Assorted versions of political and spiritual wisdom usually teach that it’s better to care, and important not to be a hypocrite. I bid you consider the proposition that for you, a vital lesson on the road to holiness is notgiving a shit, and learning how to pull double standards, or engage in what I would call soulful hypocrisy. Caring too much is unhealthy, and is often a form of deep distrust in the universe. It can be a futile exercise in control, and the result of other people either dumping responsibility onto you, or their playing helpless when they know you’ve got a social conscience and will take on any spare burdens that are lying around. As for soulful hypocrisy: that would sound like you saying, “That’s your job/problem/issue, not mine,” or “I don’t really care about this, but it looks pretty important to you, so you better do something about it.” Then there’s the small matter of you green-blooded vegetarians who would love to eat a big prime rib: make it a juicy one. Or you nonsmokers who would love a tasty Dominican cigar every now and again. They go well with scotch. And as for all you pure-bred monogamists who are craving a sweet romp with your best friend? Be glad you’re alive, and act accordingly.

In 2020 we have not one but two conjunctions that mark the turn of a generation, and of an era in history. On Jan. 12, Saturn and Pluto in Capricorn form their once per 33-year conjunction. Then on Dec. 21. 2020, Jupiter and Saturn, both now in Aquarius, form a conjunction in the first degree of that sign. Read more here…

Ideas you offer this year can have greater impact than you realize. Educational pursuits and achievement have been ongoing themes for a while, and you’ve reached a stage where you might serve in a teaching or nurturing capacity to others in some way. You’re approaching a major breakthrough, so stay on course. Let any emotional challenges or frustrations you may encounter be as dust in the wind. You have too much to gain and too much to give. Through much of the day Sunday, Cancer Moon will square Mars (in late Libra). Mars is not at home in Libra, and this aspect from the Moon may feel irritating and cause highly charged reactions. This is a typical anger aspect; a diplomatic response, and letting the matter pass, would work better.

Be mindful of your responses to provoking situations. That said, this aspect is most useful for making positive changes for your health and wellbeing. Listening to your physical sensations and your instincts could yield helpful solutions.

The Moon will then enter Leo Sunday at about 4:57 pm ET (21:56:55 UTC) and make a square to Uranus (in early Taurus). This is a wakeup aspect, likely to have an effect more on the innovative and inspiring side; perhaps you’ll feel motivated to take up some slack, or try a new approach to an old problem.

Both aspects presage the forthcoming Mars-Uranus opposition, which takes place in one week’s time. Contacts between Mars and Uranus are often volatile, reflecting the jumpy nature of these two planets.

The Moon’s involvement today offers a potentially valuable insight into the benefits of playing with what might feel edgy or even annoying. This could highlight unresolved matters swimming beneath the surface, and bring them out. If you can engage with this material, it may enable you to work constructively with what are often difficult and discomfiting emotions.

Today’s Oracle takes us to the Scorpio monthly for December 12, 2005.

Months of inner searching, patience and indecision have left you with the urge to sort yourself out once and for all — but I suggest you give yourself well into the middle of the month to do so. Though you’re feeling a lot better than just a few weeks ago, if you push a certain rather tense situation with an individual close to you, you’re taking a greater risk than you realize — and an unnecessary one. You’ve so far avoided many temptations, or been saved by luck when you failed to do so. Now, make your own luck and wait for the right moment to initiate the change you so dearly need.

You’re on a path of knowledge, and your emotional compass is your best guide along that road. Part of this process involves gaining perspective on aspects of your past, and becoming conscious of limiting concepts that have held you back. This is your dharma in the coming year, and a profoundly creative, healing process. You’re on a quest: the goal is nothing less than liberation from a worldview that no longer fits who you’ve become.

Under today’s emotionally tuned Cancer Moon, you may be particularly sensitive to the strengthening radiations of multiple cycles that culminate over the coming days and weeks. Mars will soon enter its watery home of Scorpio, as Mercury prepares to station direct. Jupiter will wrap up its year-long sojourn through its home sign of Sagittarius, to magnify the mounting pressure of Saturn’s tightening conjunction with Pluto in Capricorn. Change is in the air.

