of something beyond the reality we perceive, and all that we believe. This distant call can be difficult to hear for some, and easy to ‘space out’ on — or outright deny — for many, even spiritually advanced people.

I want to remind you that it’s there, and it’s coming in strong today.

Your December Moonshine horoscopes by Genevieve Hathaway are ready today and available now. It’s accessible without using your password.

Friday’s edition will be the last (Friday) issue of the year, while I complete your readings in LISTEN, the 2013 annual edition of Planet Waves. This week, I plan to wrap up the audio portions, take a short break and move onto the written sections. These readings, which include both audio and written segments, are still available to subscribers at the discount of 12 signs for the price of three. They include extended audio and extended written readings.

Here’s a summary of what we’ve been up to on other parts of the website. This week on Daily Astrology & Adventure (the proper name of our daily blog), I covered the Sandy Hook Elementary School shootings in a special post that includes links to the charts for both the incident and the shooter.

Amanda has covered the current sky leading up to the solstice in the Daily Astrology postings for Monday (featuring the Sun’s conjunction to the Galactic Core) and today. Sarah Taylor has offered a gentle view of our current moment in her Weekend Tarot Reading. If you’re in the mood for some satire, be sure to read our commentary on End of the World, which is rumored to be scheduled for Friday. (Thanks to the many friends who contributed material to this parody.)

We’ll have more about the solstice in tonight’s Planet Waves FM (which is usually posted Tuesday evening EST, but which I may do Wednesday). With or without the Mayans, I believe the meaning of 2012 is still up for grabs.

Thanks for tuning in, and we will catch you Friday.

Lovingly,

A Whole Lotta Scorpio

Dear Friend and Reader:

The Sun will be in Scorpio for a couple of more days, though this is no ordinary journey of the Sun through this sign. Last week we experienced the first eclipse of the Sun in Scorpio since 1995. At the same time, Mercury is retrograde in Scorpio. Over the weekend we experienced an event that blended the two — Mercury and the Sun formed a conjunction on the North Node of the Moon.

While this has been happening, Saturn is in Scorpio for the first time in decades. So we have an abundance of this energy in the air, and it happens to be one of the most challenging signs for dimensions of the psyche to encounter.

It’s the place where our society sweeps all of its taboos — all the things you cannot talk about at dinner: sex, death, financial matters, jealousy, secrets, control and surrender. Yet as much as there is taboo to Scorpio, there is an irresistible attraction. It’s a draw into the unknown, the forbidden, and the realms of pleasure that we may crave but will rarely admit to any other person. There are indications that this whole field of thought, feeling and experience is opening up, for both introspection and sharing.

One challenge that often comes up with strong Scorpio energy involves boundaries. We’re taught to curtail the whole discussion of anything related to this sign — so to open up the aperture at all can feel like pushing the edge.

If you’re aware that you might be doing so, that’s a good sign. I suggest you err on the side of going a little too far rather than holding back. The nature of what I’ll call the Scorpio problem specifically involves keeping secret the things that we need to talk about more openly.

Mercury retrograde is on a journey of discovery. It’s time to have the conversation with ourselves that we’ve been avoiding, potentially for a very long time. When you look at the list of topics covered by Scorpio, consider the way we’re taught to deal with most of them — denial or feeling powerless, or alternately with greed and the concentration of power. Mercury retrograde in this sign is an inquiry, and it’s one that many have been craving.

The rulers of Scorpio are also on the move. Mars is the traditional ruler, and it ingressed Capricorn Friday evening. This puts the planet of drive, aggression and the outward expression of desire into the sign of its exaltation. It’s an effective place for its energy in general, but the move also puts Mars in position to rev up the Uranus-Pluto square — the 2012 aspect.

Planet Waves

Mars will make a 90-degree angle to Uranus (on Friday) before making a conjunction to Pluto several days later. Pluto is considered by most astrologers to be the modern ruler of Scorpio, so we will experience the two rulers of this sign in a conjunction.

Mars getting into the Uranus-Pluto square is sure to stir things up, as if they need it. Look at what’s going on between Israel and Hamas for one expression of the energy. There are more constructive ways to express this, though they all involve being honest with yourself about what is going on for you emotionally, which includes sexually.

It’s all happening just as Venus moves into Scorpio as well, where it will head for a conjunction to Saturn. Here we get an opportunity to unravel and perhaps understand the power aspect of sex — the one that makes sex the least like itself.

As we ride through all of this, I suggest you keep a close watch on your emotions, your sexual impulses and your relationship to any idea that threatens you. This is no ordinary astrology; we haven’t seen Scorpio energy like this any time in the past 20 years. And for most of those 20 years we’ve swept everything that Scorpio represents under the rug.

So for many, this will seem like too much all at once. If you’ve gone out of your way to bury the things that Scorpio represents, which in the emotional realm are some of the most visceral, poignant feelings we experience, this may be painful. The thing to remember is that denial and blame will not work. This is the moment when you have to take responsibility for your feelings, your desires and your choices. Now is your chance to be honest with yourself.

If you’ve been consciously working with Scorpio energy, you may find yourself on an adventure in these days and weeks. It’s just essential that you apply maximum consciousness as you do. Keep the level of communication high; make sure you listen to see if you have a real understanding with the people with whom you’re in intimate situations; and take every opportunity to reality check.

Lovingly,

Moonshine Horoscopes for November 2012 | By Genevieve Hathaway

Note to Readers from Eric: These horoscopes, written by our global correspondent Genevieve Hathaway (who is now in Australia), are based on your Moon sign. To look that up, enter your birth data into Serennu.com. It helps to have your birth time but it’s not necessary in most cases. I suggest you also read your Sun and rising signs.

Aries (March 20-April 19)

Aries (March 20-April 19) — A creative idea has been gently pushing to the forefront of your mind lately. This thought is unique in the world and may feel a bit daring, if not dangerous. Sensations of this nature stem from it being untried and untested. I suggest you not mistake those factors for a sign of potential failure, but rather, an indication that what has been developing inside of you is needed in the world. This idea relates to the larger world on a global scale, yet is also deeply personal to you. Take the time over the next few weeks to thoroughly plan the execution of your idea. More information will be made available and will impact how you introduce your concept into the larger world. Focus on your inner compass, which tells you this concept has a place — rather than on perceived questions about approval, which is nothing more than a popularity contest. — by Genevieve Hathaway

Taurus (April 19- May 20)

Taurus (April 19-May 20) — Currently, any ‘issues’ that seem to arise in relationships have more to do with material you’re working through internally than an actual relationship dynamic. You are in a place to heal a number of deeply rooted wounds surrounding trust and intimacy which were previously hard to reach. As you work through this material I suggest you not project your internal state and struggles on a partnership; instead, involve the person in an open dialogue about what you are working through. Holding the space open for yourself to heal and another person to walk this journey with you will also strengthen an existing partnership. The feeling of connection you’ve looked for in a relationship will deepen through standing in your vulnerability and sharing that with a close partner. — by Genevieve Hathaway

Gemini (May 20- June 21)

Gemini (May 20-June 21) — Your Moon sign, drawn as the double bars or twins, is inherently dualistic. For you, existence is experienced through two distinct emotional bodies, easily sliding from one to the other or sometimes spanning both. This condition in your Moon can feel like a nuisance, but it gives you much in the way of emotional energy to draw on — you have two internal ‘selves’ to care for but also two internal ‘selves’ to draw on for energy. The recent eclipse is bringing an even larger charge of energetic resources than you normally operate with, as though someone swapped your usual nickel batteries for some portable solar panels. Use this new boost of energy to lay the groundwork for a number of projects you’ve been considering starting. Look where you wish to go with intention, and then power that vision with hard work and plenty of creative fire. — by Genevieve Hathaway

Cancer (June 21- July 22)

Cancer (June 21-July 22) — Sex is supposed to be fun. Let me say that again — sex is supposed to be fun. Unfortunately, too often the fun part gets sidelined by guilt, shame, fear or worrying about whether you’re playing ‘the game’ right. If any of these issues arise over the next month I suggest you not get distracted or drawn into them. Focus on sex being about a loving exchange with another person and with yourself. Leave any projections of how partners think or feel out of the equation and instead approach sex from a place of curiosity, openness and authentic desire to share with another. Maintain a constant commitment to honesty and hold space for others to do the same — this will help all parties move shadow material aside. Actions and attitudes taken over the next few weeks will be setting patterns both in you and in partners for years to come — establishing sex as a fun, loving and self-esteem-building experience. — by Genevieve Hathaway

Leo (July 22- Aug. 23)

Leo (July 22-Aug. 23) — I suggest you see your current role in a project as the collector of information. Those around you are pushing to take a leap even with all the information not yet known. Operating from the place of having all the facts is always important for a project’s success, and currently you are in a position where information will be coming to you. As the next few weeks progress collect the bits of data that come your way. This is less about seeking out answers and more about applying patience. Like putting a puzzle together, initially you can’t see what the image is because you only have a few pieces, but as each piece gets laid down soon the entire picture becomes clear. Once you can see the whole landscape you’ll be in an excellent position to lead the endeavor forward, taking in all calculated risks. — by Genevieve Hathaway

Virgo (Aug. 23- Sep. 22)

Virgo (Aug. 23-Sep. 22) — As children we grow up in a location usually beyond our choosing, and for many people, remain there throughout adulthood. Place is not only about the trees, grass, shrubs and lakes around one’s home; it’s also about the community around us, the energy in the landscape and the values our neighbors hold. I suggest you think of your locality as a place where you consciously choose to live. Approaching where you call home from this perspective raises a question — what criteria do you use to determine where you live? Over the next few weeks as situations arise which address this question, keep a mental list of what you value most in your local environment, both city and neighborhood community. An opportunity will arise to make a few subtle changes to your surroundings, which will go a long way in helping to make the area you live in resonate within you on a deeper level. It will boil down to connections with people. — by Genevieve Hathaway

Libra (Sep. 22 - Oct. 23)

Libra (Sep. 22-Oct. 23) —
We tend to think of our thought processes as part of our conscious self; something we have control over. Yet, how often does a thought enter your mind and then you mentally correct yourself? How often do you seem to have an internal dialogue or debate with your own thoughts? Lately many of your mental processes are coming up for review — these are the thoughts you seem to have before you have a chance to think them. These thought patterns contain many of the themes you inherited from your parents. What you have at the moment is perspective, or put another way, it’s like you’re up on a hill and you can see all of the landscape from horizon to horizon. You can see your thought patterns laid out: not only their structure, but also where in your family (going back generations) they came from. Take time to examine mental patterns and restructure those that are not actively supporting your authenticity. — by Genevieve Hathaway

Scorpio (Oct. 23- Nov. 22)

Scorpio (Oct. 23-Nov. 22) — A door has opened within you, allowing you to move through the layers of other people’s themes and issues to get to your core epicenter. This avenue into yourself is less a windy, spiraling staircase downward and more like an old-fashioned elevator — the kind of contraption with a grate that you slide shut, allowing you to see the levels passing by as the metal box moves lower and lower. Observe what you move through as you explore deeper into yourself over the coming weeks. Don’t stop to visit each level; keep the metaphorical elevator moving, knowing it will stop where you need to be. Your astrology is calling you, on many levels, to be authentically you and no one else. This journey into yourself is taking you there. Anything short of a complete commitment to this mission will be difficult to maintain. — by Genevieve Hathaway

Sagittarius (Nov. 22 - Dec. 22)

Sagittarius (Nov. 22-Dec. 22) — Enjoying healthy sexual fantasies is part of being an emotionally balanced person. They allow us to explore many of our authentic and creative sexual needs that may be logistically challenging to experience directly in day-to-day life. Currently, your sexual fantasies are quite vibrant and rich; the thin membrane between your core essence of self and your energetic sexual self is particularly permeable, allowing these parts of your energetic body to merge and mix. Put another way, as you mentally explore your sexual fantasies you will come into contact with your authentic self, learning more about what makes you unique — and also reaching a well of creativity. The more sexually honest you are, the deeper you will be able to push into yourself, bringing you into contact with a stronger sense of feeling good about your sexual identity. — by Genevieve Hathaway

Capricorn (Dec. 22- Jan. 20)

