Repetition can get old fast, especially for you, especially now. Therefore, where repetition is necessary, look to make it also refreshing — such as is (or should be) the case with bathing. On the other hand, any forms of recurrence or recitation that do not also confer a sense of renewal deserve the patient, yet judicious, scrutiny that you are especially gifted at conducting. Purging in any form should not be a hasty matter, for once tossed is often lost. Even so, any form of reiteration that has not, in a long time, provided you with a return on the time and energy you are investing is probably not worth persisting with. Therefore seek to find a middle way between recklessly abandoning routine and reflexively attaching to it. Remember that the idea is to continuously improve the quality of your life. So ask yourself whether discarding a particular practice will, in fact, achieve that end.

Planet Waves Weekly Horoscope — Dec. 10, 2015, #1079 | By Len Wallick

While spring cleaning is not exactly near at hand, there may be other ways in which you can make a fresh start in the places you feel most at home. If you live alone, begin thinking about the extent to which you would be willing to share your personal space with an additional life. If a roommate or domestic partner is either not on your radar or not in the cards, you might want to at least consider adding a cactus or even a goldfish to open up some additional interaction, which could ultimately broaden your own life. If you share a residence with others, this would be a good time to reconsider your boundaries with them to encourage greater camaraderie and foster improved cooperation. It’s not as though there is any need for you to stir things up; that would only muddy the waters. Rather, look to loosen things up so as to smooth the waters.

Planet Waves Weekly Horoscope — Dec. 3, 2015, #1078 | By Len Wallick

Almost by definition, you have an earthy nature that should not (and ultimately cannot) be denied. You also have an inherently open mind. The combination gives you a greater proficiency than most for exploring the full range of your potential for sexual satisfaction. Paradoxically, your innate contact with the fecund Earth can often result in an over-emphasis on propriety. Similarly, your supple intellect is entirely capable of over-thinking. You may have also run into some trouble with inhibitions lately. Fortunately, however, the remainder of this year should be prime time to get your groove back. If you already have an established intimate relationship, ask about pushing the envelope a bit to liven things up. If you are without a sexual partner right now, try being a bit more risqué with yourself.

Planet Waves Monthly Horoscope — December 2015, #1077 | By Eric Francis

It’s not always easy to ensure that people see you as who you are, not who they think you are. Yet it’s just as challenging to see yourself as who you are and not who people want you to be. Part of what you’re doing now is learning the nature of that boundary. That will involve asking questions about the choices you make and the positions you take. You’re slowly being prodded and nudged out of automatic mode. You know you’re getting there when you start hearing the things you say, and evaluating your choices against what you know your deeper values are. Yet there’s a really interesting quality to your environment, which is likely to be a collection of truly unusual people, people with whom you don’t have much in common. The question is, how do you treat someone who comes off as an original, odd or out-of-place character? What’s your expectation that others should blend in with the scenery? There is a mirror effect going on; your perception of your environment will tell you a lot about how you perceive yourself. The main question is, how concerned are you about fitting in? What are you willing to do in order to seem like you fit in, and why does that matter? There may be excellent answers to those queries, if you ask them well.

Weekly Horoscope for Thursday, Nov. 19, 2015, #1076 | By Len Wallick

If by chance while examining yourself you bump into some characteristics of those you have criticized most harshly, don’t be dismayed. It will not mean you have stubbed your toe on an obstruction in the dark. It will mean you have made valuable contact with an enlightening truth. If you can bring yourself to dare yet another step and accept in yourself what you have summarily rejected in others, it will also mean you have made remarkable progress in your personal evolution. If, as result, you find that you have been taking a hard line with the wrong people, don’t feel guilty. The right people to have in your life will always forgive you, no matter how long you have estranged yourself from them. Finally, if there are those you have avoided confronting because you are intimidated by either their dominance in your life or the consequences of following through, you might want to reconsider your reticence while you still have time to take meaningful action.

Weekly Horoscope for Thursday, Nov. 12, 2015, #1075 | By Len Wallick

Every new generation tends to distinguish itself in a paradoxical way by refusing to conform with their elders, while at the same time hastening to conform with each other. While such behavior is contradictory on the surface, it makes a lot of sense from an evolutionary perspective. Dispensing with the ways and means of those who have gone before enhances the ability to adapt to a changing world. Also, creating and conforming to new standards and ideals fosters community and lays the groundwork for cooperation. It appears that you have reached a point where you may not only be seen as but also justified in being just as paradoxical as a rebellious youth. Only this time it’s not a generational thing. Now it’s seems to be a matter of distinguishing your soul. It would be great, but not absolutely necessary, to find an authentic soul mate so as to have some community and support. In the final analysis, however, this is a very personal form of evolution, which both begins and ends in your most private spaces.

Weekly Horoscope for Thursday, Nov. 5, 2015, #1074 | By Len Wallick

Just look at you — and in the best light possible. Are you even half as impressed with yourself as some observant and knowledgeable others surely must be? Can you allow yourself to be just a little proud of what you have become since this time last year? You need not worry about a little bit of pride bringing on a fall. Rather, be concerned with not appreciating yourself enough. In order to give yourself something other than criticism while constantly reinforcing a personal awareness of your own evolution, consider bringing your personal environment up to date. Surround yourself with reminders of who and what you are now. Display emblems of where you have recently been, and what you have recently achieved. This is not about showing off; it’s about showing yourself in.