As the lunar cycle winds down, today is an especially good time to nurture yourself, take care of personal needs that bolster moods, and strengthen your sense of emotional security. Hearts are tender yet open during the first part of the day, and some form of sharing, caring or communication with those you love can be a balm for the soul. It’s a fine time to dig into creative or domestic projects, if you’re feeling more private than social. As night falls on the East Coast, the sweet and protective Cancer vibes lock into the weighty presence in its opposite sign of Capricorn, which can exacerbate feelings of vulnerability. Remember that the Moon’s influence is powerful but temporary, and tend to your inner child.

You can tap into channels of higher wisdom this year, and what you perceive may expand your world-view in ways that help focus your visions for the future. Focus on where you want to go and why, and question beliefs that feed oppressive thought patterns. You’re gearing up for a powerful cycle of dynamic action, and integrating emotional and spiritual insights within your reach will clear that path. Gather clues, pay attention to dreams and seek worthy teachers. Inspiration is knocking on your inner door: let it in.

With the astrological focus already emphasizing Capricorn, Ceres entering that sign today draws additional notice in that direction. Ceres is a representation of Earth Goddess, and is right at home in Capricorn.

During the next few weeks, Venus will follow her into Capricorn, and then Jupiter, at which point the sign of the goat will basically resemble a crowd in an elevator — hopefully a large one. The big event in Capricorn is, of course, the history-altering Saturn-Pluto conjunction, which includes Ceres. With Ceres, you might say that “food is the bottom line for everyone.”

The ingress of Ceres into Capricorn may specifically shed light on your relationship to a nurturing role, regardless of whether your own children are involved. Capricorn has deep family symbolism; family is a foundation of society as we know it, and has come under tough times, fragmented like the rest of society.

Ceres is showing up with food and a quart of fresh, unpasteurized milk, and is a balm for the sometimes chilly and impersonal nature of Capricorn. You might think about how you foster an atmosphere of nourishment and humanity within your various relationships, wherever they may be. You might treat your workplace a little more like home, and your coworkers a little more like your cousins.

Notably, Ceres is a representative of the under-represented. In truth, that is most of us. Unlike Juno, where the focus could be on one’s “rights,” Ceres is an invitation to participate, which means to give what you have to offer. So for example, bring a fruit basket into the office, and the spirit of nourishment that goes with it.

When you were a child, simple and unstructured playtime did more for you than you could have possibly known at the time. That’s especially true regarding play with others of your own age. Now it may be time for a refresher course more consciously taken. It’s not so much that all your hard work lately could use a little complementary balance (although that’s part of the picture). It’s just that new connections to a wider community of similarly inclined people will more likely be established outside of your usual environs of service and work, rather than within them. — by Len Wallick.

Scorpios are not easily fooled. You’re hard-wired to perceive beneath the surface and feel emotional undercurrents that pass right by less canny observers. Let this instinctual wisdom work for you over the coming year. Your birthday chart indicates a potential for wishful thinking or clouded perception, so keep your eyes open, especially when entering into financial or romantic involvements. Lead with integrity and build your self-worth and security on solid foundations. You can harness these same influences to further creative projects to great effect.

The Gemini Moon opposes Venus in Sagittarius and squares Neptune in Pisces this morning, setting the tone for the exact square between Venus and Neptune at around noon, Eastern Time. The day has a ‘busy mind, restless heart’ quality. You’re ready for adventure, to break away from heavy emotional histories or responsibilities. Imaginative faculties are extremely strong under this influence, and creative, romantic and spiritual inspiration flows freely. You’ll need to reach in deep, however, to find the discipline necessary to follow through on ideas that arise, to make use of it.

Venus in Sag square Neptune in Pisces imbues the day with a sense of visionary idealism, from which we can draw uplifting sustenance for the soul. Do note that while it’s possible to tap into these good-feeling vibes without jumping into risky propositions, urges toward extravagance or escapism may be quite seductive. Temper impulses to gamble — whether with your money or your affections. Give time and scrutiny to investments and relationships on your radar now. Those worth your while will be easier to identify as the weeks unfold. This evening’s series of lunar aspects to Pluto in Capricorn, and the Scorpio Sun, describes a scratchy need for adjustment as you come down to earth.