Capricorn (Dec. 22-Jan. 20) — Your unconscious is currently a very busy place, with a lot going on just out of reach. It’s like you can barely brush your fingers against what you are trying to access; you’re getting a small, tactile sensation of the information, yet it’s a little too far from you to actually take hold of. Internal pressure is driving you to want to know what this information is. I suggest you resist the urge to get frustrated. With time and patience, what you need to know will rise to the surface for you to examine. Slowly making its way into your consciousness are familial emotional patterns and their impact on you in needing to portray a self-sufficient, strong exterior. As you take note of what you learn over the coming weeks, keep one thought in the forefront of your mind: you are worthy of the emotional support you desire. The key is not to stop asking for it. — by Genevieve Hathaway

Aquarius (Jan. 20- Feb. 19)

Aquarius (Jan. 20-Feb. 19) — With Saturn’s move into Scorpio, the landscape of your professional life began to shift. The recent solar eclipse in that same area of your chart has made it feel like someone hit the fast-forward button on the set changeover. Events are occurring quickly, and for a Moon sign that finds emotional grounding in structure and routine, this rapid professional change can feel disconcerting and destabilizing. Instead of putting your energy into trying to hold all the moving pieces, focus on the aspect of your work that is artistic — creating something unique, different and that resonates deep within you. Tapping into your root of authentic originality and vision will give you an anchor with which to ground your emotions, while also manifesting in your professional life that which will be greatly satisfying for you to produce. — by Genevieve Hathaway

Pisces (Feb. 19- March 20)

Pisces (Feb. 19-March 20) — You’re currently working through what may initially appear as a point of tension regarding your highest career goals. I suggest you think of this less as something wrong, and more as an opportunity or opening to cover a lot of ground in reworking your attitude toward your highest professional calling. This opening is not obvious when looking directly at what you are trying to work through; it’s a door that your intuition and creativity will find. Step sideways and the optical illusion will shift for you to see the door and slip through. From this new angle you will have a unique viewpoint on your professional goals, the kind of perspective that will let you reform your career expectations in a way that aligns you more with your authentic self. You are in the process of inventing a career path that is well suited to you and your gifts. — by Genevieve Hathaway

Moonshine Horoscopes for October 2012

Planet Waves

The very thin crescent immediately after the New Moon. Photo by Anthony Ayiomamitis, Sounion, Greece.

Yesterday was the Libra New Moon. We covered that in last week’s issue. This was a profound New Moon, making contact with many of the newly discovered planets — opposite Eris, square Varuna, and trine Nessus. It’s likely that a lot of inner material came up and that it will continue to do so for another couple of weeks, till you really figure out what the events of the New Moon were pointing to when the Taurus Full Moon arrives on Oct. 29.

Thank you, Genevieve, for the horoscopes. Readers — we will see you Friday with a regular issue of Planet Waves. Please note that due to a ‘calendar quirk’ in my writing schedule with a local magazine I work with, Chronogram, the issue may publish a few hours later than usual. But we will try to avoid this. — efc

Aries (March 20-April 19)

Aries (March 20-April 19) — Dreams tell us a story about ourselves; a tale allowing access to some of the deepest levels of our psyche. Yet at times, the meaning contained within these accounts comes across as unclear, like you were sold a box of cereal without the special “surprise-inside” decoder ring to decipher the message on the back of the carton. Currently, your dreams are particularly potent, containing much in the way of useful information surrounding deep emotional material. Think of the decoder ring as combining objectivity with your intuition. As your subconscious moves through the layers of your psychic body you will make contact with this deep material, which may include wounds of a sexual or desire-based nature. What you access does not just apply to your current lifetime, but goes back generations. I suggest keeping a dream journal on your bed stand. Record the details of your dreams, and also how you feel about them (especially how you feel waking up from any particular dream that you remember). Information written down allows for objectivity — enough distance to connect the dots and bring the larger message into focus. Once this picture starts to take shape, you will be able to apply your intuition in regards to the most effective method for healing. — by Genevieve Hathaway.

Taurus (April 19- May 20)

Taurus (April 19-May 20) — As Saturn moves through early Scorpio, look for questions of partnership to arise. As one of the gods of change, Saturn brings with it lessons of claiming our own authority, including selecting who we invest our time and energy in. How we locate ourselves as children in relation to the parental dynamic often carries on through adulthood. It plays out in partnerships until the pattern is consciously addressed and new, authentic methods of relating adopted. As relationships come into question, look to see if you can spot your parents’ influence; this is a clue to go deep and access with full honesty whether it’s aligned with who you are. A number of relationships may be revealed to be not as healthy for you as you may have thought, and you would benefit from cutting them loose. This is a process about getting clear on what you want and who you truly want to invest time and love in, and then taking action to enact change. I suggest you view change as a necessary ingredient for progress, instead of as a loss. A number of supportive relationships will be entering your life, but first you must clear the decks of those who are taking up space without nurturing and enriching you. — by Genevieve Hathaway.

Gemini (May 20- June 21)

Gemini (May 20-June 21) — You give a lot of yourself to what you do for work — placing your energy and passion on a daily basis into your work projects. Without meaningful and challenging tasks, feelings of unhappiness and being unfulfilled can arise. You are entering a period of re-evaluating the daily structure of your work. This may manifest as feeling apathetic about projects into which you’ve invested quite a bit of time, energy and love. I suggest you view these developments as a reassessment of what suits you and what doesn’t — a re-arranging of the day-to-day structures of work rather than scrapping projects. As you consider what changes to make, I propose you investigate the level of curiosity involved in every aspect of your work. Curiosity is an active process involving inquisitive thinking. Your curiosity needs to be engaged as a daily exercise in all that you do for you to feel good investing in any task. The concept implies a mix of exploration, experimentation and flexibility. A good starting point for re-examining your work environment and tasks is whether they nurture and provide space for you to fully employ these modes of operating with room to take risks, be creative, and apply your intuition. — by Genevieve Hathaway.

Cancer (June 21- July 22)

Cancer (June 21-July 22) — In ancient Sanskrit there is a simple greeting used all the time, the meaning of which carries great impact; the word is namaste. It means, “the Spirit within me salutes the Spirit in you” — a recognition of the presence of a sentient, feeling being within the body of a person. You have quite a bit in common with this Indian word. For you this concept manifests in the form of instinctual empathy, the ability to understand and share the feelings of others. Interwoven in the concept of empathy is the idea of the simple act of recognizing the conscious essence inside another human being, just as namaste acknowledges the spirit within. In an ever-increasingly superficial world, daily existence has been reduced to 140 characters on Twitter, major life milestones announced over Facebook, and couples breaking up via text messaging. Applying the energy and love to understand and consciously recognize an individual brings a deep, positive impact to those you interact with. You impact more people than you realize, passing on this perspective of empathy to many of the folks you help, who in turn spread the message even further. — by Genevieve Hathaway.

Leo (July 22- Aug. 23)

Leo (July 22-Aug. 23) — The next few years for you are about cultivating emotional stability — what that looks like to you, how you get there, and making the necessary changes. You possess plenty of emotional depth, sometimes too much, to the point where you can get lost in it. Emotional stability means erecting a solid ground inside of you; a place of reference you can always go internally that gives the feeling of grounding, solidity and confidence. This means defining your inner space as distinctly yours, separate from any family influences. It also means claiming your space to exist, and claiming it as genuinely you. During this process, you may run into family patterns you never recognized. I suggest, no matter how sticky or murky the situation gets, that you consider what you are sorting out as a commitment to yourself, which means proceeding with diligence and dedication. Move through the ground you cover consciously, even applying some radical honesty when necessary. This may mean rehashing old territory with close partners, restating conversations from a new place of complete honesty. Don’t get too wrapped up in another’s view; instead keep the focus on your own inner journey and the place you are moving to. Finding your own solid sense of security will in turn benefit those around you. — by Genevieve Hathaway.

Virgo (Aug. 23- Sep. 22)

Virgo (Aug. 23-Sep. 22) — Scorpio in the area of your chart involving communication brings a need to feel and listen before you speak. You have a sharp wit and an even sharper tongue, especially when feeling emotionally threatened. Ultimately, you wish to support people, to be of service. Being of service to others means feeling through any impulsive states to your more spiritually grounded feeling-body, while also offering others the grace to be imperfect. As Saturn moves through Scorpio for the next few years, you will undergo a re-evaluation of your communication methods. This is about expressing empathy and grace as conscious choices. I suggest you avoid spending too much time on self-criticism when you are less than perfect in an interaction. Progress won’t be achieved through negativity toward yourself. Rather, letting go of old ways means allowing in the new. That doesn’t happen in a vacuum; be willing to try something new, and then make small adjustments to steadily craft a method of communicating that brings a larger compassionate component. When you are working from a grounded place of service, the results you wish to achieve will seem more tangible; but more importantly you and those around you will find greater emotional support with each other. — by Genevieve Hathaway.

Libra (Sep. 22 - Oct. 23)

Libra (Sep. 22-Oct. 23) — Over the next few weeks take the time to clarify details in relationships, even if that means seemingly having the same conversation a number of times. New information will become apparent in each discussion, moving both parties closer to a genuine understanding of the other person’s position. Honesty and operating from a position of focused thinking will bring progress in each discussion. I suggest you be extra vigilant not to set aside your own needs in favor of some perceived balance through giving the other person all that they want. Trust that the other person you’re working with also wants the greatest good for all — and that doesn’t mean you setting aside your needs. Any differences between you and the other person come down to perception and personal boundaries. A compromise is available where both parties’ boundaries are respected and both individuals feel their needs are met. Applying this dedication to fully defining and detailing the landscape between you and a partner will bring greater trust in a partner’s honest intentions and their shared commitment to getting the details of communication right. — by Genevieve Hathaway.

Scorpio (Oct. 23- Nov. 22)

Scorpio (Oct. 23-Nov. 22) — With Saturn entering the sign of your Moon you’re beginning a period of time focused on choice. Notice how the choices you make support stepping into ownership of your authority over your needs and emotions — or whether the decisions you make (or don’t make) give that power to someone else. Choice implies both discipline and focus. It’s an opportunity to make a decision based on integrity; which can also be thought of as being whole and undivided, or in line with what you value. At the most basic level, this is about honoring who you are, and your needs. Part of what it means to be your own authority is claiming your space to be you, not altering how you are to please others or protect a part of yourself. The potent combination of Chiron and Neptune moving through a fellow water sign, Pisces, will provide plenty of assistance in breaking down systems and patterns that have blocked you from fully owning your power of self-governance. This process will both help you claim your power, and also let you reorient to what it means to be vulnerable. Acceptance of vulnerability gives strength and opens the door for connection with other people, both important components of experiencing genuine happiness on a daily basis. — by Genevieve Hathaway.

Sagittarius (Nov. 22 - Dec. 22)

Sagittarius (Nov. 22-Dec. 22) — Passing through the sign of your Moon is a fiery little spark plug of a minor planet called Pholus. With another high-energy planet, Jupiter, tracking through your opposite sign Gemini, your astrological landscape is illuminated for miles. You can think of this energy as the energy of the Sun bottled to run your hometown; it would take only a tiny amount to power it for a year. If you opened up the full power of the Sun, you’d fry every circuit and electrical device. You have to keep the dosage small and directed. Your emotions currently carry that kind of power, and it’s essential to apply intention, vision and discipline with precision as you express them. Proceed consciously, especially in your relationships, for the next few weeks. Process your emotions, rather than reacting to how they make you feel. Like a pendulum, your strongly energized feelings could cause situations to swing widely in opposite directions. The key is to apply just a little nudge, then a minor course correction if that little push turned out to have too much force behind it. Small steps, always working from a point of a loving vision, will make the greatest impact. — by Genevieve Hathaway.

Capricorn (Dec. 22- Jan. 20)

Capricorn (Dec. 22-Jan. 20) — Human beings developed as social animals, dependent on the larger group and community for survival, both physically and emotionally. This group nature can be seen in people’s fear of being kicked out of their tribe if they are authentically themselves. As Saturn enters Scorpio this month, disconnects between your community’s values and your own personal values will become increasingly apparent and unsatisfactory to live with. Those values that resonate within you on the deepest, most instinctual level are your core beliefs. I suggest you not throw them aside no matter how many times those around you may have dismissed or disagreed with them. A clue that values are authentic is when they are free of guilt, shame or fear. Over the next few years, you will be consciously selecting your community based on this set of beliefs; looking for a group of people who support and share those values that are part of your list of ‘non-negotiables’. This is not about being rigid in what you believe, but rather about honoring your needs and ideals and making choices that align with supporting those beliefs. When your community fully supports you being 100% you, much in the way of emotional nourishment will become available in the form of acceptance. — by Genevieve Hathaway.

