Hi Debbie — what the heck are “kleshas”? In several years of taking yoga classes, I’ve never heard this word. It would be super-helpful if specialized terms like this get a short definition in the little excerpt that shows here on the front page, to offer those unfamiliar with it a way in. Otherwise, it can be a little alienating.

    Thank you!

Forgive me for butting in, Amanda, but I, too, was unaware of the meaning of “kleshas.” So, with all the enthusiasm of the novice, I googled the word and found that it refers to the three (or sometimes five) main “poisons” or destructive emotions. Here is the link that I found: http://www.rigpawiki.org/index.php?title=Destructive_emotions

I expect Debbie would be able to add her own personal experiences of combating these hindrances to right thinking and action.