Marie Claire Horoscope for November 2015, #1073 | By Eric Francis

Virgo is one of the deep-thinking signs of the zodiac, and this month you are at your brightest. You’ll be able to solve any problem you put your mind to, as if some extra burst of knowledge has been given to you. Yet the truly magic ingredient is that you’re willing to dare. You’re willing to do something rare and actually use your mind.

Planet Waves Monthly Horoscope for November 2015, #1072 | By Eric Francis

You are learning how to get out of your own way. This is a lifelong theme for you, though recent developments have made this a necessity rather than some kind of luxury. Virgos are the experts at outsmarting themselves. That’s the first of many seeming skills that you will get to dismantle on the way to accessing your true purpose and gift. Another is the thing about trying to convince yourself of something, such as whether it’s true or false. You could more easily do an assessment, review the facts and make a decision based on what you actually observe. A third thing is the concept that you are less than anything or anyone. That’s something that seems to prove itself, though that’s why you really need to subject it to some scrutiny. Now, as for what is actually true — it’s very likely that at your core, you live to be in service. That can work against you. It will, unless you choose consciously to make it work for you — which directly implies a kind of plus-plus symbiosis with your environment. Getting out of your own way is about seeing the relationships you have with others. Mostly it’s about understanding that you exist both as an independent entity and also as one who is interdependent with others around you. That is a fact of existence, and it’s beyond reproach. Put it to good use.

Weekly Horoscope for Thursday, Oct. 15, 2015 #1071 | By Eric Francis

You know more than you think, and your knowledge is worth more than you believe. This all speaks to your wider, deeper and indeed versatile potential. However, Mars in your sign may be provoking some self-judgment or anger at the way things are, or how they were not in the past. It’s essential that you not take your anger out on yourself. Make sure you have enough physical, sexual and creative activity to convert that energy into something more productive, though denying your anger is not going to help. If you’re feeling guilt, shame or embarrassment in any form, you can be sure that you’re pointing your anger inward. Sort that out first. Your mental environment is such that things will feel exaggerated, magnified and even potentially distorted. You cannot correct every warp, though you can do yourself a great favor by staying tuned in to your purpose. Do whatever you must do to come back to your core mission. If you don’t feel that strongly, go back to whatever you’re doing that is connected to purpose and knowledge and, most of all, service. If you feel a little resistance, count that as a sign you’re doing the right thing.

Weekly Horoscope for Thursday, Oct. 8, 2015 #1070 | By Eric Francis

It’s not as complicated as it seems. You just need to sort out your feelings. Don’t dance around the main point, which seems to be anger. There’s a reason people are afraid of anger, which is that it contains power. I suggest you start by not meeting anger with fear and instead listen to what it’s telling you. If there’s something about being angry at women, or a specific woman (your mother, or someone else in a position of authority, whether now or in the past), be real about that with yourself. It will not help you at all to deny your emotions, or to take them out on yourself; you’ll only weaken yourself. The question is what to do with your feelings, and I would suggest that acknowledging them and the influence they’ve had over you is plenty. You may, however, notice that you’re making decisions from a different point of view. You might even pause for a few days and decide what you really want to do. Remember to write your agenda in pencil or on a chalkboard; it’s subject to change.

Weekly Horoscope for Thursday, Oct. 1, 2015 #1069 | By Eric Francis

You now have the motivation to act positively on something you recently learned. By learning, I really mean that something you long suspected turned out to be true, in a way that affirms your life and its worth. Now that you’re sure about that, you seem to see the wisdom or the inevitability of acting on what you know. I would remind you of all the times you didn’t do that; of all the times you said you should have known when what you meant was that you actually knew. I would add one other thing — you don’t need to rely on others for certainty, and you never really can. All you can do is be aware of the most thorough information you have, confirmed by intuition, and not let all those other Earthlings confuse you with their wishful thinking, their delusions or their pessimism. Not only do I suggest you act on what you know, but that you account for all of what you know, and make sure that everything is factored in. There’s plenty, too.

Planet Waves Monthly Horoscope for October 2015 #1068 | By Eric Francis

Jupiter is now in your sign — joined by Venus and Mars. You have every reason to feel good about yourself, though it would seem that in recent weeks you’ve either had your doubts, or you’ve committed to letting go of them. What exactly is this about? One thing to keep an eye on is your concern about others disrupting your life, or the power of their personality dominating you. This can have a way of making you feel like less than who and what you are, which in turn can have a way of making you doubt yourself or your value in someone’s eyes. Here is the thing: the force of others’ personalities will be an increasing factor in your life for the foreseeable future. You will need to respond consciously — and you have options. The most important one is to learn how to engage people who intimidate you in conversation. I recognize that society is being swallowed by utter panic at the mere thought of going off-script, though this is an art you must master. Once you get good at engaging these high-energy personalities in a dialog, they will cease to be scary. The other bit is being comfortable with people who express desire for you. You have many options for how to respond; though among them, fear is neither useful, helpful nor empowering. Many better choices exist.