Aquarius (Jan. 20- Feb. 19)

Aquarius (Jan. 20-Feb. 19) — I propose that for you, for a career to be satisfying it needs to resonate on a soul level. I don’t mean a job that is ‘fun’, rather that it provides an orientation point for accessing a deep sense of connection to the larger world. As Saturn begins its long journey across Scorpio, you are beginning a distinctive phase in your professional life; a period of time where the work that you do will matter to you and to others. Being ‘a butt in a chair’ or just doing a task for a paycheck won’t cut it. Even if you try, you won’t be able to maintain the illusion of it working for long. You are beginning what is not just a new phase, but a new start, implying that the past won’t dictate what you build or even who you are in the future. Past experiences can be useful in some instances; though in the coming weeks and months I suggest you meet the idea of your career with a fresh new outlook, not making any assumptions or judgments from past situations. Instead, let your work evolve organically by following your inner Geiger counter of curiosity and passion to guide the choices you make and chances you take. What is on offer is not just a career that lets you engage the larger world with impact, but also provides you with deep emotional, spiritual and intellectual nourishment. — by Genevieve Hathaway.

Pisces (Feb. 19- March 20)

Pisces (Feb. 19-March 20) — Currently, the water signs are in a mutually beneficial dialogue that funnels right into you and your sense of creativity and vision. Many of the necessary pieces for the creation of art are being interwoven into your approach — discipline, focus, conscious choice and an element of nourishment from the process. You bring creativity and vision to the table. From this mix, much in the way of timely and important art will be created. All that’s required is taking the step and giving it a try. I suggest you leave any doubts regarding the worthiness of what you make at the door, no matter what opinions are voiced. Your vision and how that vision manifests is needed by the world. With Neptune and Chiron moving through Pisces, and Saturn now in Scorpio, the world is shifting into a place that fits you just a little bit better. People will show up who are receptive to what you are offering — your vision and the resulting art. The first step is to translate it from inside of you to a tangible, physical form. Then work both the local and global methods of spreading information and building connection. Tap your local community to share your art and utilize the great connection experiment that is the Internet to share with people all over the world. What nourished you through the creation process will resonate with many people — and in turn nourish them through the enjoyment and emotional exploration art provides. — by Genevieve Hathaway.

Moonshine Horoscope, Schedule Tune-Up — and Uranus-Pluto

Dear Friend and Reader:

This week we have the Moonshine horoscope for you, written by upstart horoscope writer Genevieve Hathaway, filed from Australia. By the way, Genevieve’s contribution to last week’s edition — her reportage from the neighborhood of the Egyptian embassy in Cairo — went uncredited (see second paragraph). We know the street where the embassy is located is blocked by troops and tanks because very recently, she lived three blocks away.

Campaign promises. Photo by Eric Francis.

While I’m on the topic of monthly horoscopes, I had promised the Planet Waves Monthly horoscope for Friday. However, the Sun will still be in Virgo, and I don’t recall ever mailing the monthly horoscope with the Sun in the old sign. It’s our tradition to mail with the Sun in the new sign and the new story, which can be a little awkward with the Sun changing signs on a Saturday.

I’m just about done with the October monthly, which I’ll send to you on Friday, Sept. 28. That will come with the October overview.

Therefore, for this coming Friday, I’m planning a special horoscope that covers the equinox, the Sun’s ingress into Libra, and an event that happens tomorrow — the second of seven Uranus-Pluto squares. Heck, that should be an exciting horoscope.

If you’re not familiar with the term “Uranus-Pluto square,” this is what I’ve been calling the 2012 aspect. It’s really a series of events between mid-2012 and early 2015 that define the era in which we are living, and the theme is revolutionary change. We’ve been seeing this spread across the Middle East and North Africa. (For readers new to the concept, check out The Top Five Events of 2012, and see the 7th item on the list.)

We’ve been feeling it in our own lives, though many have manifested it mainly as the pressure to change, in an environment where change often seems impossible.

I will have more to say about that on Friday.

Lovingly,

Note: These horoscopes are based on your Moon sign. To look that up, enter your birth data into Serennu.com. I suggest you also read your Sun and rising signs. — efc

Aries (March 20-April 19)

Aries (March 20-April 19) — You’ve been moving through a period of discovery, a quest for emotional freedom, regarding your needs in relation to yourself and others. During the past three years, you made much headway reassessing your partnerships and how you related to the concept of relationship, even if you could not always see the progress. At times, you had to drop down through your internal layers to attain the answers and solutions you sought. Re-orientating your relational perceptions and needs meant less energy spent at that time on enacting changes to the structure of partnerships. But, this work, even when accompanied by the sensation of delay, was important to where you’ve grown to in the present. As you prepare for another outer-planet shift, Saturn entering Scorpio, use the next month to evaluate where you’ve been and what you learned. Ease back on the pace of your life, freeing up space and time to reflect. Ideas and insights will solidify into your consciousness from within your emotional body. There is something here about outgrowing the relational assumptions of prior generations. And now: what is the plan, the vision? — by Genevieve Hathaway

Taurus (April 19- May 20)

Taurus (April 19-May 20) — Your emotional energy reserves are a precious resource. When your energy tank is full you feel more balanced and able to accomplish your highest goals. You’ve spent the last few years learning what drains you and what brings you the sensation of having plenty of vitality to work with. You can think of vitality like a fire, finite in the sense that without fuel it will go out. But, a continuously stoked fire can burn for eternity. Recently, you’ve learned much in the way of useful information regarding how to continuously add fuel to your own inner source of energy. Knowledge is only useful though when acted upon. I suggest you sit down with a sheet of paper and a pen (not your iPhone), jotting down what drains you and what fills you with vitality. Note what has brought you excitement, the kind of excitement where you feel like you could work for three straight days. Use this information as a starting point when you feel particularly lacking in enthusiasm about people or projects. These changes to the structure of your environment will move you to a place with a stronger energy well to tap. — by Genevieve Hathaway

Gemini (May 20- June 21)

Gemini (May 20-June 21) — Through late September and into early October, you are revisiting the territory you covered in early June, bringing both a review and also an opportunity to fine-tune the changes you’ve begun. What has been on offer is a new manner in relating to yourself. Thought of another way, your concept of being you, the emotional patterns and feelings that govern how you experience situations, is restructuring. New information arose over the past few months that will assist you in making further progress in understanding the patterns and feeling processes you wish to keep, and those you intend to let go. If the boundaries between the old and new instinctual patterns becomes hard to see, I suggest you look for markers of fear, anxiety or guilt. These indicate emotional habits and structures that are not serving you, and are stopping you from settling into living from a place of authenticity. At times, carving out these old responses may mean going all the way back to your childhood; fear, anxiety and guilt are indicators of something that was given to you, rather than an emotional habit that is genuinely you. — by Genevieve Hathaway

Cancer (June 21- July 22)

Cancer (June 21-July 22) — The concept of identity crisis implies that a trouble or danger is present; that something is wrong with the individual. This idea denies a real, healthy process of growth and does not inform the actual process by which one’s identity undergoes change. I propose that you build into your self-assessment method a mental warning light surrounding any ideas that involve something being “wrong with you.” This feeling indicates someone else’s agenda is involved. Growth does not involve a danger, emergency or failure on your part; rather than involving any kind of crisis it comes with a breakthrough. The process lets you heal and move to a state that is closer to your authentic self. Over the past few years you’ve undergone quite a bit of growth — moving beyond old internal paradigms. Your wants and needs shifted, at times changing what you valued. Continue following where this development leads, even if it involves some large restructuring in your external world to reflect your new desires. Working from a place of authenticity will ultimately bring the best results for both you and the people around you. — by Genevieve Hathaway

Leo (July 22- Aug. 23)

Leo (July 22-Aug. 23) — This month a work project you’ve been investing time and creative energy in for a while will gain traction and accelerate, moving past a seeming block that has frustrated you and your partners. Your visibility, personae of leadership, and communication skills will aid the project in moving beyond this apparent hurdle. Trust your instinct to be the front-man, the face of the project. You have the skills and strength to guide the undertaking in the direction it needs to go. The solutions you are currently working with may appear improbable to others, but you see the open side window whereas they keep rushing headlong into the locked front door. Your creative ideas are forming from deep within, tapping into some of your deepest wells of inventiveness. They may not be what others expect, however, so I suggest you stick with your proposals, even if there is initial resistance from business partners. Your emotional connection and devotion to your ideas will aid important individuals in ultimately having faith in your unique solutions. — by Genevieve Hathaway

Planet Waves

Hello Virgo and Virgo rising readers. I’ve just finished your 2012-2013 birthday reading. Check this link to listen to your hour-long astrology reading plus Tarot.

Virgo (Aug. 23- Sep. 22)

Virgo (Aug. 23-Sep. 22) — Through September, your internal world seems to have taken on a particularly complicated feel. You are currently sorting through many competing yet interconnected emotions. I suggest you take the time to follow the strands of this web to where they lead. This process will take you deep into your past to issues that started in childhood. Something is coming up that you learned from your parents, particularly surrounding your father’s personal beliefs and his relationship to his own emotions. This idea you are working through has informed a lot of how you feel about who you are and how you treat emotions. Any feeling of shame or guilt that arises is not a comment on you, rather part of the conditioning you received as a small child. To navigate through these emotional blocks, start from a place of accepting your imperfections and honoring your vulnerability. Acknowledge these attributes as having worth and being an acceptable part of you. Doing so will help you connect to a deep, solid sense of self-value. — by Genevieve Hathaway

Libra (Sep. 22 - Oct. 23)

Libra (Sep. 22-Oct. 23) — For the past three years Saturn has moved through your Moon sign, accompanied at times by a feeling of being a stranger in your own skin. The familiarity that is inherent in the concept of being ‘you’ may not have always felt solid during this time as emotional patterns and needs you were living with clashed with newly realized authentic aspects of yourself. Re-invention of your internal framework involved changing patterns, many of which you learned as a child. The ground you covered involved how you maintained honoring your needs, in a relationship, while also honoring your partner’s needs. This starts with taking care of yourself first and foremost, then works itself out from there to the other people involved. When you’re emotionally nurtured and your needs acknowledged, you then have plenty of reserves to care for others. Over the next few weeks, continue to get comfortable with the new ideas and perspectives you are integrating into what it means to be you, the responses you naturally go to in relational situations. Review how your instinctive reactions now differ from a few years back; where you have grown to will not seem that odd of a place, rather an extension of who you’ve always been at the deepest, most genuine level. — by Genevieve Hathaway

Hello Libra — Eric has written a new description for your sign that you have access to from this link (no password needed).
Scorpio (Oct. 23- Nov. 22)

Scorpio (Oct. 23-Nov. 22) — Mars’ current trek through your Moon sign is making your emotional state particularly edgy and intense. Your internal landscape at the moment feels like you’re living with a double dose of you. Great in theory; for who wouldn’t want two of themselves? But in practice one is plenty intense, two explosive. Projecting a calm exterior is your usual state, but that is a thin veil, with strong, hot emotions churning underneath. Many volcanos pull off this trick, too — they appear from a distance to be quiet pinnacles of nature; peer into their craters and you find magma boiling up. Watch your levels of frustration over the next few weeks, and use extra patience when dealing with people. Unnecessary friction could arise, if you don’t keep your currently volatile emotions in check. Those around you can feel the heat you emit, even during your most pleasantly placid moments. I suggest you find a place for this intense feeling and passion to go in a constructive manner. Pour yourself into hot sex, creating art, working on a project and physical exercise. All will serve to release your internal pressure — and you will create some truly inspired work. — by Genevieve Hathaway

Hello Scorpio — Eric has written a new description for your sign that you have access to from this link (no password needed).
Sagittarius (Nov. 22 - Dec. 22)

