In tonight’s edition of Planet Waves FM, I explore the crazy mix of Mercury retrograde, eclipses and the Mars-Pholus-Ixion conjunction. In the second half of the program, I look at the connection between homeopathic preparations of viper venom and the ebola outbreak in Western Africa. In the musical portion of the program, I look at the natal chart of Paul Simon, one of the great bards and musicians of our lifetimes. He is one of my favorite examples of the Libra rock star.

Thank you, Eric. A beautiful show, sensitively done (your often hushed tone – amazing) with a soothing effect as if the show were a homeopathic treatment in itself – quite a result when one considers the subject matter you had to deal with. More than the sum of its parts, yet with all parts memorable. Quite an achievement.

I have long associated Venus in Sagittarius with the Princess Leah archetype — and it turns out that Paul Simon has this placement and was with Carrie Fisher for many years.

On a sadder note, the death rate of African ebola cases is now 70% rather than the 50% that I stated. There have been seven cases in the United States that I know of, as of today. A second worker at Texas Presby came down with the virus after contact with Thomas Duncan. So it’s clear that they need extremely stringent guidelines for how to do every procedure, particularly getting out of the protective wear. From news reports today, it’s clear that there really were no consistent procedures in place, as evidenced by nurses having to wrap their necks in adhesive tape because they would have otherwise been exposed.

Ah, Eric, I look forward to these every week, as much for the music as the astrology. You have great taste. :)

Paul Simon/Simon & Garfunkel have been one of my favorite musical artists since I was a teenager, and that was in the 80s, when liking S & G was not exactly fashionable. The Boxer still gives me chills, and to me that song feels like alienation, loneliness and overwhelm, even an impotent rage, but eventually replaced by a quiet determination despite it all. I’ve never read up on Paul Simon’s chart before so it was interesting to hear about the depth of his character. I, too, am a Libra sun with Cancer moon, with some powerful Virgo and Saggitarius aspects. I can relate, also, to what you said about his internal focus making him a deep communicator, and indeed he is. One thing that I recall about how Carrie Fisher quantified their relationship, (which turned very bitter and ugly at the end, unfortunately), is how, in the beginning, “… it was all words, beautiful, words…” Graceland is one of my favorite all-time albums, and in the title song, Graceland, he sings, “Losing love is like a window in your heart. Everybody sees you’re blown apart, everybody feels the wind blow…” Magical. <3

As Hermes rides the song of his laughter between worlds, stitching shadows to luminaries, balancing in the still point of inferior conjunction, a libra dance on the midpoint of eclipse…

Wings piercing the staff of the master healer’s arrow, serpents ecstatic alchemical embrace in 32 harmonics of rattles and hisses, striking sanctified/justified cosmic spiral, underlying lunar blood…

As soaring quetzal/condor casts shadows of brilliance with the wind song breath of stellar wing beat… Stardust we are… How can we keep from singing?