Weekly Horoscope for Thursday, Sept. 17, 2015 #1067 | By Eric Francis

Don’t be distracted by any anxiety you might feel, especially over financial matters. Rather, get the information you need, and focus on keeping yourself motivated. You may make some discoveries over the next few weeks about how you can better allocate your personal resources, whether they involve money or talent. Any time you see something that seems wrinkled, iron it out and look for ideas in the patterns you observe. Yet if you’re looking for the key to success, here is what I would propose: The time has come to act wholly in accord with your values. You’re likely to be pushed and, in a sense, tested on this matter — the one about whether you actually agree with what you say and what you do. Most people are so accustomed to compromising their values that the notion of acting only in accord with themselves is nerve-wracking and might even seem impossible. It will help if you take some time and make a careful note of who and what you actually support, who and what you have faith in, and what, exactly, matters the most. Then, what to do will be obvious.

Weekly Horoscope for Thursday, Sept. 10, 2015 #1066 | By Eric Francis

Your relationships exist because you exist. It is therefore a physical — and you might say metaphysical — impossibility to put your relationships before yourself. You are what’s doing the relating; your presence is what constitutes the existence of a relationship to anyone to whom you’re connected. Therefore, I suggest you pay attention and strive above all to feel your own presence in the world. It may seem ridiculous to suggest that anyone would face a question about whether they exist. Perhaps, though one would then have to account for all the people who act like they’re not really there; who act like they’re not present in their own life. The solar eclipse in your sign on Sept. 13 is calling on you to stand fully in your own world, your senses, your choices and most of all your potential. Claim the power of decision for yourself, and recognize that anything you’ve chosen in the past, you can choose again for it to have substance and validity from one day to the next. That same idea suggests you can in fact opt out of whatever you want to.

Weekly Horoscope for Thursday, Sept. 3, 2015 #1065 | By Eric Francis

This is your birthday season, and the Sun in your sign is joined by Jupiter — the planet of promise and potential, which shows up every 12 years. You may well be asking yourself what is possible. You may be asking yourself what you’re capable of. Or, you may be wondering what’s going to come to you; when your ship is going to come in. A year is short, and it would be better if you learn the message of Jupiter sooner rather than later: take initiative. Then, be patient as you assemble the pieces of your dream. Remember that anything going from concept (or fantasy) into physical reality will require some translation, and it won’t necessarily manifest as you were envisioning it. That’s enough to deter most people from persisting in creating something for themselves; don’t let it deter you. Engage your curiosity about what will manifest. Allow for what you have not planned or envisioned. Let your process take unusual turns; and most of all, don’t bother yourself with what anyone else may think. If there is one necessary step on the way to tapping your real creativity, that’s the one.

Monthly Horoscope for Sept. 2015, #1064 | By Eric Francis

What does it mean to truly embrace another person? That question could also translate to: what does it mean to be fully in the world, rather than observing or allowing it to act on you? You may have noticed a tendency that humans have, which is to cut themselves off from their surroundings, including physical places, people, the weather, how a room smells, or the sounds coming in through the window. Jupiter in your birth sign means that you will be far more sensitive to your environment; in a sense it describes you merging with everything you see, touch and become aware of. As this happens, you will feel numb places come back to life. You will ‘re-member’ in the sense of reattaching what you may have cut off, and allowing certain facts to percolate out of your memory and into full awareness. Given the prevailing chaos of the world, and the extent of the struggles that so many are facing, you might well question whether that’s the best approach to life. But there’s a bigger question, which is: can you do anything else, and still count yourself as alive? You came here to be involved with this dimension of reality: to allow it to change you, and for you to change it. You now have many new opportunities to do that in the most creative and constructive ways. It’s about time.

Weekly Horoscope for Thursday, Aug. 20, 2015 #1063 | By Eric Francis

The Sun is about to join Jupiter in your sign, ushering in what may be one of the best birthday seasons in years. Mercury, the Virgo planet, is also in your sign, and you have a lot going for you — this is not an illusion of some kind. Yet you may be feeling anxious or hesitant. This appears in your solar chart as some form of not knowing what you want; at the same time you may feel overly aggressive about wanting something you’re not sure you want. What they have in common is the way you manage desire, which is the most potent force in the human realm. As you may have noticed, very little can stop you or anything when you really, really want it — which is why many different philosophies try to define desire as a bad thing. Whether good or bad, desire exists, and you can think of it a little like voltage. Electricity must be managed carefully or it becomes a dangerous force of nature. But used with awareness and intention, it can be applied to nearly any need. Your desire is that strong, so be clear what you want and what you don’t want — and notice when others try to impose their will on you.

Weekly Horoscope for Thursday, Aug. 13, 2015 #1062 | By Eric Francis

Jupiter has entered your birth sign, which is an invitation to stretch your potential. This will feel a little like pulling a tight glove over your hand and wiggling in — perhaps a little uncomfortable at first, and you may doubt that you’ll actually get a good fit. Give it a little time, focused effort and practical experience. Then you’ll discover that this thing called potential is a natural substance you can work with, expand, discover and develop an understanding of how to use. Consider this from every angle — your capacity for happiness, for good work, for creativity, for earning, for sharing, for pleasure. You are a conduit through which energy passes; that can take any form. Therefore, practice expanding in every way. Imagine what it feels like to be what you want to be, in the place you want to be. The awkward or unnatural feeling will dissolve. Don’t worry whether you deserve anything or not — I consider that a false concept. You are alive, and it’s your prerogative to live as well and as fully as you can.