Sagittarius (Nov. 22-Dec. 22) — What does it mean to be a practical risk-taker? How well do you judge when to take a risk and when to act conservatively? I suggest you take the time over the next few weeks to reflect on these questions. Currently, your instinct for risk taking is particularly strategic and adept. Reflecting on how you assess a situation involving a risk or uncertainty will help you note how much skill you actually have in making these types of decisions. As opportunities arise that involve plenty of uncertainty, rely more on your own judgment and system for determining the best course of action, and less on the opinion of others. Some of the risks you are poised to take appear unpredictable from the outside. As a result, individuals may view the decisions you make as rash. This is an incorrect assessment; you know exactly what you are doing and are in a good position to take the leap, even if it seems as wide as the Grand Canyon. Look for the feeling of something you must do; a very focused and driven vision will help you navigate through your different options. For a while, you may have to go it alone with an idea; though there is a lot more support around you than it initially appears, and very soon it will manifest. — by Genevieve Hathaway

Hello Sagittarius — Eric has written a new description for your sign that you have access to from this link (no password needed).
Capricorn (Dec. 22- Jan. 20)

Capricorn (Dec. 22-Jan. 20) — During the past few years, you’ve experienced emotional highs and lows regarding your career path. Many big changes arrived, and the current landscape of the work you do may look quite different from how it did in the early to mid-2000s. At times these changes felt almost personal. I suggest you quickly abandon this perspective, rather viewing career as a learning process and less a fixed entity. Take the longer view, noting how the seeming setbacks and tangible advances directed your career onto a new path. Not all endings are bad; many clear the way for you to move in a new direction. Something you have been holding onto fell away; instead of a loss it actually freed up your creativity which was held stagnate. This new inventiveness is driving new desired changes you wish to make surrounding your larger career goals. Over the next few weeks, wrap up the loose ends of projects that do not further this new career aim. End those business relationships on a productive note, while also freeing up time and energy to invest in the projects that support your new work vision. — by Genevieve Hathaway

Aquarius (Jan. 20- Feb. 19)

Aquarius (Jan. 20-Feb. 19) — Over the past three years, you underwent a shift in your personal philosophy, experimenting with, and developing, ideas that more accurately suit your most authentic needs. During this exploration of your belief system, you incorporated different forms of spirituality and philosophies. You were not so much trying on hats to see which best fit, rather seeing which pieces of these higher subjects matched what you’ve observed in the world and synced with your values. Spend the next month reflecting on this perspective change, noting how far you’ve grown and the overarching personal themes that were restructured. Much of what you changed involved the concept of how to live a balanced life, which translates to an emotionally healthy existence. You’ve learned that balance isn’t about two scales being equal, but more often about doing what is best for you. Making decisions from that concept of balance will result in everyone involved benefiting. To support and help others, you must start from a place of fully owning what is best for you. — by Genevieve Hathaway

Pisces (Feb. 19- March 20)

Pisces (Feb. 19-March 20) — Pisceans are often described as more interested in living in a ‘dream world’ than ‘reality’. Other individuals’ version of reality is often a bit bland, and your ‘dream world’ is actually a vast resource of creativity. Currently, this imaginative element, which runs through every fabric of your emotional being, is particularly abundant, providing plenty of ideas and inspiration for your projects. I suggest you carve out time over the next few weeks to be around that which provides the most inspiration. Photograph, paint, draw, write, make music — spend plenty of time feeding that creative vein into the tangible form and pick a subject that fills you with a sensation of meaning and contribution. Not only will something physically beautiful be created, but this immersion in the production of art will also emotionally nurture you. A regenerative cycle, feeding your emotional body will thus inspire more creativity in your projects and give you plenty of energy to invest in them. — by Genevieve Hathaway

Moonshine Horoscope, Full Moon & Ind. (Day)

Dear Friend and Reader:

Today we have the Moonshine horoscope by Genevieve Hathaway, written in Cairo. Moonshine is based on your Moon sign, which is a good thing to know if you find astrology helpful. It will open up a new dimension of your astrological consciousness (and there are many more after that). Though they’re written based on the qualities and properties of the Moon sign, I’ve found them useful for both the Sun and rising sign as well. Try them on and see what resonates with you.

Planet Waves

If you’re curious what your Moon sign is, I suggest you go to Astro.com, get a free membership and enter your birth data. This will tell you what sign your Moon is in. Or you can go to Serennu.com and enter the data there (converting to Greenwich time) and check without having to get a membership.

I would call your attention to a few other recent features from Planet Waves. One is yesterday’s daily post on today’s Capricorn Full Moon. That happens at 2:52 pm EDT. This article includes Mars ingressing Libra (which just happened about two hours ago) and the Moon-Pluto occultation.

I’ve also posted Planet Waves FM early in honor of the Full Moon and staying ahead of the Independence Day holiday. This edition covers the week’s astrology from a different angle than yesterday’s daily, in more nuanced detail — particularly the Moon-Pluto event and Mars entering Libra. If you have the time, this edition of FM is an excellent, patient explanation of deeply sensitive astrology that influences your life personally.

I also look at the USA Sibly chart, then I wrap myself in the rainbow flag and read the Declaration of Independence, a tradition I started last year (though I didn’t read the whole thing). My reading of the Declaration is included as a separate file in case you’re a deejay in Mykonos and you want to mix it up with some fantastic dub step techno house or maybe even a little Lady Gaga.

On a schedule note, there will be no Daily Astrology tonight; that will resume overnight Wednesday to Thursday, and Friday’s subscriber edition will be a horoscope only.

If you’re in the United States, have a safe and sane holiday, and for all those elsewhere, a chill week in the midst of the heat and the hot astrology.

Lovingly,

Eric Francis

Cancer Birthday Reading is Ready!

Hello Cancer Sun, Moon and rising folk — and happy birthday to Cancer Sun readers.

The Cancer 2012-2013 birthday report is now available. This is a detailed reading of transits as they influence your sign, with a focus on career and relationships — and a special focus on home and security base. It accounts for certain factors going out as far as 2014 that begin to have an influence starting in July.

Planet Waves

This is an excellent astrological product covering the transits you’ve been reading about in Planet Waves, including the Uranus-Pluto square, the Saturn-Eris opposition, Mars changing signs and the conclusion of Venus retrograde.

I also include a reading with the Voyager Tarot by James Wanless — cross-checking the astrology with the Tarot with some surprising results. The product includes photos of the Tarot spread, the chart, and access to last year’s reading so you can both review and check its accuracy against the events of your life.

If you have never tried one of my birthday readings, we’re so confident it will be helpful that we offer a full guarantee of your purchase. My intention is to make this the most worthwhile $19.95 you’ve ever spent on an astrology product, and I put the best of my talent into the work.

Note, this report is substantially different from the 2012 annual (Revolution. Revelation. Reality Check.) written with six months’ extra perspective and covering many other themes.

Here is your link to order.

This report will be effective and timely for Cancer rising and Moon readers as well. For other signs, we have a page that lists all of my birthday products for the past year or so.

Thank you for your business. Please let me know how you like the reading. Here is what other readers have said about my birthday products — the response has been amazing.

Moonshine Horoscope for July 2012 by Genevieve Hathaway

Aries (March 20-April 19)

Aries (March 20-April 19) — Usually your words align with your desire; you possess a clear ‘yes’ and ‘no’. Said another way, you tend to speak and write from a place of honesty and authenticity, a refreshingly genuine trait. For a while, you’ve tried to communicate an idea regarding your emotional needs, specifically the need to create new structures that serve you rather than propagating the patterns of the past. What you wish to state has remained murky, bringing a feeling of frustration. This concept has been a bit slippery to orient on and relate in verbal and written terms. Traction to find the words you seek is becoming available, but involves a stretch. This is less about a physical reaching out, and more an expansion of your vision. Some well-placed curiosity about yourself can yield information that helps you bridge the clarity gap. This will allow you to translate what you’ve wanted to explain to those around you. Focus on open receptivity, and paying attention to what your senses tell you. This will help you to see the whole landscape, including the corners. What you are looking for will manifest on the fringes of your vision then move into the center, granting you access to it in detail.by Genevieve Hathaway.

Hello Aries — Eric has written a new description for your sign that you have access to from this link (no password needed).

Taurus (April 19- May 20)

Taurus (April 19-May 20) — Internal patterns that do not serve you have hung around longer than you wished, stemming from a perceived feeling of comfort in knowing how to work with them. Put another way, you were operating from the philosophy that the problem you know is better than the problem you don’t know. This idea is one you were given in childhood, but actually it goes back generations. You can break this cycle of perpetuating these patterns that your family has lived with a long, long time. Acknowledgment that you want a different inner emotional space is the first step. From there it’s a matter of deciding how you want to feel, using your imagination as a guide. I propose you see this as a process of moving away from how you’ve felt in the past, and instead experiment with new emotional responses to familiar situations. Do not worry about getting it ‘right’. Rather, focus on simply experiencing existence differently from before. You are covering new territory. Some of the emotional patterns you try will work and some will not. How you spot a pattern to hold onto is if it makes you feel good about being you, good about existing.by Genevieve Hathaway.

Gemini (May 20- June 21)

Gemini (May 20-June 21) — Your relationship to your emotional framework is evolving. That’s another way of saying how you experience your feeling body has undergone changes. There are two things working here — what you feel, and how you respond to it — and you’re becoming conscious of the connection between the two. This shift has been building for some time. Growth can come with the sensation of a stretch, but where you are reaching to now is a place of deeper emotional balance. Think of this as a chance to imagine a different frame of mind through which you filter experience. This includes knowing your expectations, and changing them if you need to. Proceed actively, harnessing intention as the mechanism by which you make desired changes. Thought of another way, know where you want things to be different and align your choices and emotions with the new vision. Currently, those around you are holding space for you to experiment with new emotional models of receptivity and nurturing. They are more open than you think, which is to say, you have help not being fixated on the past. It’s always better to have cooperation with that one.by Genevieve Hathaway.

Cancer (June 21- July 22)

Cancer (June 21-July 22) — Our increasingly polluted planet is in a lot of pain — the trees, land animals, critters in the sea — and so is our own species. This influences all of our psychic and emotional bodies, though you are particularly sensitive. You feel this large-scale pain acutely and deeply; you instinctively take responsibility for healing much of the world’s suffering. At times you may not feel like you are making much of a dent in the suffering you see around you. Your intention does go a long way in making a difference. I propose a simple exercise — go hug a tree. I mean literally hug your favorite tree, transferring to it all the love you can muster. Then maybe sit with it and ask how it’s doing and if it has any information for you. The astrology is aligning in the section of your chart that will translate the love you give on a global scale. You stand between the business-as-usual way of living that has brought us nothing but a polluted planet and unhappy human race and, on the other side, love: the inner condition of beauty and harmony. Each loving act — toward your fellow man, animals, plants — tips the balance a little more in the favor of a loving, healthy world. Plus, trees are pretty smart.by Genevieve Hathaway.

Leo (July 22- Aug. 23)

Leo (July 22-Aug. 23) — Over the next few weeks, reevaluate where you invest your emotional resources. In terms of what you give back to the world, your deepest needs are calling you to acknowledge and utilize your skills involving emotional nurturing. They are greater than you may recognize, and this is enhanced by the Sun’s forthcoming conjunction to your natal Moon. To feel emotionally satisfied in your soul, you need to be doing work that supports people. I’m not talking about helping your next-door neighbor, but rather participating in the world on a scale larger than you might imagine. I suggest you consider work that benefits women, possibly involving something international (though obviously there are plenty of opportunities to be of service close to home). Your chart at the present time is highlighting the positive influences you can have on what you might think of as the feminine cosmos, for whom some women are the representatives in human form. The key is to make the connection from something tangible to something much larger. Having a Leo Moon can mean you want to take care of everyone, everywhere. Remember that one of the deepest needs women have is companionship. Offering this is not a matter of effort; rather, it’s about attention.by Genevieve Hathaway.

Virgo (Aug. 23- Sep. 22)

Virgo (Aug. 23-Sep. 22) — Since early this year, you have worked through a series of journeys to the center of yourself. Each quest has had a different theme and a different feel, but took you to a similar place at your core, where your deepest passions are held. At times this process felt relentless, but served the purpose of driving home a point (and home may include a point about the house you live in). Being clear about what is right for you is actually a matter of alignment with your inner guidance, something most people deny. One reason you struggle with inner guidance is because there can be conflicts between the information you get, and what you think should be true. However, there came a few points where you realized you had no doubts whatsoever about what was in fact true, all doubts aside. You have been considering ideas about whether or not you were living your potential, but much still remained true only in theory. Now is the time to take action on your desires and your deepest values, putting all you have learned into practice. by Genevieve Hathaway.

