Learning Astrology with Eric Francis: Three Lessons

Dear Friend and Client:

Below you’ll find the audio players for three fantastic live classes I’ve taught in the last year or so. Like so many other areas of study that date back to antiquity, astrology is often passed on in a dynamic, live relationship between seasoned practitioner and even the newest student.

In that way, the teacher or mentor also continually learns in the process — and students become part of a living tradition, carrying on in a specific lineage. With a solid foundation beneath you, you can then branch out on your own and pass on what you’ve learned.

If you would like to take part in future live classes, keep your eyes peeled for our email announcements. If you are a Backstage Pass holder, you will get discounts.

Please let us know if you have any questions about these classes and, as always, we’d love to receive your feedback after you’ve listened.

Lovingly,

Introduction to Reading a Natal Chart

Once you understand the basics for how to read an astrological chart, it’s relatively easy to get useful information from a natal chart — your own, or someone else’s.

Introduction to Reading a Natal Chart

In this first class, I cover a few of the core ancient rules you need to know, provide you with two essential tools, then move on to modern interpretation techniques using two example charts. There is also a special section discussing how Chiron works in a natal chart.

It helps if you at least know the astrological glyphs and the most elementary meanings of the major planets; there are many online resources for that if you aren’t sure about some of them and need a refresher.

Note that for this class (and in fact, all three classes), there is a link below the audio player with additional class resources. It is helpful to look these over before you begin listening to the recording, and to keep the link open as you listen.

Materials for this class include a PDF by Rob Hand about whole sign houses, an article on the Thema Mundi (chart of the world), plus some charts.

Original title: Astrology Tools and Power Tools

For many, astrology is interesting though the technicalities can seem overwhelming. How exactly do you cut through that, and get to a point where you can understand the basics? How do you even start the conversation?

Become Your Own Astrologer, Part 1

In this class, I introduce you to some of the best power tools you can have on your astrological work bench: the ephemeris, the blank wheel, the horary chart, the Table of Essential Dignities, the Thema Mundi and the best of all, the astrological interview.

These are all easy to learn and use, and as you apply them you will get better results over time.

I also cover things like: What do you do with astrology books? What do you do with your astrology day planner? How do you go about learning the basics of your own chart? How do you conduct basic research into a topic? How do you use Planet Waves to your best advantage, particularly as a research tool?

The Easy Basics: Sun, Moon and Rising Sign

How do you get started reading your chart? That is, how do you let go of the idea that this is going to take 20 years, and instead, slip into the story that your chart is telling?

Become Your Own Astrologer, Part 2

In this third class, I explain how to identify and work with the three most basic elements of any chart: the Sun, the Moon and the Rising sign.

We get into such questions as: How does the Moon feel? How does the Sun feel? How do you tune into your rising sign?

You will learn how to spot the planets, houses and signs involved, and then how to consider, sleuth and work with these elements. Along the way you’ll learn some basics of the differences between houses and signs.

I also provide recommendations for relevant, helpful resources, and get you started on understanding the structure and meaning of your chart. As a special bonus, we answer the question: What is Beltane? (Clue: it involves the fixed signs of the zodiac, and how they relate to the equinoxes and solstices.)