Weekly Horoscope for Thursday, Aug. 6, 2015 #1061 | By Len Wallick

When people (most likely from your distant past) have admonished you not to put off until tomorrow what you can do today, they were almost certainly speaking to responsibilities, work, chores and drudgery. Knowing you, you took that advice to heart and integrated the work ethic you received into a fine appreciation for diligence and your imperative for industriousness. The downside of strictly conscientious behavior, however, is that as it stifles your own playfulness, it can make you inclined to be extra strict with others, and pass on to them more than just a stolid warning to favor the proverbial ant over the legendary grasshopper. It’s time for you to add a bit of your own experience with curiosity’s ability to cure rather than kill. There’s reason as well to share with others how simple, undirected play can foment joy without precluding wealth.

Weekly Horoscope for Thursday, July 30, 2015 #1060 | By Eric Francis

It’s as if something is trying to be born through you, but has retreated back in the direction of the cosmic womb. Instead of pushing harder, you might want to follow that thing in the direction that it’s headed — toward what some call the unconscious. Thing is, that’s far from the right word for this place, this source of so much vitality. I suggest you use the birth metaphor and consider the story of your own entry into the planet. What were the basic facts? What was the environment prior to your birth, and around the time of your emergence? This is called the ‘birth script’ — and in many ways it reveals the story of one’s life so far. This story has a way of repeating itself until it’s identified, worked with and resolved. Over the next few months many aspects of who you are will be emerging, one by one, from the cosmic womb into the light of day. It will be worth every bit of focus you put on relaxing and allowing this birth process to happen.

Planet Waves Monthly Horoscope for August 2015, #1059 | By Eric Francis

You seem to be seeking some missing element of yourself, but don’t drive yourself nuts along the way. What you’re looking for is right with you, though it seems to be obscured by a narrow view of yourself. Get that out of the way. It’s a little like a billboard blocking the view of Lake Tahoe from your deck — then staring at the whole scene through backwards binoculars. You would not leave the billboard there. You would chop it down and burn the pieces, and turn the binoculars around. You’re now getting a taste of where your potential meets your perspective. If you think you have the ability to do something, imagine that you’re really capable of a hundred times more. The thing that stands between you and this awareness is a form of perfectionism. Virgo is already famous for this, without the added influence of a strange, slow-moving point called Transpluto that happens to be unusually active right now. It’s like you’re seeing and feeling yourself in miniature. You don’t have anyone to impress with what you’re not capable of. You will not betray anyone by being brilliant, loving, creative or whatever it is that you want to be. Many forces are conspiring to open you up — you, your imagination, your curiosity, your passion and much else. Please join the conspiracy.

Weekly Horoscope for Wednesday, July 15, 2015 #1058 | By Eric Francis

Venus is working its way toward your sign, where it will do something interesting — it will stay put in early Virgo for nearly two weeks. The way that looks, you may at once feel like a vastly gifted person, though at times racked by fits of insecurity. This is an opportunity to address both — what to do with your gifts, and what to do with your insecurity. The two don’t cancel one another out. But you will ultimately choose one or the other. Remember this basic equation: You cannot be self-possessed and reject yourself at the same time. You cannot love yourself and doubt yourself at the same time. Self-possession is acceptance and love means surrendering your doubt to some other force in your personality that will guide you in the direction you want and need to go. More than anything I suggest you learn the talent of generosity with yourself, rising above any influences to the contrary that may well have run your life until now.

Weekly Horoscope for Thursday, July 9th, 2015 #1057 | By Eric Francis

It’s clear that your professional life has been in some chaos, as you’ve dealt with slippery floors, slippery people and way too much unreliable information. You may need to cut your losses on plans you’ve determined will not come to fruition. You also need to distance yourself from, or cut loose, others who have proven to be in any way deceptive. I know there have been some hard lessons here, and some annoying ones. Yet it makes sense to surround yourself with trustworthy and reliable people as the first order of your life. Those would also be the people around whom you can be real and say what’s on your mind without fear of judgment. So the moment you start feeling like you may be judged, or like you have to shut up, you know you’re not among friends. By the way, in my opinion, blood relatives are not granted an exemption. They must be held to the same standards as others. That may be a challenge, but you’re up to it.

Weekly Horoscope for Thursday, July 2nd, 2015 #1056 | By Eric Francis

Focus on the specifics, the details, the fine print. Be bold enough to state what you want or need on your own terms. Then, see how people respond. You have more influence than you think, which will increase as you observe this power. I suggest you try an experiment — don’t justify your desires, just acknowledge them and state them out loud. Justification is another entity, a world removed from honest desire. You have no need to get involved in this kind of psychological complexity. But what your astrology suggests is the need for directness. Go right past your usual tendency to hedge, to couch or to state things in a diplomatic way. Indeed, you would do well to throw diplomacy to the four winds and be what, for you, would feel brash or swashbuckling. This is just your mind playing tricks on you. To others you will seem refreshingly direct.