Libra (Sep. 22 - Oct. 23)

Libra (Sep. 22-Oct. 23) — Your psychic body is increasing in sensitivity this month. And what, exactly is that? Think of that as the aspect of yourself where you simply know something is true, without needing external verification. This is particularly meaningful for informing you about the direction of your life and the choices you make. You have been deepening a connection to something about yourself that you know has always been true. Your intention and desire to act are condensing to the point where something solid can manifest. That, you might say, is the potential. Next, a form of action is required — in particular, consciously moving through emotional blockages belonging to your mother. Your emotional memory is filled with remnants of her attitudes she passed on to you, including her anger. How did she deal with that emotion? By trying to make everyone happy? What was the impact on her? Once you identify her tendencies, it will be easier to put them aside, and you will slip into a new, far more sensitive state of being without all that clutter in the way. Increased sensations of emotional balance, even when your external world is anything but harmonious, are indications you’ve reached this new space of existence.by Genevieve Hathaway.

Scorpio (Oct. 23- Nov. 22)

Scorpio (Oct. 23-Nov. 22) — The exterior ‘you’ that you present to the world does not often reflect the acute sensitivity and feeling that goes on inside you. You work hard to build a strong shell to keep your soft side well protected, though it’s time to question the wisdom of this. It’s not that you don’t trust people; rather, you are more aware than most of the dark aspects of human nature, and it seems prudent to respond. Yet what is that about? You seem poised to find out. It goes back a long way, to the chilly way you were treated as a child, and being able to see through people and understand their motives. This is now coming to the surface for healing. Acknowledge the pain brought by any lack of demonstration of how precious you were as a child to the people around you. Mothers are only human; and most of them become mothers before they’ve built the skills to raise another human being. Insufficient emotional nourishment in the past does not mean that you cannot catch up now. Forgive your mother’s shortcomings and apparent failures. They were what they were — you’re in charge of your life now, including being in command of responding to your own needs. Yet the path from here to there likely involves coming out of your shell and being just a little more vulnerable.by Genevieve Hathaway.

Sagittarius (Nov. 22 - Dec. 22)

Sagittarius (Nov. 22-Dec. 22) — Dynamics in your relationships, especially those involving women who look to you as an authority figure or source of emotional support, may seem to get complicated this month. Yet I suggest you view new developments less as a complication and more as a learning experience. What is manifesting is actually coming from within you. It seems to be about changes occurring in your partners or your relationship to them, though that’s reversing cause and effect. Like shining a light through a crystal which produces all the colors contained within one light wave, your modes of relating are now filtering into their many components, which are then projected into the world. While you’re taking the time to look at the components, remember the source of energy that’s creating them, and remember that it’s you through whom they are being filtered. Knowing the flow of energy will serve you a lot better than picking through the details of what only seems to be true. This will help you have an honest conversation with the significant women in your life. Handled with thought, care, love and holding space for all parties to grow, you will create deeper and stronger relationships.by Genevieve Hathaway.

Capricorn (Dec. 22- Jan. 20)

Capricorn (Dec. 22-Jan. 20) — You are a natural leader, which has its roots in your strong personality. Like a massive old-growth tree, your inherent strength is attractive to those around you. Many view you as someone who is strong through even the most chaotic and difficult situations, thus making them instinctively defer to you. At times, this quiet authority you exude has led to power struggles with people who seek authoritative roles but are not good at working smoothly with other leaders (or who intend the opposite). This can and does influence you where you work. Tension between you and an individual involved in your daily work routine has adversely affected the emotional satisfaction of your job. In order to get past this, it will be essential for you to make contact with your sense of security, and to leave your insecurities at the door. You possess naturally what others are only faking. To access the solution, you must step outside your usual problem-solving method. Feeling able to expand as authentically ‘you’ into your space at work will have a ripple effect — bringing a sense of emotional satisfaction to all facets of your life.by Genevieve Hathaway.

Aquarius (Jan. 20- Feb. 19)

Aquarius (Jan. 20-Feb. 19) — For the past few months, creative energy has been building in you, pushing to be expressed through art. In July, images and ideas are flooding your brain looking for an outlet in the physical world. I suggest you start carrying a sketchpad or notebook — and using it. Inspiration will be coming at all sorts of times and you will be bursting to jot or draw this down. Tune into your inner guide for the kind of art, writing or music to create; you will instinctively know the best form to express what is burning inside of you. Ignore your doubts surrounding your skill level or creative ability. These doubts are not actually informing you of anything useful. You may never have worked with a particular medium, but if inclination is driving you there, follow it. This process is bringing you in touch with a lost part of yourself — one that was sucked into the ethers with the ongoing technology revolution the past 10 to 15 years (and I suggest looking back that far for forgotten goals and desires). You will claim this part of you back through the physical movements and emotional attunement involved in doing the one thing that the universe was made for — creation.by Genevieve Hathaway.

Pisces (Feb. 19- March 20)

Pisces (Feb. 19-March 20) — Your inner world has gone through a series of expansions over the past year. At times this felt like your access to creativity was a never-ending well; other times it felt like you were way ahead of everyone else exploring a new frontier. Both were simultaneously true. Another expansion of your emotional plane occurs this month. It has the feeling of a door manifesting inside of you, inviting you to go through. This portal leads to a deeper well of emotional energy and a sense of the clear landscape of your soul. Opening this door requires a key, which comes in the form of knowledge. Seek information about what is best for you in terms of keeping your physical energy reserves full. Devote yourself completely to maintaining the health of your physical body. Eat well, drink plenty of water, get plenty of sleep, do not consume too much caffeine or alcohol, and get in touch with your physical self through movement. Make it a daily yoga to prioritize your physical health and wellbeing, and consciously drop any patterns that detract from your health and energy.by Genevieve Hathaway.

Moonshine horoscope for June 2012

Dear Friend and Reader:

Today we have the Moonshine horoscope by Genevieve Hathaway, who wrote her column in transit back from the United Astrology Conference on her way home to Cairo, Egypt.

Planet Waves

The Moonshine horoscope is based on your Moon sign, which is a good thing to know if you find astrology helpful. It will open up a new dimension of your astrological consciousness (and there are many more after that).

If you’re curious what your Moon sign is, I suggest you go to Astro.com, get a free membership and enter your birth data. This will tell you what sign your Moon is in. Or you can go to Serennu.com and enter the data there (converting to Greenwich time) and check without having to get a membership.

Though they’re written based on the qualities and properties of the Moon sign, I’ve found them useful for both the Sun and rising sign as well. Try them on and see what resonates with you.

We’ve just been through a series of eclipse-like events, three of which involved the Moon (annular solar eclipse when the Sun ingressed Gemini, a partial lunar eclipse last week, and then the Moon making an occultation to Pluto right at the end of the transit of Venus). So the Moon is a bit sensitive right now.

We are following this in Daily Astrology & Adventure though today our emphasis on the placement of Jupiter, which is in Gemini. I think you’ll like that article.

Please share your responses to Genevieve’s horoscopes.

Lovingly,

Eric Francis

Aries (March 20-April 19)

Aries (March 20-April 19) — Earlier this year, a series of events brought into focus a re-evaluation of your mental and emotional health. You can think of this as an assessment of whether or not your mental processes, as they existed previously, supported your feeling good about yourself. Patterns of thought influence your feeling body, which translates to a direct impact on your physical body. Recently, you have covered much ground in clearing out old, outdated mental patterns passed down through the generations of your family. In response, a potent moment of creative expression is building this month; your mind and body working together are one of your most powerful tools. Like a sharp sculptor’s knife, you can carve, craft, shape and refine the world around you with this newly integrated thought-emotion dynamic. I suggest you think of your mind as the platform by which you can translate your inner vision to a physical manifestation. Your emotional body, when it’s free of guilt, shame, fear and circular mental patterns, provides information about what is congruent with your soul. Feeling good and right in an action or intention is a clue that you’re in sync with your inner mission. As you learn to coordinate the efforts of your mind and body with clarity, you will gradually master cultivating intent into manifesting your desires. by Genevieve Hathaway.

Taurus (April 19- May 20)

Taurus (April 19-May 20) — A door is opening this month to let you slide easily through a series of changes regarding your perception of self-esteem. Said one way, you’re experiencing a synthesis of feelings and concepts surrounding your inherent worth. Said another way, you’re learning to feel good about being alive. The astrology in June accelerates the process and the pace of developments by an order of magnitude. You may be wondering how it’s really possible to feel so grounded and accepting of who you are. You can think of this as collecting the habits and tendencies that lead to this feeling. Really what you’re doing is settling a long argument that you were having with yourself. Once you remove the doubt and the contention, it’s easy to figure out that you possess a unique value to existence, one not tied to anything external. This is something you can’t buy or trade for or receive from someone else. Yet it’s the one resource that all other aspects of your life grow from. Proceed from a place of curiosity and openness to a space of self-discovery. You’re building strength that will last, where you can live every day feeling good about being you no matter what external conditions you may encounter.by Genevieve Hathaway.

Gemini (May 20- June 21)

Gemini (May 20-June 21) — As the events of this extraordinary month develop, I suggest you let go of old concepts dictating how you’re supposed to feel. You can start by making an inventory of all those ‘supposed to’ requirements. Your solar chart indicates a series of rapid changes to your psychic framework that are currently underway, and that you’ve no doubt noticed. This framework is the filter by which you experience existence on the most basic level. For a long time you lived with two seemingly different emotional spaces — one that was detached and mental, and one that was more feeling-based. An idea is pushing up from deep within you to aid you in synthesizing these two seemingly opposite modes of feeling. The melding of these two methods of interpreting your inner space changes the structure of your internal framework and thus shifts how you feel and perceive your life. As you orient on the new sensation of being you, I propose you not take it personally if people around you seem no longer to ‘get’ you. It may take them some time to catch up to who you are becoming, and you cannot wait for them. Any anger displayed from others is less about you and more about their uncertainty. If they think you no longer fit into the nice, neat box they placed you into, they may be having doubts about themselves as well. by Genevieve Hathaway.

Cancer (June 21- July 22)

Cancer (June 21-July 22) — Words are powerful tools. They define, shape and color a particular view of the world. Language specifies how you feel and places it in a box with measurable dimensions. What happens when an emotion in you expands beyond the limits of this box? You are in this moment, which may arrive with a sensation of discomfort or lack of ease as you stretch beyond your prior limits of expression and expand outward. In astrology, one of the ‘containers of consciousness’ is called the 12th house, and it’s been a busy place lately — fertile creative ground. This is spilling over into your emotional body, adding complex layers, dimensions and colors to your inner world. Naturally you will want to express these experiences with new combinations of words and ideas, as your prior ones no longer do the job. One way to do this will be to go beyond words and explore other methods of expression — such as visual, musical or tactile. This richness of emotional space will provide you with much in the way of ideas and inspiration to do just that. To fully access the new internal landscape, keep going when you reach a seeming limit (for example, if ‘words don’t work’). Curiosity and receptivity are two modes that will help you distinguish what you’re experiencing from the labels and constraints of the past. by Genevieve Hathaway.

Leo (July 22- Aug. 23)

Leo (July 22-Aug. 23) — Over the last few months you re-envisioned a number of concepts surrounding your emotional resources, differentiating those ideas from the patterns and attitudes inherited from your family. Simply put, you want more from life than they ever imagined possible. This process brought you into contact with one of your most important states of being: confidence about the work you do. During the eminently mysterious month of June, this new inner connection will help you raise awareness of your talents and how you apply them. A peak energy moment is developing, providing an opportunity to spread the impact of your gifts into your larger community. One key is to actually use your self-confidence rather than have it just be there. Conduct yourself like you’re already getting the job done. Express yourself in a way that sends the message that you’re here on this planet to make a difference, and connect that with your sense of fulfillment. As you share your best attributes, notice attempts by others to sidetrack you to their own projects — and take it as a compliment. Assess each individual’s motives, and look for the common ground you share. You don’t need help but cooperation is always nice — if you can get clear about the basic goals and values that you share. by Genevieve Hathaway.

