I am busy these days creating your Extended Midyear Horoscope, which (if all goes well) will be ready on Friday afternoon. As usual, it’s a tad behind schedule and coming out a bit longer than I planned, taking a focus on the July 21 total solar eclipse, and Saturn’s move into Libra. The astrology of the second half of the year is very different than what we’ve experienced for the past six months.
Following a New Moon conjunct Vesta in the sensitive first degrees of Cancer, opposite Pluto, it was quite a week for The Personal is Political. Let’s not forget the Venus-Mars conjunction. It’s fair to say that anything that happened in the news this week was about all of us, whether we think of it that way or not. We got the Aries Point in the style of the sign Cancer: the world has come crashing into our living rooms. In case we are looking for evidence of how the Aries Point (that is, the early degrees of Aries, Cancer, Libra and Capricorn) magnifies the news and makes it our own, we have a prime example.
Chelsea asked me to write a brief explanation of the Tuesday edition. On Tuesdays, we distribute the monthly horoscopes, when there is one. The long edition of the monthly is issued the first Tuesday that the Sun is in a new sign, such as today (generally, the 22nd of the month or later). Between one and three other monthly horoscopes are also in the cycle, though (due to magazine schedules) some are not written every month.
My original theme for the week was to explore how the economic ‘downturn’ will help people find their roots. Without so many distractions of success and money to chase and houses to flip, we have a chance to do what’s important to us; to scale back the pace of our lives and this obsessive overscheduled busy-ness and recreational spending, and apply our creative and financial resources to what matters.
Planet Waves Radio will be webcast tonight, Tuesday, June 9 at 10 PM ET on Blog Talk Radio. Today Mercury is aspecting the Aquarius alignment (read more about this aspect in Planet Waves Daily). How is this alignment affecting your life? What changes do you see in your personal world, and in the larger world? Are they becoming more similar, or more different? Let’s talk about some of these themes tonight.
Lately I am hearing the discussion about 2012 happen just about every day. The concept of this being an important year was introduced to popular culture by Jose Arguelles at the time of the Harmonic Convergence in 1987. His work is inspired by Mayan astrology, and in that system we experience a turnover in the calendar, which — so far as I have been able to discern, from the best source I have — reaches the date 188.8.131.52.0 on Dec. 21. 2012.