Planet Waves Monthly Horoscope for July 2015, #1055 | By Eric Francis

You’re working toward a discovery that will change the course of your current life. It looks as if you’ll get evidence of something that you were not sure was even possible — even something you may have never considered. Yet you will have tangible proof of what you’re capable of, which I suggest you take to heart. That is to say, accept and make friends with what amounts to a giant clue about yourself, while you’re holding it in your hands. Then over the next few months, you will be invited into a process of refinement. You may determine that this clue was just a statement about your potential, and now you’re faced with the responsibility of making that potential into something real and lasting. While you do this, you’ll have the distinct advantage of knowing that you’re not guessing at what you’re capable of. Yet the mind works in strange ways, and it’s always possible to deny something even when you have tangible proof of its existence. I suggest you not fall for this game. Allow in no doubt, and remind yourself of your capabilities. It will help if you assert your leadership skills in some way. If you find yourself in some circumstance that demands you bring your talent forward, you will thrive under the pressure and have no choice but to affirm your gifts and debunk your doubts.

Weekly Horoscope for Thursday, June 18th, 2015 #1054 | By Len Wallick

Some of the greatest thinkers in human history have noted how there is sometimes a stark contrast between heeding your conscience and aligning with groups you identify with. Even so, doing the right thing appears to be your thing at this time. To mitigate the downside of being in integrity with your own awareness, act so as to be at peace with yourself as a first principle in all matters. Next, consider whether there is a difference between the right thing to do for the short term and for the long run. If so, look for a way to close the gap. Also, make an effort to ensure you are seeing things clearly. Compare observations with others you trust. Finally, to be less alone in actuality, appeal to the conscience of others you trust and ask them to do right by themselves as well.

Weekly Horoscope for Thursday, June 11th, 2015 #1053 | By Eric Francis

Certain issues involving your professional life are about to open up. You may get some long overdue news, or have an opening to make some progress. I suggest that you proceed slowly rather than quickly; gently rather than aggressively. There is still an uncertainty factor that you would be wise to acknowledge, especially where the intentions of others are involved. Those others might be people making decisions for your organization; they might be clients or people of influence who are watching how you handle making decisions. And how would you do that? First, know when you’re guessing and when you’re proceeding with real information. There is a difference between these two conditions, ignored though it is by many. Study the situation carefully. See if you can get information from several different sources, and put together the layers or the pieces for a more complete scenario or image of what is going on. The more you develop this picture the more you’ll realize how helpful it is.

Weekly Horoscope for Thursday, June 4, 2015 #1052 | By Eric Francis

Venus has joined Jupiter in your 12th solar house. Somewhere in one of my favorite old astrology books – Astrology: A Cosmic Science by Isabel Hickey — she describes this as the aspect of “two guardian angels.” I’ve always thought that was interesting. I’ll leave you to consider what you would do with that kind of protection. Your astrology is describing a few other things as well. The theme of purpose is going around the zodiac these days. This may be entirely in my imagination (what isn’t?) but the way the combinations of planets and signs are shaking out, that’s what I see. For you, this is about a discovery process, and not just any random one. Your life seems to be focused on one specific revelation that’s going to be hiding behind the scenes for a while. You can have absolute trust that what you’re doing, and what you soon will feel guided to do, is leading you in the right direction. You may have to go on various hunches on the way there, which fits the astrology. I would add one thing: if you want to be ambitious, be friendly. Do everything by arrangement, agreement and accord.

Weekly Horoscope for Thursday, May 28th, 2015 #1051 | By Eric Francis

Decisions about professional matters may be approaching at the rate of one every few minutes. Yet I suggest you take things slowly, one at a time, and note any decision that you can actually set aside. There will be an exaggerated sense of importance around issues that don’t really matter, while at the same time you may overlook the ones that make a difference. Pay attention to any revelations you may have about where you stand with others. Listen for clues about where colleagues and those in a position of authority are coming from, and keep that information in mind for future use. There are bigger changes going on than you may imagine, and you’re more involved than it seems. But you won’t get much information from colleagues, who seem to be oblivious to what’s going on around them. If you pay attention and bide your time, you will know exactly when to make your moves. Keep them small at first, then expand your scope.

Planet Waves Monthly Horoscope for June 2015 #1050 | By Eric Francis

So much is happening behind the scenes that you’ll be amazed when it starts to emerge. At the moment it may seem like your most ambitious actions and your very best plans amount to little more than a windstorm. At least you aspire to greater things and you’re taking action. Yet it’s as if a whole other show is developing behind the one that’s currently apparent. Therefore, I suggest you use current events as more of a study than as a sure-fire course of action. Get to know people, particularly those with authority and influence. You are likely to be meeting them in droves, especially in informal contexts or places you least expect. Keep in contact with them and develop relationships that exist outside of any specific plans. This includes making sure that the people around you are organized and working effectively. Pay particular attention to work flow. Notice the ways in which technology helps, or gets in the way — and remember those vital discoveries. You don’t need to be the boss as much as you need to be a facilitator. If there is any troubleshooting to be done, make sure you do it yourself or are directly involved. The current timeframe into July is the time to set the stage for greater things to come.