Spring Checkpoint: Individual Signs Now Available

We will soon figure out that it’s actually 2012. The recent retrogrades of Mars and Mercury seemed to create a delay, but really this winter and early spring has been a phase of gestation. Over the next four weeks, the energy starts to pick up pace dramatically, and we will discover where we are and that something unusual, and beautiful, is happening.

Even as we approach the truly beautiful potential of the astrology that’s developing, many people are struggling with their day-to-day lives. There are more questions than answers; the economic and political situations seem hopeless; the pace of existence is going so fast that there seems to be nowhere to get in a little meaning, or seek some peace of mind.

Planet Waves

Here is where astrology can help. Astrology looks at the longer cycles, and the deeper themes — and can help you see your life in context of the present moment, no matter how chaotic it may be. Context means a sense of where you fit in that will help you see your potential and make better choices.

For years, I’ve been helping my clients prepare for making the most of the astrology of the 2012 era. Based on this experience, and many years of study, I’ve prepared a set of readings for all 12 signs (and rising signs, and Moon signs) that guides you through this astrology, step by step. I cover the most challenging and energized developments of this spring, which includes eclipses, Venus retrograde, the Venus transit of the Sun, and then a few days after the Sun ingresses Cancer, the Uranus-Pluto square.

Each sign gets a half-hour discussion. These came through loud and clear, with strength and meaning. I spent a week designing and recording them, and I am grateful to be able to offer them to you as a tool to help you guide your decisions, as you seek deeper meaning along your journey.

Spring 2012 is a kind of checkpoint along the way to wherever you are going. But really it’s a calling into the adventure of existence, a bold invitation to go beyond your past limits and explore something truly new about yourself.

Signs are now available individually for an amazingly low price, cheaper than the paper shopping bag costs at Jimmy Choo — order your reading here. The report is getting rave reviews from people who are currently working with it, including these words from a customer named Donna: “OMG — thank you thank you thank you — just spent this morning listening to my [Spring Report] info, and am so blown away by the accuracy (and relief!) in this experience. Thanks so very much for your part in supporting this work and for showing up in the way that you do!”. Here is the link to order.

Please drop us a note if you have any questions.

Lovingly,

Eric Francis

Virgo (Aug. 23- Sep. 22)

Virgo (Aug. 23-Sep. 22) — Take a moment and make two lists — one of your highest professional goals, and the second about what aspects of your current work situation actually bring you a sense of meaning and contribution to the world. These two lists, seen in contrast, will help you develop a picture of what you want to do, and remind you what you don’t want to do anymore. Sooner or later you have to shift the energy from the goals that no longer serve you to the ones that serve both you and something bigger, and this is the time to develop that emphasis. Then, create a vision of what your life would look like if you expressed your highest calling on a daily basis. Dynamic energy is building rapidly; a clear mental image will help you utilize this energy to manifest the work you desire. Any tension that develops is your inner guide clearing ideas that do not work. One theme to handle consciously is that of service. It’s easy for you to get drawn in, thinking the commitment is permanent. If your skills are called upon to help others in a way that does not directly facilitate your own objectives, consider this idea more in the context of helping someone move from point A to point B and less about an open-ended commitment or managing their actions. They are the steward of their own path and you are the steward of yours. When in doubt, remind yourself that. by Genevieve Hathaway.

Libra (Sep. 22 - Oct. 23)

Libra (Sep. 22-Oct. 23) — Your unconscious landscape has been a busy place the last few months. Much in the way of information was coming up through your emotional layers into conscious awareness. It may not seem like it adds up to much, but have you actually made the connections? As you connect the dots, you may discover that you’re onto a whole new central organizing principle for your life. It’s not the small details that are changing — rather it’s your philosophy on the highest and deepest levels. You’re developing a perspective that propagates whole living. You’re incorporating the viewpoints and attitudes that can only come from an authentic inner search.
Think of this as integrity. Contained within this concept is the idea of being whole and integrated. As you feel what it’s like to live this way, notice when guilt or fear comes to the surface. As a kid you received programing that essentially said the only way to be happy and feel like ‘you’ was to be completed by another person. By discarding this idea, your conditioned ego may resist with various scary thoughts. Recognize these negative feelings and thoughts as just that — not as deep truths. Then feel your way through to the other side, where you’ll meet an emotionally grounded and balanced version of yourself. by Genevieve Hathaway.

Scorpio (Oct. 23- Nov. 22)

Scorpio (Oct. 23-Nov. 22) — Part of being alive is living with the range of human emotions — jealousy, love, anger, happiness, fear and many others. Living as an aware, conscious individual means being your own guide when noticing (and if necessary) processing these emotions. That step alone means you’re not their victim. Discerning where they come from, owning them as your own and not projecting them onto other people is a solid step on the path to enlightenment. You’re currently straddling two emotional frameworks in regards to an important relationship. It may feel a bit like a seesaw poised perfectly with both sides balanced off the ground. In one direction is an opportunity to creatively advance a partnership for greater intimacy. The other direction involves misplaced anger. It helps a lot if you know that these are your options. The anger you’re experiencing may not feel right, which is a clue that it’s not based on an accurate assessment. If you observe yourself when you’re feeling anything of this nature, you may notice that the feelings pass without much effort on your part, leaving you in a place where love and acceptance are natural. by Genevieve Hathaway.

Sagittarius (Nov. 22 - Dec. 22)

Sagittarius (Nov. 22-Dec. 22) — Your Moon is in the sign of the eternal traveler. Freedom of movement is essential for you to feel happy and congruent with existence. This month, I suggest you consider how you can enter into structured relationships while still maintaining this feeling of freedom. One part of the solution involves less structure — or said another way, living more from day to day, without deciding how the future must be. This month you pass through a threshold. On one side is your old mode of partnership. On the other side, you may decide you feel more comfortable in a relationship model that allows for enough structure to meet your needs for closeness (summed up in the word ‘dependability’) while also giving both parties enough freedom to be individuals. The changes in your relationships reflect a significant internal change in your perspective. This has been developing for a long time; it’s just that you’re finally catching up with yourself now. Take the next step and imagine what your ideal relationship would feel like, and your life might change to embrace that person or people. Then, take the chance and actually live that way. You don’t need expectation — just a spirit of curiosity and experimentation. by Genevieve Hathaway.

Capricorn (Dec. 22- Jan. 20)

Capricorn (Dec. 22-Jan. 20) — Notice your daily habits and patterns. Do they keep your emotional well full, or do they drain you? You’re in the midst of a process that is changing the very fabric of your emotional structure — rooting out deep, unhealthy material going back generations, and making room for something much softer and friendlier. It’s like you’re passing through the dark labyrinth beneath an old Gothic cathedral, and are emerging into the clear light of day. As you open up space within yourself, you’ll transform that heavy building into an airy, open and useful structure. You may think this will involve taking apart the original building brick by brick, reshaping the pieces of stone and then rebuilding. But it’s really much easier. It starts with seeing the purpose of the structure in a new way. Treat your physical body like an extension of your emotional self. Eat well, sleep well, drink plenty of water, love yourself more and build a nurturing space to spend time in each day. Give yourself grace and forgiveness when you make a mistake or fall short of perfection. I suggest you find a way to incorporate beauty and art into your regular routine. Even if you don’t feel like an artist, this is more about you being nurtured and inspired by the process. by Genevieve Hathaway.

Aquarius (Jan. 20- Feb. 19)

Aquarius (Jan. 20-Feb. 19) — Over the next four weeks you will receive a lightning bolt of sexually charged energy. This has two dimensions — experimentation and healing. Let openness to all possibilities guide you. I suggest you quickly let go of past preferences and ideas about yourself and your sexuality. Instead, operate from the place of being a blank slate. Perhaps think of yourself as an erotic journalist, collecting information regarding what stokes your inner fire. Your pleasure angle has a distinctly mental component, so keep those erotic thoughts flowing from one to the next. Imbibing high-quality erotica can be helpful in this, though you have plenty of your own ideas and theories. By removing the constraints that held you back from enjoying your full sexual potential you will undergo a depth of emotional healing that may surprise you. What has held you back are the same feelings that hold everyone back — fear, shame, guilt. They have blocked you from engaging in all facets of your sexuality, and thus facets of your authentic self. As you meet these parts of yourself, notice what they contain, and what they imply. You will learn important information about who you are. Yet this isn’t all about learning or communication — sex is about having fun. by Genevieve Hathaway.

Pisces (Feb. 19- March 20)

Pisces (Feb. 19-March 20) — Living with such a permeable psychic body can be quite challenging at times. You encounter situations where you don’t know what stuff is yours and what belongs to others. This, in turn, can lead you to believe that you can change the conduct of others by changing yourself. Along these lines, you will be remembering some of what you try to forget in order to fit in better with those around you. For a while, living this way has helped you to feel better about yourself, though that was mostly because you fabricated the feeling of acceptance. While this isn’t real and can’t be maintained, fortunately there is an alternative: actual self-acceptance. You’re now breaking through from one to the other. I suggest you drop your guard and let the cracks in your façade open up, behind which you will meet your truth. This is the beginning of something truly special, which will lead you from one personal discovery to the next. What you are encountering is solid, grounded inner strength, the kind that can only come from being real. From that place, you will be able to set clear boundaries that allow you to treat who you are with respect, at the same time you treat others with sincere regard for their individuality.by Genevieve Hathaway.

Moonshine Horoscopes for May 2012 by Genevieve Hathaway

Aries (March 20-April 19)

Aries Moon. This month, I suggest you consider a new approach to the concept of anger. Part of what it means to be human is experiencing this emotion, and there are more and less constructive ways to do this. The sensation of anger is often defined as a feeling of tension and hostility caused by anxiety from a perceived threat to one’s self, possessions, rights, or values. ‘Perceived’ is the key word for you to focus on. There is no actual tangible threat that drives the feelings you’re currently navigating. Without a physical threat, action is not required in response to the intense, conflicted or hostile emotions that might be welling up inside you. Rather, these feelings of displeasure are signifiers of unresolved pain working itself to the surface. What you’re experiencing is meant to be felt rather than acted upon. As you let the anger burn off, notice what is left behind — clear, quiet space of mind and awareness of your emotional center. Operating from this place allows you to act from a position of no agenda other than authenticity. You will have a clear ‘yes’ and ‘no’; this will go a long way in helping you shape your life. — by Genevieve Hathaway

Taurus (April 19- May 20)

Taurus Moon. You’re currently living as if between two doorways. One you’ve just passed through; it had the distinct sensation of a disruption, but in fact was an expansion of consciousness. You became more sensitive and tuned in to the multifacted nature of existence. Another way to think of this concept is flexibility. Seeing the many options that can lead to the same desired outcome, and recognizing that a different outcome than envisioned can still move you in the correct direction. The second door, the door you are nearing, brings you in contact with the confidence that comes with successfully handling a variety of unexpected situations. Between these two doors, where you are currently hanging out this month, is a space of learning. Practice how to move with a number of rapidly changing situations you are facing. I suggest you view them less as an annoyance and more as a chance to experiment with your personal resources and your ability to apply them to achieve what in your mind is a positive, creative outcome. — by Genevieve Hathaway

Gemini (May 20- June 21)

Gemini Moon. As May unfolds, take time to unclutter your environment — both home and work space. Your subconscious is a pretty full place at the moment; plenty of that material is seeping into your conscious mind. Mercury, your sign’s ruler, is also hanging out there in your Moon’s 12th house, just beyond your conscious reach. All of this adds up to a feeling of difficulty orienting on your clarity. You’re good at working with this little issue of the world not always making sense, while you hold your own thought processes to a more systematic form. An organized environment will give you the sensation of structure and linear flow that your mental space may be lacking. What feels like a mixed-up mental environment will take shape into cohesive ideas. Notice as more images and ideas sieve through the permeable membrane between your unconscious and conscious self, coalescing into something that makes sense. Each piece of information that comes through will have two sets of data, one mental and one emotional. Take time to slip into these feelings; you will learn much information. Ultimately, this process is helping you integrate your two sides — the intellectual and the emotional. — by Genevieve Hathaway

Cancer (June 21- July 22)