Weekly Horoscope for Thursday, May 14th, 2015 #1049 | By Eric Francis

Maintain your awareness around people in authority. Mercury will be retrograde in your 10th house — that of profession and reputation. A lot is on the line for you right now and, in a sense, your future success depends on how you handle the unusual encounters and exchanges of the next four weeks. You must take nothing for granted, most particularly your position. Mars moving through your 10th house just as Mercury goes retrograde suggests that you might be feeling ambitious, and like you can push limits and take authority. You may be inclined to throw your usual care and caution to the wind. That would not be wise, at this stage. Take things slowly, and make sure you invest most of your energy in listening, in understanding where people are coming from and making sure that you play the correct role. If you are able to come through the next few weeks with minimal fuss, you then have the potential to move up in the world, in a big way. For now, take your time and choose every word carefully.

Weekly Horoscope for Thursday, May 7th, 2015 #1048 | By Eric Francis

You seem to be in a position where you have to take leadership, though you might not feel like you’re getting any traction. Remember that in the world there are two kinds of authority — formal and informal. Formal power is the headmaster of a school. Informal power is a student who understands how to win people over and make things happen, having nothing to do with any official line of authority. Your charts suggest you may be in a dilemma that would be described well by these two possibilities. The way to accomplish what you want to accomplish is to win hearts and minds. You do that by socializing and fraternizing with people, though not for recreational purposes. This is for your mission, for your project.
Work the room, speak to people one by one, address them by name, and get them on board with what you are planning. Offer your help with what they might need. There’s a special kind of sharing involved: people are your assets, and more significantly, you are theirs.

Weekly Horoscope for Thursday, April 30th, 2015 #1047 | By Eric Francis

You seem determined to assert your leadership and your message, though I suggest you listen first and speak later. You have a chance of being misunderstood, or worse, presumed to be wrong. Therefore pay attention to your surroundings. What you have to offer is something of lasting value, which is a balance against thinking you have to get it all out and get it right the first time. The natural point of intervention is a writing and rewriting process. For many people writing is pretty easy; it’s the revision part that slows them down, or they seem to lack confidence in their ability to do it. You might say that writing is about making up your mind, and revision is about changing your mind — and that’s what makes both thinking and writing relevant. Editing means there is no presumed perfection; rather, the message of the editing medium is that life is a work in progress, and ideas in particular benefit from exploration. What you are looking for is something that resonates more deeply as truth. To go in that direction, sometimes you must add, and other times you must subtract.

Planet Waves Monthly Horoscope for May 2015 #1046 | By Eric Francis

You seem to be fixating on the question of why you struggle with insecurity to the extent that you do. It’s a good question, though if you look around at the world and notice how much is teetering on the brink of disaster, you would feel better about yourself. We in the 21st century often think of ourselves as being so much better off than the pioneers or the settlers or assorted primitives who came before us. But is that really true? There’s so much more that can go wrong today. For you, though, the question is where you place your focus or, as may be the case, your over-focus. Because the things that concern you and consume your energy so rarely go wrong, you can read your own thoughts like a tarot spread. You don’t actually need to worry about what you tend to worry about, though it will tell you a lot. There really is a root cause to your worries, and from what I can see you’re in an excellent position to figure it out. I can give you a clue, which is that it’s likely to be a variant on something that troubled your parents and perhaps their parents but is no longer a factor in your environment. Once you understand that their problems are not your problems, you will feel so much better.

Weekly Horoscope for Thursday, April 16th, 2015 #1045 | By Eric Francis

You seem to have had your mind on various challenges and entanglements, which seem to involve where a sexual situation meets a financial situation. Or maybe you’ve just been wrapped up in what seems like the chaos of another person’s inner situation. That would not be possible if you were grounded in your own reality. Said another way, the only way another person’s ‘stuff’ can confuse you is if you’re already confused. Therefore I suggest you focus on yourself. That probably means setting aside the needs, the values and perhaps your involvement with someone else. That may feel daring, as this scenario seems to be fulfilling some deep need that you have even as it mixes you up. Yet I would propose that your need for grounding and stability is even more pressing, which you will discover once you get a taste how they feel.

Weekly Horoscope for Thursday, April 9, 2015 #1044 | By Eric Francis

You must learn to speak the language of those you would seek to influence. To do that, you must know what they want. Yet what you want is just as valuable and necessary right now. Your chart suggests you can get past the illusion of separate interests, which also means getting past the notion of competing interests. There are aspects of your plan that will work for others and aspects of their plan that will work for you. You will be in the role of the person who is guiding things into the mix-and-match win-win situation (there’s a bestselling buzz phrase for you!). So start mixing, matching and winning. While you’re doing that you may have to clear up some misunderstandings that have emerged the past week or so, and I suggest the best way you do that is first by listening, and second, by acting only on information you have confirmed to be true.

Weekly Horoscope for Thursday, April 2, 2015 #1043 | By Eric Francis

Everything comes down to self-worth. By everything, I mean the state of our relationships, of the world and of existence. Reality is self-mediated. That is, it’s fairly obvious that how we experience the world is a product of our perceptions. The problem with that approach is that it’s often difficult to put it into practice. Or said another way, how you feel about yourself seems difficult to control. But really, that’s on the moment-to-moment basis. Self-esteem is best conducted as a long-term project. It would include a study of the past, in particular of influences that have impacted how you feel about yourself (positively and negatively) and a series of choices that you make on the level of your values. In essence, every value you hold is a reflection of how you feel about yourself. Once you begin to bring your values into line with what really works for you, your self-esteem will improve. Focus this issue and Saturday’s lunar eclipse will carry you light years in a few short days.

Planet Waves Monthly Horoscope for April 2015 #1042 | By Eric Francis

Resist the illusion that others have more going for them than you have going for you. Your charts describe a scenario where you may feel like you’re lacking in some essential ingredients for success. You may have the sensation that you’re looking down a tunnel at some personal qualities you wish you had. But you seem to be holding the binoculars the wrong way. You might even put them down and size up your environment with your bare eyes. If you do, you will see that you have far more in common with the people around you than you imagined, including the fact that they are looking to you for creative inspiration. Then there is the question of money. It seems that the best success can be had by pooling resources or accessing shared resources. From the look of your solar chart, there is no shortage of wealth or abundance around you. You merely face the question of how you’re going to access those resources, which seems to be through one route only — your trusting relationship with others who share a common mission, values and intentions. It would help, in that case, if you drop any prejudices you might have and get busy having real conversations with those you can partner with on your most valued goals. This will work well for everyone.

Weekly Horoscope for Thursday, March 19, 2015 #1041 | By Eric Francis

The concept of commitment would be better understood (and less of a fuss) if everyone understood it’s something that comes from within. On some level many people do have a clue that this is true, though the outer layer often seems to trump the inner core that makes the commitment real. It’s for this reason that so many people renege on their promises. They were never actually promises in the first place. But you have a vision for an understanding with someone; this vision is being driven by potent internal motives that in recent days have all but overwhelmed you. Seen from another angle, you may be wondering what you’re getting yourself into. And if you are indeed wondering, do so in a bold way, and come up with an equally bold answer to whatever question you’re asking. You are striving to find yourself from the inside out, and you are very likely to succeed.

Weekly Horoscope for Thursday, March 12, 2015 #1040 | By Eric Francis

Take the time to have the important conversation as soon as you can. Doing so will give you some influence over a situation that might otherwise be out of your hands. You know by now that influence does not mean control — it means shared awareness that can allow you to find some common ground, and present an idea or two. Such also includes listening and sharing your response. Without taking advantage of these accessible, ordinary human things, you might feel as if your whole life is being controlled by the winds of fate. There are indeed certain natural features in the cosmic landscape that are influencing you, in a profound way at the moment. Yet if that is true, it would make obvious your need to be aware of your environment so that you can be responsive in real time, not with a seven-second or seven-year delay.

Weekly Horoscope for Thursday, March 5, 2015 #1039 | By Len Wallick

Being a good witness to and for another is among the highest callings to service. Holding space for others is perhaps the most dignified way to live. Astrology right now indicates that both offering service and exemplifying dignity are crucial to your own best interests at this time. Therefore, it is important to recognize which perceptions now serve nothing and what responses are in fact undignified and unworthy of who you now are. After all, an ounce of proactive self-affirmation is worth a pound of reactive self-criticism. Let your every perception be more clear by asking yourself whether you are witnessing what is present instead of allowing the here-and-now to trigger what you witnessed in the past. Let your response be healthier by holding no space for grudges. — by Len Wallick

Weekly Horoscope for Thursday, Feb. 26, 2015 #1038 | By Len Wallick

You and other members of your solar tribe are in a position both to see more clearly and to feel more deeply over the next few weeks. Maybe longer. This could do you a lot of good. More to the point, the powerful perspective astrology seems to be allowing you could do a lot of good for others. Especially those you love. First, however, look and feel for new ways to love yourself. Accept yourself just as you are regularly. Please yourself somehow daily. Honor your enhanced self-awareness by owning it proudly. Then, act so as to be one with what is uniquely you and essentially yours. — by Len Wallick

Planet Waves Monthly Horoscope for March 2015 #1037 | By Eric Francis

You possess the truth you seek. Yet you may also not quite feel that way, and be pursuing a course of finding it outside yourself. That is certainly compelling enough; ancient sites, quests and journeys over the sea have been undertaken for millennia, for the purpose of discovering something that is ultimately about oneself. There is an illusion at work in your chart, which may be blocking your sense of what you know, while at the same time projecting that very thing into your environment and onto the people in it. It’s not that the people around you lack worth, or beauty, or intrigue. It’s not that they don’t possess some element of what you want. The value they seem to have is only the value you put on them. The wisdom they have, if you recognize it, is something you match with your own vision and knowledge. Therefore, seek inwardly and you really will find what you’re after. You might discover that the whole realm of existence you see around you is a kind of explosion of your own mind. And thanks to that, you have the ability to go to the source. If you’re going to do one experiment with the world around you, let it be with cause and effect. Trace every effect you observe to its point of origin. Notice the results of every action taken. Those will reveal much that is currently hidden.