Cancer Moon. Imagine how different the world would be if art, creativity, love and acceptance of diversity were valued over money, material resources and competition. Really — take a moment and imagine. We live in a world where might thinks it makes right, where it’s considered appropriate to hoard wealth. This is a form of mass deception, and those who partake in the lie don’t seem to be any happier for it. You are innately keyed in to how dysfunctional these ideas are, and the damage they do to most people’s self-esteem and experience of happiness. A world where we cared for one another would mesh better with your core values. As your personal identity meets the larger identity of your community, instead of melding into that established identity, stand apart from it. You’re an exemplar of a new set of ideals and aspirations centered around love, caring and acceptance. A sharp contrast will occur between the love and acceptance you embody and the lack of it you’re noticing in many around you. Yet those who have been searching for what you offer will gravitate to you. As this happens, gently weave your world into a community. — by Genevieve Hathaway

Leo (July 22- Aug. 23)

Leo Moon. In less than two weeks, the Sun and Moon meet in an eclipse in the area of your chart that covers your greatest hopes and dreams. Some of these surround your career aspirations, and your desire for what you want to accomplish on the planet. This event arrives with the experience of feeling like you’re actually living your calling rather than thinking about it. This calling takes the form of doing the work that resonates with your highest values and authentic self. Your emotional self is fully invested in the work that you do. As the feeling develops follow it and see where it leads. Take note of what you learn regarding the current work that you do. Let go of any sense of obligation to do work that is not your highest calling. Those you work with have an agenda, and before taking their advice as regards to your career, be clear about their motives. Once you decide on your course of action, gradually make adjustments in your daily routines, bringing them closer and closer to your goals. The feeling of meaning that comes with being in alignment with your soul’s calling is not only a place you get to live for just this month, it’s a place you can live permanently. The first step is to bring the intention. — by Genevieve Hathaway

Virgo (Aug. 23- Sep. 22)

Virgo Moon. Would you be willing to spend a whole day living and seeing the world from a radically different perspective? What would you gain from seeing the world through another viewpoint? Would it change your approach to life and your relationship to yourself? These questions take on new meaning this month as you get that chance to slip into not just one new outlook on the world, but many. Think of it like shopping for a new hat, only each hat changes how you perceive yourself, and everyone else. With each hat you try on, a different response resonates in your emotional body. Some hats elicit a thrill, others make you feel confident, others more relaxed, while still other hats come with no emotional connection. One or two stoke up new kinds of anxiety. As you try this diversity of perspectives, observe how you feel from inside that point of view. The sensations you experience will provide important clues on its alignment with your authentic self. Notice when you feel good about yourself — accumulate a number of these and soon you’ll be able to construct a new personal philosophy that centers around a strong sense of self-worth. — by Genevieve Hathaway

Libra (Sep. 22 - Oct. 23)

Libra Moon. In the past, you’ve been able to find a sense of security from your relationships with others. However, several recent experiences of seeming chaos in your close partnerships have begun to erode your ability to orient yourself exclusively on them. I suggest you see this as less of a problem in your partnerships and more of a shifting structure in your personal identity. As you change, what is an appropriate relationship changes. We know this, yet when we try to shift this, or when we have no choice, there still can be a feeling of daring. It is indeed brave to go beyond the idea that a relationship makes you complete, though at the moment you have little choice in the matter. This sensation is a clue you’re on the right track. As you re-orient on yourself and your deepest, most basic inner needs, you reconnect with your most important relationship — the one with yourself. Experiment with taking care of you, first and foremost. Notice once you do, you have that much more you to share with others. This will help you form or affirm bonds that are more fruitful than the structures that are falling away. There will be moments where what is left behind feels like a void, but in fact is a holding of space for people who can relate to who you truly are. — by Genevieve Hathaway

Scorpio (Oct. 23- Nov. 22)

Scorpio Moon. Your partnerships may feel like a precarious balancing act right now, as you seem to walk along a narrow emotional ledge. Or that is one way to describe the feeling — there are others. Try on this feeling as being on the brink of a breakthrough. Such a space can have the feeling of no turning back, and in truth you would do well to keep your focus and intention on where you are moving to rather than where you have been. Something that you survived in the past is coming up for healing. And it raises the question of what living an optimistic life looks like for you. Part of that is looking for the best in people instead of preparing for the worst, which manifests as jealousy and control. As you get clear about healing this material and releasing old habits, you will experience your relationships differently. There will be an expansion in your emotional connections, and this in turn will harmonize your emotional body, and those around you, to how good it feels to be real. One point of beginning is asking authentic questions — both of yourself and of people you care for. Then hold the space open for authentic answers. — by Genevieve Hathaway

Sagittarius (Nov. 22 - Dec. 22)

Sagittarius Moon. You are entering a period of rapid changes, which will both shake you up and spur your sense of adventure. A number of important partnerships will be evolving quickly. Fortunately, you’re developing a new viewpoint about all relationships. This new viewpoint has been building for a while; the place you are entering now is one of actualization. Reevaluate what is and is not working for you in your current situations. Be clear with yourself about both. There’s no need to be accusatory, or hopeful, or to push anything — merely know and feel and allow. Realizing what no longer works for you opens up space for you to experiment with new forms of relating. Based on the astrology, it’s clear that this process happens fast. You turn a corner and suddenly re-orient. After a point of re-orientation your relationship structure will flow with the change. For you there’s an almost instantaneous integration, yet those around you may not get a handle on the new you so quickly. Proceed thoughtfully when introducing your new ideas to your close partnerships. You may have to discuss these ideas a couple of times from a few different perspectives. Trust that a number of your closest relationships can make this re-orientation with you. In those situations, all that’s required is your holding space for the other person to adjust to where you both wish to go. — by Genevieve Hathaway

Capricorn (Dec. 22- Jan. 20)

Capricorn Moon. The past holds many valuable lessons, but more often than not it trips us up by shaping our behavior based on previous situations that do not hold true in the present. This is where growth comes in: it leads us down a path where past outcomes do not apply, and where the skills and lessons of the past have actual value. You are currently working through separating your patterns that keep drawing you back to a past-based view and building new patterns based on receptivity to a different present. This is happening in layers, and in phases. Thinking your way out of the past won’t fully re-orient you on a new present because the root lies in your emotional well-being, or said another way, how it feels for you to be in your body. Letting go of old grievances and wounds is a choice you can make with increasing commitment as this process moves forward, and this will help you break the outdated patterns in which you’ve been living. There may be a sense of risk in releasing this old pain, and a feeling of security in sticking with what you know, even if it is pain and hurt. Instead of slipping into that old pattern, acknowledge both where you want to move to and how far you have come. Intention will get you further than you may think possible. — by Genevieve Hathaway

Aquarius (Jan. 20- Feb. 19)

Aquarius Moon. Existence is comprised of seemingly competing ideas co-existing quite well. For you this is an easy concept to embody because you naturally don’t accept the either/or argument, and you can, if you want, hold open many possibilities at once. Your intuition points you at the multiplicity inherent in the universe, which in turn puts you in touch with your greater potential. You don’t accept other people’s perceived limitations on what is possible; they can have that job. This is the way the world naturally is for you, yet for many around you it is viewed as unrealistic. If that’s bugging you, get over it fast. What is real and possible for you is about to expand even further, and your most important resource will be your ability to perceive outcomes that are outside what anyone has ever considered. As each day passes, you’re connecting more deeply and more vividly with these new potentials. As you do, they become more tangible and accessible. You will know that you’re following your intuition by the feeling of rightness in your body. Not that you are ‘right’ and someone else is wrong, but a sense that you are aligned with what is so, and that you have a sense of value about the decision you are making. — by Genevieve Hathaway

Pisces (Feb. 19- March 20)

Pisces Moon. For the past few months, you’ve been working through a deep process of healing that is now entering a period of completion. The ideas addressed involved your father’s psychological and emotional bearing and how it negatively impacted you. He had apparent issues — perhaps depression, or alcoholism, or the sense of being a failure (as a man). But what was underneath these feelings? That’s what you’re discovering and gradually resolving. These concepts involved pain and anger caused by impatience and dismissal running through your paternal line. Acknowledging this material’s existence — and figuring out that it has no bearing on your value and worth — has opened parts of yourself that you shut down long ago to survive emotionally during your youth. As a small child, you may not even have realized you were closing off parts of yourself. Take your time reacquainting yourself with these inner regions. This may come with the sensation of disorientation as your emotional landscape shifts to incorporate these newly uncovered aspects, which have always been part of you. Slip back into them gently and claim them as your own. Let that sense of impatience and frustration gradually melt off and evaporate, leaving no residue. The stability and sense of belonging in your own skin that come as a result are the kind that’s built to last. — by Genevieve Hathaway

Moonshine Horoscope for April 2012

By Genevieve Hathaway

Note to Readers: This is our Moon sign horoscope by Genevieve, with additional editing by me. It’s written for your Moon sign, which you can look up in the ephemeris at Serennu.com, or by casting your chart at Astro.com. These interpretations are also viable for your Sun sign. — efc.

Aries (March 20-April 19)

Aries (March 20-April 19) — This month there is a call for you to sift through the complex layers of your emotions; moving through the layers of information contained in your body and your feelings to gain a new perspective on the themes you live with on a daily basis. A theme is a message to yourself; these govern your perspective, approach to choices, and motivations. Often much of this is inherited from parents, grandparents and back many generations, though at a certain point we have to take over. The current process you are moving through is one of questioning these themes you have been living and whether they serve you. The fundamental issue you are facing is a drive to heal what has continued to cause you emotional pain. Yours is a strong Moon that would rather wear its armor than sit in a therapist’s chair. But armor cannot offer you what you need. I suggest you not think of the vulnerability needed to heal as softness, a seemingly foreign concept for you that may feel hard to slip into. Instead, approach healing from a perspective of honesty, something you know a lot about. Sit with someone who can simply hold space and be with you. That means with no involvement in the story, no judgment and only minimal opinions. Feel what it’s like to be real in the presence of someone else, which can offer you a kind of confidence that’s difficult to get any other way. — By Genevieve Hathaway.

Hello Aries — Eric has just finished your birthday reading. This includes more than an hour of astrology and a tarot reading, recorded last weekend during the Sun-Uranus conjunction in your sign. My audio readings are motivational, inspiring and intimate. It comes with many features and access to last year’s reading too! Purchase here.

Taurus (April 19- May 20)

Taurus (April 19-May 20) — When you do what you love — what gives you pure pleasure or even a sense of authentic involvement with the world around you — it connects you with what some call your soul, or your higher self. This translates to ‘sense of belonging’. For you there’s a piece of healing that comes with being in line with what brings you the most joy. Or said another way, you restore your faith in yourself and in those around you when you make choices you know are nourishing. This calls for choosing priorities as a daily gesture to yourself, and sticking to them. Rather than viewing changes on this scale as a risk, view it as a re-orientation. Allow the people around you to support you in this process, rather than to get in your way (as we often expect they will). What brings you soul-based joy has a creative component. You have much to give back to the world in the form of what you introduce to your environment, emerging from directly inside of you. Don’t let anyone tell you otherwise. Your connection into your own inner source has a ripple effect, improving the vibration in your environment. This in turn ripples out into the larger world. Use this time of increased support and inner stability to make changes so that what satisfies your soul is a fixture in every aspect of your life. — By Genevieve Hathaway.

Gemini (May 20- June 21)

Gemini (May 20-June 21) — An engaged mind is essential to your happiness. I propose that you let the idea sink in that you can be as engaged by ‘spiritual’ exploration as you can by ‘earthly’ experience. What exactly is the difference? Well, the sense of meaning you bring to what you’re doing, and taking life as an opportunity to learn about yourself. You are under a lot of tension at the moment, as though you are being pulled between feelings and details. It’s the same quest — an investigation into knowledge of your deep-rooted values and core self — just two different modes of exploration. One question you’re encountering is what information was kept from you, or that you did not see, which caused not just emotional wounding but also an exaggerated sense of inner complexity. Going beyond this means getting out of your head and seeing the world around you, or the larger pattern of your life as you actually live it. You may feel this will require methodical observation and analysis, but that’s the trap. That kind of mental labor can get in the way of living consciously, which means observing yourself as you exist in your environment. They’re not mutually exclusive, though it would help if you work them in tandem as you go to deeper layers of self-understanding. Allow your experiences to reveal your motivations and point to how you got them. You’ll make many discoveries as you learn to do this. I’m talking about a conscious nvestigation, in real-time. Through this, you’ll be able to discern what you were taught and what you learned on your own; you will notice what you’ve outgrown and what is outdated. Along the way, you’ll re-write the rules and values you live by. — By Genevieve Hathaway.