Weekly Horoscope for Thursday, Feb. 12, 2015 #1036 | By Eric Francis

As planets continue to collect in your opposite sign Pisces, this will be an exciting week to be a Virgo. It’s as if everything you thought of as responsibility morphs into a reward. Given that, you could say that the greater your sense of duty, the greater the benefit you and others will receive. What seems impossible one moment can emerge into the manifest world the next — so don’t burden yourself with the question of potential. There will be plenty of transformation going on over the next week or so, which is why I suggest you take a loose and observational approach to existence, participating when you feel called to do so. Any transaction can lead to the contact you seek. Yet it’s more likely to be in some unforeseen future form than in its current form, which is why transitions are your best friend.

Weekly Horoscope for Thursday, Feb. 5, 2015 #1035 | By Eric Francis

Though yours is a mutable sign, subject to frequent changes, you need to guard against rigid emotions. These are most likely to arrive in the form of being self-judgmental. You might respond to that as digging in and claiming your right to say no — which is indeed your cosmic privilege. You might want to claim, at the same time, your right to say yes, and to say maybe. I suggest you guide your choices in a way that keeps your options open rather than narrows them down. The way to do this is to recognize when you’re judging yourself and consciously choose to let that go. The thing about judgment is that it’s connected to guilt, and guilt is the feeling of being convicted without a trial. If you are fair to yourself, you will see your options. If you forgive yourself you will be able to breathe, and choose among them.

Weekly Horoscope for Thursday, Jan. 29, 2015 #1034 | By Eric Francis

You seem to have a lot to do, but really it’s less than you think. With Mercury retrograde, I would suggest a few simple strategies. First, keep a blank pad on your desk. If your desk is your Droid and a seat on the D train, then keep a little notebook with you. First, make a list of several partially done tasks that have been nagging you for several months. Complete three of them and notice how much better you feel. One or more of these is likely to include a purely technical task or some form of system maintenance, such as backing up your disk drive. When you work, be attentive and take safeguards. While you’re completing these old tasks, keep your notebook handy and begin sketching out some future tasks — again, ones you’ve wanted to do for a while. As you sketch, develop a basic strategy for getting started that includes one or two steps you can take straight away.

Planet Waves Monthly Horoscope for February, 2015 #1033 | By Eric Francis

You may need to consciously focus yourself on staying on-task with work, and in harmony with your intimate relationships. You may not be sure which is a distraction from the other. In truth, neither is a distraction and both seemingly different facets of your life are offering you something unusual right now. On one level this seems like a question of balance. It’s as if you have these tasks requiring one kind of focus and setting, and those other things you do, which require a different kind of focus and setting. Seen as different, they will tend to compete — if for nothing else, for your time and energy. But that competition involves a deeper conflict than may seem obvious on the surface. The solution is to guide yourself to the common ground of all your experiences, which is you. You are not two different people, the ‘relationship person’ and the ‘work person’. You are one entity, and the common ground of all your experiences is the ground of your being. If facets of your life seem to take energy from one another, reach for that terrain your life is built on. Once you get there, you will feel like you’re standing on a solid hilltop, where previously you may have been trying to balance on an idea. From there, you may notice you feel far less pull and tension.

Weekly Horoscope for Thursday, Jan. 15, 2015 #1032 | By Eric Francis

You may not be able to make head or tail of what someone close to you is going through, feeling or becoming, though don’t let that stop you from having fun with the experience. Yes, this is the extra zesty kind, and it’s probably not on the menu. What you may be concerned about is how others will perceive your experience, which is in reality nobody’s business but your own. If privacy means anything, it’s the right to feel and to experience intimacy in the way you choose to. Anyway, the shape of your chart is describing you going against the current of what is popular or considered a matter of common sense. Every factor in your astrology is pushing you to think for yourself, which means having exactly the experiences you want to have, for whatever reason you want to have them.

Weekly Horoscope for Thursday, Jan. 8, 2015 #1031 | By Eric Francis

Hold everyone to the truth, starting with yourself. This isn’t as difficult as so many people make it out to be. You see people respond all the time as if reality itself were some kind of mortal enemy to be held at bay, or eliminated when possible. But honesty is not vaguely as uncomfortable as living with the tension and pressure of denial and ignorance. Get things moving by releasing some of your own pressure in this regard — for example, saying what’s been on your mind that you’ve been concerned would have some kind of negative response if you let it out. Consider this a gesture of healing, and of opening the way to even deeper repair of a problem you’ve wanted to solve. What would that be? It involves when you choose to compromise and why.

Planet Waves Monthly Horoscope for January 2015, #1030 | By Eric Francis

Your ability to focus is a gift and a privilege. Your intelligence is also a gift, and a key to the universe that you possess and can use at any time. There have been times when you’ve perceived yourself as the victim of these things, mainly because you’ve perceived them to alienate you from others socially. That no longer seems to be the case. Brains and beauty are coming back into style. You’re no longer surrounded by weirdos who have to prove how different they are, or what geniuses they are. Your environment is now populated by people who value their connection to others, and who recognize you for who you are. The sticking point, if there is one, is self-criticism, often taken to excess. The point of contention is that you still may not take well to those who are easier on themselves than you are. You may perceive this as weakness, lack of discipline and lack of self-awareness. You’re probably correct in your perceptions, though that bears no relationship to being gentle on yourself, or on others. Do everything you can to keep your point of view wide and inclusive of all perspectives. Tap into how others receive information and intuition — you have a lot to learn from them, and what you learn will greatly benefit your worldly goals and your inner growth agenda.