Cancer (June 21- July 22)

Cancer (June 21-July 22) — To fully embrace life on the physical plane we must recognize and accept what we’ve experienced and how we’ve lived — even the parts we would like to forget. Healing means going through the pain and discomfort and arriving somewhere else. It means accepting that we can’t change the past, but we can reinterpret it — and we can live differently in the present. Once there, it’s possible to meet the concept of ‘the future’ with an open heart and mind. This month you may face many stories or events from your past that involve partners or partnerships you would like to forget. New details will come to light that reveal information that was kept from you or that you did not consciously recognize. These events still play a part in who you are today. But you have a choice. You can grow from these past events to a better place, taking the lessons with you, or you can sweep them under the rug and try to pretend they never happened. Any doubt you have of your ability to acknowledge and grow beyond these events is unfounded. You are strong enough to face them and acknowledge how they affected you, yet not let them dictate your life going forward. Part of what this process is reminding you to do is to claim your space. You have the right to exist, never doubt that. And not just exist, but to flourish and feel secure. Security is an elusive concept these days, that’s for sure. One way you can build a foundation is to acknowledge what has shaped you, knowing that you have the power to use those influences any way you want. — By Genevieve Hathaway.

Leo (July 22- Aug. 23)

Leo (July 22-Aug. 23) — Self-esteem is a significant challenge in our time in history, perhaps because so much seems demanded of us. I suggest that you not see this seemingly elusive state as either present or absent, but as something you always live in to a greater or lesser extent. Now would be a good time to size up how much or how little, as Mars retrograde ends very close to your Moon. This is focusing a process of self-discovery, where you’re noticing what is the most important to you. The question is, are you able to take action on this very thing? You might say that the ability to live your values consciously is precisely what would help you feel good about yourself. Take confidence from the fact that you are asking the most important questions, and don’t let the fact that you don’t have all the answers bring you down. Nobody has all the answers, and an honest person can live with questions. Meanwhile you have the freedom to love boldly and honestly — to love yourself and those around you and have this be a fully appropriate state of being. Once you make up your mind that guilt will not prevent you from loving, it gradually loses its power and influence. From there you will find your confidence. When you feel strong and secure, you will tap a well of happiness and emotional harmony. The chances are this will take longer than a day, which means cultivating patience as a way of life. — By Genevieve Hathaway.

Introducing the Planet Waves 2012 Spring Report by Eric Francis

Spring 2012 is the wildest season I’ve ever seen in 18 years of doing around-the-clock astrology [listen to short audio preview here]. It fits the 2012 pattern of ‘everything, all at once’, even making that sound like an understatement. I am working on the report even as we edit this issue, and it’s coming out beautifully — every sign is coming through loud and clear and distinctive.

Planet Waves

We have retrogrades of all three inner planets involved — Mercury, Venus and Mars. There is a rare Venus transit of the Sun — an exact conjunction of Venus and the Sun that you will be able to see if you have a clear view during daylight hours (you will need special equipment to protect your eyes). There are eclipses of the Sun and the Moon. And then, just four days after the Cancer solstice, we have the first exact square of Uranus and Pluto.

In honor of putting all this action to work for you, I’m preparing a special Spring Report for all 12 Sun signs and rising signs, as well as an introduction to the astrology that will be useful to everyone. This is a package of all 12 signs for one price. I’m designing it so that you can actually put many of the signs into use — for example, Virgo will be able to use the Gemini report as a career reading. Pisces can use Virgo’s report as a relationship reading, and so on. I give suggestions at the end of each sign, and will do a detailed description so you can get maximum use from this product.

All 12 signs are now available for $24.95. The report is getting rave reviews from people who pre-ordered, including these words from a customer named Donna: “OMG — thank you thank you thank you — just spent this morning listening to my [Spring Report] info, and am so blown away by the accuracy (and relief!) in this experience. Thanks so very much for your part in supporting this work and for showing up in the way that you do!”. Here is the link to order. Thank you, and enjoy.

Virgo (Aug. 23- Sep. 22)

Virgo (Aug. 23-Sep. 22) — Those around you may appear not to be acting in a way that makes sense to you, or progressing quickly enough for your taste. But it seems that you feel able to quickly solve your perceived problems with your usual efficiency and thoroughness. I would suggest that those around you may not be lacking and imperfect. Rather, they have a different approach to finding solutions and making their discoveries. You tend to attract people who listen to their intuition and let details become apparent over time and a solution to appear of its own accord. For you, who focus so much on the fine points, this method may seem very foreign or disorienting. You have an opportunity this month, no matter how uncomfortable it feels, to spend time in this other perspective. Details are important, but can’t provide an entire picture of the landscape. Your method is like watching a movie by studying each individual frame, rather than following the direction of the events. Intuition is about letting go into the flow, which is another way of saying trusting what you observe and experience as it happens. This will take a little extra trust, but you can indeed move with the flow of events, even if you cannot predict which way they will go. This will provide you with a greater appreciation for the partners in your life who approach problems from a technique that is different from the one you most often chose. You may learn enough to discover a valuable tool not just for solving problems but for guiding your life the way you want it to be. — By Genevieve Hathaway.

Libra (Sep. 22 - Oct. 23)

Libra (Sep. 22-Oct. 23) — One of the keys to growth is recognizing the patterns of your life. These often emerge from this place that psychologists call ‘the unconscious’. Note that it is not unconscious — we are, and as the clues and messages emerge, you can see the patterns of how you think. There is indeed a method, a formula, which may not have been apparent to you before. This gap in information has affected your life story even if you didn’t know it. Often this material is hard to grasp and orient on. Yet at the moment, it’s speaking in its full voice, if you would recognize it. Your dreams make more sense than you might think. What instills fear has root causes you can begin to discern, and that information will help you make better choices. Eventually what seemed like a mist begins to dissipate, and then swells up again before you can fully see what was hidden there. Instead of trying to force your way into your subconscious through a door with no handle, go in through the windows I’ve been describing. They are open and large enough to let the light in, and anything you learn is yours to use. You will know you’re using this information when you notice that you’re making different decisions, and also making your choices using different methods and more functional logic. A sign of progress is when you know that fear is only one influence among many — not the dominant one. — By Genevieve Hathaway.

Scorpio (Oct. 23- Nov. 22)

Scorpio (Oct. 23-Nov. 22) — You have many assets that will make the world a better place, and now is the time to get clear about what they are. What you offer is authentically yours, and that’s how you discover what you’re made of. You will feel richer inside for having shared yourself with others, and they are richer for your having done so. If doing this feels slightly risky or dangerous, note that feeling and keep going. You are in the process of healing any sense of guilt or shame that may have developed long ago from someone invalidating and devaluing your talents. Yet this may not seem like guilt in the way we normally think of it; for example you may experience it as the fear of criticism, or the sense that others don’t like you. What you think others think will provide you with a map of your own consciousness. What you think they want for you will tell you what you want for yourself — and if you don’t like what you learn, make a decision. It’s true that life can seem like a long story of others trying to deter you from being yourself, and to some extent this is true. But changing that fact does not involve changing them; it involves changing yourself. When you guide yourself through any feeling of danger, what you will be left with is a sense of rightness with yourself. You will feel at home with who you are and what you are doing because you are actually offering something authentic, something that actually represents you. By your gifts you will know yourself. — By Genevieve Hathaway.

Sagittarius (Nov. 22 - Dec. 22)

Sagittarius (Nov. 22-Dec. 22) — When we are young we are like a sponge, soaking up our surroundings and taking what is said and done literally. A snide comment or piece of sarcasm can negatively impact our developing psyche. Most adults don’t appreciate and honor the great impact words and actions have on children. The process of ego formation when we’re young is complex and delicate. A healthy ego, which means a functioning personality, is important for you to feel sane and emotionally grounded. Much that we absorb in childhood affects us through most of our adult life — and few people ever address this fact. Lately you have no choice, which may be distinguishing you from many people around you. You notice them running in circles; you notice that they cannot deal with authority in a healthy way. One of your current projects is addressing the pain caused by your dominant parent or childhood authority figure. It stems less from outright neglect and more from denied or withheld information, which in turn blocked you from admitting some of your more meaningful goals. You are learning the lengths to which people will go to get what they want, no matter what the effects on others. Just imagine how this attitude in people you respected influenced you as a kid. Through this recognition and regaining information you are filling in gaps in your life where it seemed a mystery how you developed into the person you became. If you feel resentment or anger, you’re on the right path. Each time you do, notice the sensation, and replace it with a tangible goal or objective that is all your own. — By Genevieve Hathaway.

Capricorn (Dec. 22- Jan. 20)

Capricorn (Dec. 22-Jan. 20) — As April unfolds, I suggest you get clear on what happiness means to you. As you do this you may be amazed that you haven’t consciously thought about it before — or at how long it’s been since you did. Let it be your guiding philosophy, that is, a perspective that helps you govern decisions that you make. Much of how we do this as adults is rooted in the approach our parents took, and growing into an independent person means taking steps beyond their ideas into your own. There is a special challenge, however: recognizing their hidden patterns. It’s difficult to see the patterns that are the most influential and are the most deeply ingrained in the next generation. These are often incongruent with your own mission in life, though the conflict is typically hidden. To find it, you’ll need to sift through the layers and determine what is truly your philosophy versus what was given to you by others. The challenge is that the two viewpoints may feel tightly interwoven. It’s your job to tease them apart. That will feel like a process of saying “this belongs to you, and this belongs to me.” There is just one little barb: learning to feel good about discarding the ideas that don’t work, rather than like you’re obligated to use them (no matter where they come from). — By Genevieve Hathaway.

Aquarius (Jan. 20- Feb. 19)

Aquarius (Jan. 20-Feb. 19) — You may be living with the feeling that there is a gap you have to leap to be accepted by those around you. In fact, it’s more of a crack you can step over than a canyon you have to vault Evel Knievel-style. There’s more support around you than it may feel like. Yours is a Moon that wants to be accepted for your uniqueness. You’re not merely a rebel: you’re original and you want to coexist with others as such. But this will only happen if you honestly and authentically show yourself to each person you meet. Any stress or uncertainty you feel around doing so is like an invitation to go past those feelings. To be 100% you in every moment is risky, that is true. Hence the fear of not being accepted is natural enough, and that is enough to scare plenty of people from being real. The problem is that facades may feel like walls that protect us from rejection, but they end up being like jail cells, locking us inside ourselves and away from the contact that we seek. Being authentic means showing your true colors, not showing just those that are ‘safe’ in that moment. Meet the feeling of risk or danger head-on and see what happens. The only way out of this conceptual prison is through an actual experiment, in real life (rather than in theory). This means making mistakes — but you may be pleasantly surprised how little most of them matter.

Pisces (Feb. 19- March 20)

Pisces (Feb. 19-March 20) — Your inner world is a bedroom, and most people are not invited in. Yet this is the world you live in every day. Deeper inside that is your closet, and only you know what’s in there. When you open your closet door, it’s like the armoire in the Narnia series: you step into another dimension that is more detailed and complex than your ‘normal’ reality. You think this is normal because you live with it all the time; yet many people around you just have a closet that opens to a small space filled with racks of clothes, shoes and accessories. Part of having this kind of depth means having a special kind of vulnerability. Through the next few weeks, you will have a particularly keen ability to help those around you access the depths and complexities of their inner space by translating your own into terms they can understand. You will do this based on the tactile, tangible reality most people live in. You have many tools in the form of language to share this. This will call for a mix of precision in what you say, and at the same time allowing for misunderstanding as others try to get clear. Clarify the grey areas in your own thinking, and know what you’re saying and feeling as you guide others. Don’t skip steps or leave out what you know is vital information — that could lead to unexpected consequences or miscommunication. You are explaining something that for you makes sense, but which for others is going to require them to stretch their understanding of existence. Proceed in small, concrete steps and you’ll make significant progress in growing closer to those you care the most about. — By Genevieve Hathaway.
